Everything i eat goes to my chest!
Snapple replied to illcusoon101003's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Stop eating. You should be on a clear liquid diet anyway. You can go on full liquids after 7 days. But if you need something, it needs to be something like yogurt or pudding. I'm 6-7 weeks out and I still can't eat anything really hard without being uncomfortable. An example would be a hot dog. I tried to eat one and was miserable because it was too hard. And I chewed that sucker forever. Same with an order of pulled pork nachos. I had to throw them out. To be honest, the most delicious thing I had to eat when I was 6 days out was Herb Ox chicken broth. It was so salty and delicious it was like a bag of Doritos. -
Fat Shaming by Medical Practitioners
Snapple replied to nibble's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, my husband is a physician and he is in love with the term "Morbidly Obese". Every time he uses that term I want to say "F-U, have you looked in the mirror?", but I don't because he would just claim it's a medical term and I'm "angry". Well, I wasn't angry until he used the term. And he could stand to lose a good 50 pounds as well. (or more) -
Comment your favorite protein shake/powder/drink!!
Snapple replied to Road2Newme3's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can't do any of the drinks. They're all awful. I've given up and eat the protein bars that I also hate. But not as much as the gross protein water and shakes. -
Hello! I'm wondering what bariatric vitamins you all take and what is your favorite type and/or flavor? Right now I have Celebrate Soft Chews in Very Berry and Celebrate Calcium in Berry and I dread them. They have a gross after taste, get stuck on the roof of my mouth, and are just overall nasty. Does anyone take these in another flavor that are better? What about the dry chewable? Do you all know if there are any gummy bear bariatric vitamins? What are some other options? Can we ever take normal pill multi-vitamins?

Anyone else deal with diarrhea early post-op?
Snapple replied to EsoKev's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had what I would consider to be severe issues up until about 2 days ago. (My surgery was 6/20) I've been basically scared to leave the house or really even sit on the sofa without a couple of towels under me just in case. I wore a lot of black shorts! Now, that I'm eating normal food, things are back to normal. But I've added carbs so I'm sure that's what has helped. Anytime I do a low carb diet I have this issue, even before surgery. So glad that's over. -
Just wondering how your Grandparents feel about everything since you're still alive (lol), lost tons of weight and are doing so well? Have they come around?

I think they were discontinued. I tried to find them too. -
Packing for Hospital. What did you take along?
Snapple replied to RobbieBG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The only things I needed: Sleep shorts to walk the halls. Gas x gel caps ( I chewed them and then spit the capsule part out) Extra undies Toiletries bag Computer and charger Phone and charger Went home in the clothes I arrived in. I did not shower at the hospital as I got out at noon and went home and did that before going to bed. -
I couldn't do protein water or shakes. I try not to even think about protein water or I'll start to gag. I bought 3 cases pre-op of the protein water and returned them. The case I opened is going to a food pantry because there is nothing that can make me choke it down. I do the protein bars with no problem. I even found one that has 30g of protein per bar.

I truly cannot stand it. This crap tastes like grape or fruit punch maple syrup to me. It's just so gross. How do you all choke it down? I've ordered some unflavored protein powder which should be here on Tuesday (I was sleeved on Wednesday) so will I be ok without drinking this nastiness? Any suggestions? I went to Sonic today hoping a peach sugar free iced tea would be good and I can barely choke that down. I went home and make a large cup of tea and diluted that drink until it was double in volume. Why is everything so darn sweet to me ? Oh, and I did order Herb Ox broth. It's delicious and I love it. It just has scary amounts of sodium.

I had surgery on Wednesday and took my last narcotic pain med on early Saturday morning. I then switched to normal liquid Tylenol and quit taking that on Sunday.

SAME! My mistake was to smell it. That rotten milk smell did me in and I can't do it. I'm still waiting on the unflavored powder from Amazon to try (I'm only 5 days out since surgery) and I'm going to make a point not to smell it first and only mix it into soup. I now have two cases I need to return to Sams Club and 10 bottles to donate to the food pantry.

Anyone else have problems eating eggs?
Snapple replied to BajanSleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm actually in the hospital right now waiting to be discharged and we had a diet meeting and the dietician said not to eat eggs for awhile because they will get stuck in your throat. -
Anthem BCBS (in Missouri) - Insurance requirements
Snapple replied to KatallacStrong's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have an individual plan since we are independent contractors and this was the only plan I could buy. It's BS. And all thanks to Obamacare. I have really, REALLY crappy coverage and my prescription drugs aren't even covered until I hit my deductible $6000 deductible. Good luck to you and I wish you the best! -

I have Anthem BC/BS in MO and they would not cover any bariatric procedures under my policy. -

Thank you so much for the information. I will be looking into that soon. I was scheduled with another doctor and I decided to dump him because he wanted me to do a colonoscopy with him even though he was out of my network and I would have to pay for it. The heck with that. I have no problem getting a colonoscopy...but I'll do it with a doctor of my choice within my network that actually does colonoscopy for a living and does not try and pad their bill with procedures I didn't request from them. Anyway, I appreciate the positive referral. I've used Wash U doctors in the past and have been very happy with them. Thank you again.!
