GALS who started their journey over 300 lb+
+
TX4everLinds replied to Frustr8's topic in The Gals' Room
Update on me: just crossed into the 100’s on Saturday! Started at 301. -
I was like you and took Advil regularly. I have not needed it since surgery except a couple times and it wasn’t bad. With losing weight and being more active, my cramps are not near as bad. I would recommend getting a hood heating pad and taking hot showers. Also I’ve started getting a pedicure once a month and the foot rubs really help with the cramps! I thought my life would be over without Advil but I haven’t taken it or any substitute. Sometimes the things we worry about beforehand are non issues once we are post-op. Good luck!!

I only lost 2.6lbs my whole second month. I think my body thought I was dying. This month (third month) I lost 10. -

I think it’s bc you’re only 2 weeks out. Still swollen etc. things will be weird for about 2-3 months the. You’ll start to figure out your signs. My nose runs when I reach restriction. Weird! -
I had a TERRIBLE TIME. I ended up on Zofran and Reglan and nexium. Then they warned me off the reglan and increased my nexium. It took a while. Make sure you eat bc if you don’t the acid is worse and makes nausea worse I think. Good ick to you it’s really hard for some people in the first couple months after. It DOES improve! It’s just so individualized.

I was told to increase water and start moving more. I plateaued a little earlier than you. My surgery was 9/5 and I only lost 2.4 lbs all of October! I think my body thought I was dying and was trying to save me. Since November 1 I’ve been losing steadily again. My dietician said I was not eating enough in October. I was struggling with reflux etc so my metabolism was quitting on me. Just stick to it and try to hit those goals. It will vary but it will keep going down!

Too fat for a bypass
TX4everLinds replied to Born in Missouri's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
It’s super obese. I was classified as that when I started. I am very short, only 4’11”. I had never heard of it until I saw it in my medical chart. It said (super) in parentheses. My BMI was 61 and is now 42. Surgery 2 months ago. I was surprised that it was called super! Seemed so positive lol -

My whole second month was basically a stall. I lost only 2.6lbs in all of October. I’ve lost more than that in the first 6 days of November. -
Gas/bloating Help!!!!!
TX4everLinds replied to kjallen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Walk as much as you can. Hot showers helped me the most with gas pain. Heating pad helps too but the shower was the best. -

Try and get some friends to do it with you for accountability. It is not easy but you can do it!! Drink lots of water to help keep you full. -
Bariatric and Alcoholism....
TX4everLinds replied to disco stu's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
Good post! I’m avoiding alcohol for a while bc I was warned that it is easy to become dependent after sleeve. It is not mentioned much probably bc there are some really hardcore and super judgmental folks on here that call themselves veterans and shame anyone that they see as weak or not conforming to their brand of advice. I encourage you to keep reaching out. This isn’t something I struggle With right now but I’m very aware of it and am taking precautions because I do not want to become an alcoholic. Thanks for sharing the info. Keep going to your meetings and hang in there! I have seen this discussed maybe on here but maybe elsewhere. Best to you! -
8-days Post-Op. Craving textures and spices. Afraid this is a sign of future failure.

You’ll be shocked how little you can actually eat if any of those Foods ever! Just stick with your program and hang on! Results will help motivate you and you can do it! It is not easy though some veterans on here will be militant and act like everyone’s a failure but them. Concentrate on staying alive and moving around. Read: drink water and move. This short time so soon after surgery will seem like a tiny speck on the timeline of your new life. I’m only 8 weeks out tomorrow and I’m still in the blip of Time phase and it is already easier. Keep going! -
Anyone regretting this?

Fluffychix do you know that’s why she’s doing it? Did she tell you that herself? Or are you making assumptions? I didn’t know this site was a place that celebrated making other people feel small. Where I’m from that’s called bullying. I was simply commiserating with the OP as a mom and a woman. Anyone that was offended can get over it. Why is Matt the only one allowed to have tough love and an opinion? Clearly I should’ve never responded. I’ll be leaving BP now. Thanks. -

There are things only moms get, just as there are things only dads get. I think maybe you didn’t understand my post at all. And that’s ok. Have a good one. -

Only moms get it. Sorry guys. Also I know that so soon after surgery can be very overwhelming. I also think you are factually correct but not communicating in a helpful way. Not everyone’s recovery is the same and not everyone has the same support at home. Probably would’ve been better to sit this one out than be critical. Just sayin. -

I couldn’t eat or drink anything. I still have a really hard time with water. Hang in there. Regrets will come and go. Good days and bad days. Do you have support at home? I understand what you’re going through and just try to focus on other victories. Clothes fitting different. Pain from surgery subsiding. There’s some good advice above that I’m going to take too. Don’t lose heart!! -
GALS who started their journey over 300 lb+
+
TX4everLinds replied to Frustr8's topic in The Gals' Room
I am finally starting to see some losses again. Just wanted to encourage those who may be stalling or feeling like why did I even do this?! I started at 301 and lost 60lbs before surgery, averaging about 10lbs per month by eating Keto. I had surgery first week of September and lost 25lbs in September. I struggled a lot with reflux and was re-hospitalized for 2 days and struggled to keep even sips of water down. This was (mostly) remedied by Rx nexium. I still struggle some. It’s a major learning curve! In October I only lost 2.6lbs...for the whole month! Dietician said I wasn’t eating enough and my metabolism was quitting on me. It’s just taken me this long to figure out how and whT to eat. Still learning! Today on November 6 I’ve already lost 3.2lbs this month. So I think my body was in shock in October and I wasn’t consuming enough. I’m excited about November and have to remember that with 25lbs in September I’m still on track to average 10lbs/month like I did before surgery. I know this will change as I get smaller but I have to keep reminding myself I WILL GET SMALLER! I’m at 215 today and looking forward to onederland! -
I had surgery 9/5/18. I lost 25lbs in September and only lost 3lbs in October. So evidently my stalls last a good while.
