  1. I still have 7 days left until they approve for soft foods. This is torture!!!! Im not hungry at all, but the thought of taking another sip of RTD protein shakes makes me want to vomit... blahhhhh. I still enjoy my coffee ones, but it’s getting old...
  2. I stalled on the third week, right on the dot! It lasted a 6 days before picking back up again. I had surgery 5/14 and am down 22lbs
  3. Hi guys and gals, This is insane! I started my journey at 287, a size 24 pant (that were a little on the tight side.) I had surgery on May 14th at 260. Today, just shy of 4 weeks out I weighed in at 239 (finally broke that damn stall). Anyways my clothes have literally been FALLING off me. I was just fine until about a week ago. So I went shopping today and grabbed some size 22s. Too big. So I grabbed some 20s. Still too big. So in total awe I grabbed some size 18s and holy mackerel they FIT. I almost died. And I tried on a shirt that was size 14/16 and it fit! I am on cloud 9 right now 😍. Hope all my fellow May surgery buddies are doing well!

    Down 3 Sizes!

Thanks!!! It was so motivating. I bought new workout clothes and went for an extra long bike as a result. I am so excited. Even though I look in the mirror and don’t *see* a huge difference, climbing into those size 18s did more for me than even dropping below 240 did.

    May 2018 losers bench

I’m stalled too! I’m down 19lbs since surgery and have been stuck here for a week. Super annoying.

    Surgery with children?

I would agree with Creekimp13. My husband had open heart 2 weeks prior to myself, and although I had a super easy recovery and a ton of family support, it did cause some unnecessary troubles. If I could have scheduled everything on my own, I would definitely have put them at least a month a part. Even when recovering easily, you still deal with exhaustion. In addition, there is the limited lifting capacity. With both your husband unable to lift, it could make caring for 1 year olds difficult. My children are 8 and 4 so it was easier, but with children so young its going to be harder as they won't be able to understand why you are unable to pick them up or play with them. Just my 2 cents though!

    Universal flip off

Hi ladies, The universe just gave me it’s highly polished F U. I am on my third day post op, and my body decided it would be a GREAT time to get my period. But not just any period. No, no of course not. It’s like the mother of all periods. Severe back pain, abdominal cramping, and super sore breasts. Go me. This is greeeeeaasaaaaatttttt. Nothing like a period almost two weeks early to celebrate your new beginning. It’s not like I didn’t just have all during my husband’s surgery just 2.5 weeks ago. Anyone else hoping for early menopause?

    Staples or stitches

I had dermabond, no outer stitches either. It was great up until my allergic reaction that caused dermatitis across my entire torso 😭
  11. Hi Folks! Looking for some guidance from the vets. I’m just shy of 2 weeks post op and received clearance to begin exercising. I was wondering where to start. Doc said I could do whatever, but I wondered what you all thought would be a good place to start. I have an elliptical and some lower free weights, but it’s been years since I’ve seriously exercised so I’m kind of a fish out of water here. At the moment I’m getting in 10-15k steps per day. Thanks in advance for your advice!
  12. Thank you thank you thank you!
  13. SEE this terrifies me! I feel like my sleeve is broken. I have NO issue consuming liquids or food. I mean I eat very small amounts, but liquids slide right through me. Doc says it’s fine and that I’m doing great, but I’m still super nervous. I make a shake for lunch that has 1/3 cup fat free Greek yogurt, 1 cup fat free fair life milk, 1 scoop chocolate protein powder and drink that for an hour and it’s 40g protein. Now I don’t feel hunger at all, but I don’t consume any more protein until my 4pm 4oz coffee(decaf) with 1/2 a premier protein shake. Between those two small things, I’m hitting 60g protein. Am I super abnormal? 😰
  14. Thanks everyone! Maybe I will try upping the walking, or try my hand at light jogging before going to elliptical. I guess I become overzealous when I got the clear and wanting to start now now now! If it makes any difference at all, I am getting in all my fluids and protein in abundance since about day 3 post-op. I am currently averaging: 100-110oz of water (Though more today since its hot) MINIMUM of 75g of Protein, usually closer to 90g.

    May 14th

I had my post op today too and everything looked good. I got contact dermatitis from the dermabond that is on its way to healing. Still super itchy but it’s not as red as the past couple of days. I’m beginning to think my practice is so incredibly different from the others. We don’t have a purée stage. First 10 days is liquid+ meaning liquids/shakes/yogurt/pudding etc. after 10 days it goes to soft (fork mashable foods) which includes cooked veggies, meats (ex chicken salad and tuna salad, or any moist meat). I’m now cleared to slowly add in these softer foods before cleared for regular food in 3 weeks. I ate tuna tonight with 0 issues :) Fluid avg: 100oz Protein avg: 85g How is everyone else fairing?

    3 Days post op!

I am happy to see you so positive! I agree that post is easier than pre since you don’t have the pesky hunger!

    Milk of Magnesia

Agreed, very gentle. I worked while taking it as well.
  20. Tomorrow’s the day! I feel like it snuck up on me. I’ve spent the past 2 weeks taking care of my husband that I hardly noticed the time passing. As I prepare for tomorrow, I can’t help but feel like I am not prepared. Even though I’ve probably purchased more things than necessary... I have 4 different soups prepared and frozen (I kid you not I’ve had my crockpots going for over 24 hours to make the bone broths and chicken stocks!) enough premier protein for the next several weeks, and several other brands/flavors in case the premier is a bust due to post-surgical changes. I’ve got Greek yogurt a-plenty, fairlife milk and almond milk. And I’ve spent all weekend in the kitchen cooking up meal after meal for the fam so I can have a full week to recover before the mom/wife duties resume... I’ve got a ton of mini-plates (I have a collection now. I tend to collect oddities. I have a huge collection of coffee mugs, and now my obsession is decorative mini plates. I have issues LOL). I’ve got the spoons, forks, a plethora of different vitamins because damn chewables are gross. I even purchased a pillow wedge, toilet seat raiser, squatty potty, the colace/miralax/MoM/other various pooping aides... Despite having what seems like an arsenal of items, I feel so underprepared. I guess my anxiety is rearing it’s head. I don’t feel nervous about the surgery itself, I feel nervous that I’m forgetting something important. Anyone else feel like they had nonsensical worries before their surgery? The normal worries, complications in surgery, possible injury, or even non succeeding with the tool don’t plague me at all. Instead I’m paranoid that I don’t have enough plates, or that my protein powder will run out (even though realistically I probably have enough to last me a good 3 months straight) or that I won’t be able to take those terrible vitamins. Slap some advice or tough love on me! I need some help getting out of my own head!

    Lung infection

Omg! I’m so sorry your going through this! That sucks! Do they have you on antibiotics?!
  22. Yup definitely same boat! I was thankful my doctor wasn’t concerned because I definitely felt like the oddball. I have had such an easy recovery intake wise that I was worried the surgery wouldn’t work. Are there any foods that you feel restriction with? My doctors office doesn’t have a puréed stage, just soft foods after full liquid and so I am trying to introduce foods but am concerned about over eating.
  23. I am in the SAME exact situation. I can drink a premier protein shake in about 15 minutes with 0 discomfort, and have to stop myself from doing just that. My nutritionist actually advised me to try really soft foods (such as oatmeal or scrambled eggs) and I was too chicken to try it until last night when I just could NOT sip another meal. I ended up eating turkey chili, had 3oz thinking I'll never finish this, and I did. Devoured the whole thing and had to force myself to do it over a 45 minute period. I could have gone for more! I am a little over 1 week post op, have not felt the restriction much, and am getting in 100oz of water and at LEAST 75g of protein, usually closer to 90 each day. The difference is my doctor is not concerned at all. Though it is not the norm, she says that she attributes my success to being super well hydrated and having a nicely shrunken liver day of surgery. Meanwhile, I am bummed a bit by my success because the scale is like meh... don't feel like moving.
  24. I have 3 different protein waters: Premier Protein Clears: 20g Protein Protein2O: 15g Protein Trimino: 7g Protein I alternate which ones I use depending on the amount of protein I consume. Today I am feeling a bit under the weather and I find drinking the PP Clears and adding 8oz of water helps significantly in getting them down. I dilute most of them with some water because as others have said they are very sweet. My favorite of the bunch is the Trimino as they are more like lemonade to me, but I still dilute them. They have less protein, but I find I get lots of protein in naturally throughout the day with other shakes that on days I don't need an extra boost its my go-to.
  25. Hi! He is doing great! He is really down about not being able to build his fire pit this year lol. I think he was hoping at 6 weeks he would be cleared to lift, but he found out at his 2 week Post op that from 6-12 weeks he’s restricted to no more than 20lbs, so he is really bummed about that. Other than that, he is healing up very nicely!
