    2nd Week post op

You will get there! Honestly the first week is pure hell. I had what others would call an “easy” recovery but man it still sucked.

    I Can Run

Thanks!!! I am so stoked. I’m forcing myself to make this my new reality. Im registered to do a 5k in October, and I’m going to bust my butt to make sure I’m ready!

  4. Awesome job! I’m glad your doing well and kicking ass!
  5. I always stall. My current trend is drop 3-5lbs over 3 days, stall for 5-7 days, drop 2-3lbs over 3 days, then stall for 7-10days, then repeat!
  6. That’s awesome! Congrats! Annnnd I’m a fellow sufferer of noassatall I feel ya!

    Hair Loss

I have frontal alopecia so out of everything that came with the surgery, the Hair loss was one I was used to dealing with. I’m only 2 months out but I’ve seen a significant increase in the thinning. I guess I assumed it wouldn’t bother me since I’ve delt with it for a number of years, but it’s so bad you can pretty much see my entire scalp 😭

    79lb difference!

    Wow you are doing fantastic!!!
  9. I know I’ve already updated on my progress, but today was a substantial day for me. I’ve been the same number, and same pant size for a while. Stalls don’t bother me. However for some reason I looked in the mirror today and just felt different. It was a “wow, you look like a completely different person!” moment. For those of you waiting for, or suffering through the first few weeks... it DOES get better.one day you will wake up, and suddenly realize you have a whole new life waiting for you. It’s a wonderful feeling! Below are 2 old pics from the past year, as well as two pictures from today! (Ignore my husband in the last, he isn’t a fan of my new found comfort with pictures LOL) Happy weekend everyone, I wish you all great happiness 😊
  10. Thanks everyone! I am seeing more and more of the OLD me, the woman I was before obesity. It’s like finding a long lost friend. It’s an amazing journey!
  11. I totally do this!!! I may or may not squeal in excitement sometimes too 😊
  12. @screwballski wow! Your situation is SO similar to mine. My husband had a series of heart attacks that ended up in an emergency bypass 2 weeks prior to my own surgery. I took care of both of us too :)

    Stalled so early!

I feel like its worked out well for me! My energy levels have remained really constant. I know some people who drop significantly can feel more fatigue (not a definite, just sometimes!) For me, I have a ton of energy and feel super upbeat. It also helped me keep a realistic head on things. I am losing slower so I feel like I have to be more proactive about it instead of just letting the surgery do all the work.
  14. Thanks! I feel like I've lost most of my weight there LOL! In fact, the first few weeks were so weird because it came from there first so I had this tiny head and big ol body. Thankfully the rest of me is starting to slim up a bit to match
  15. Hi fellow May sleevers! I am so glad to see so many of you doing well. For those who mentioned struggling, have things gotten any better? Weight loss has been on the slower side for me, but I’m personally okay with that. I had surgery on May14th, and to date have lost 37lbs, 20 of which was the first 2 weeks lol! But I am happy with my results. For me it’s more about how I feel. And how do I feel? AMAZING! I have NO pain. No knee pain, no back pain, it’s all gone. I’ve joined a gym. An intense gym that kills me. Kills me so bad, but I keep going back! I can do lunges and squats and still walk afterwards. I may have trouble sitting the next two days but I make it work. I can shop in REGULAR people sections :) still an 18 but not an 18w! There is a difference! I can ride a bike without feeling like my oversized bum swallows the seat LOL. I can run without dying. Or knocking myself out with the rebound of my chest! I don’t even have to wear two bras anymore!!!!! I’m consuming about 60-75g protein depending on exercise, and 100-110oz water. My face is slimmer and my wedding band fits again. All in all, life is good 😊

    Stalled so early!

I stalled almost immediately after surgery, and stall regularly! It’s all good :) I lose 3-5lbs, then stalk for 5-6 days, then drop another 2-3lbs, then stall for like 8-10 days and repeat. It’s my routine that my body just likes to follow! I’ve been at 60+ grams since about day 4 so I’m weird. I have an Iron stomach.

    2 Months Post Op

Technically I joined the Leominster one, but I went to the Burlington one both the other day and today since mine isn’t open yet. My body is currently broken, but the masochist in me is super pumped by his beat up I feel!
  18. I can hardly believe this as I write this, but I tomorrow I will be officially 2 months post op. It's like it doesn't even compute in my brain. The first week post op felt like a month. The next almost 2 months felt like a week. I am proud of myself for making it this far. Now I will admit, it wasn't easy. It went quick, but certainly wasn't easy. The one aspect that I truly underestimated was the fact that eating would be problematic. Not eating itself, my sleeve is pretty much made of iron and could tolerate things I honestly had no business tolerating (solid food 3 weeks out? No problem! Steak? Easy Peasy! Broccoli? Delicious!) but be that as it may, my struggle has been with food. Not tolerating it... but actually remembering to consume it! It has honestly been my biggest struggle to date. I have to have reminders on my phone just to remember to eat my packed lunches. I have zero hunger. I am at times to lazy to eat. Never thought I'd say that... So despite that, how am I doing? Pretty damn good if I do say so myself! I am down 62lbs since I started on this WLS journey, and 35lbs since surgery. I will say my loss has slowed fairly significantly, since I dropped 20 or that 35 in the first two weeks, but that's okay! I've increased my activity so its to be expected. So what are my next steps? Fitness! I've joined Orange Theory Fitness, the first class broke me. I still wonder if I actually died that day and exist as a very convincing ghost. Who knows. But I'm going again tomorrow because I apparently love suffering. Wish me luck! How is everyone else doing? Still hitting your protein goals? Still drinking shakes? (I make my own and they are muuuuch more satisfying then drinking the RTD ones straight. Still take them in my coffee though )

    Dog Lovers

This is my pup Zoey! Don’t let the cuteness fool you, she is HIGH MAINTENANCE! She has so much anxiety, the poor girl is afraid of everything!!i am the absolute center of her world, and would probably prefer if everyone else (my hubs and kids included!) just disappeared lol! But she’s an amazing companion and super well behaved❤️

    HELP IM STUCK

Hi, I am not as far out as you, but I know our vets on this site will ask if you could post a typical day food log. It may help them identify some areas that may be causing the stall. How is your fluid intake? I always notice when I have a good solid few days of a ton of fluids, the weight just melts off! Do you know roughly how many calories you are taking in each day? 4-5oz 5-6x a day could be too much, or possibly even not enough if you don't have the right balance. Additionally, you may need to increase your exercise. 2-3 times a week might sound good, but your body does eventually get used to exercise making it less effective. Do you switch up your routines? On the days you do not work out, are you still getting in lots of steps or cardio? Lastly, are you on top of your vitamins? Not taking your vitamins can also cause major stalls. When our bodies are deficient, it can seriously impact the general functions. Those are just a few thoughts, I hope I did not overstep!

    2 Months Post Op

Just adding some progress pictures! First is me on March 12, 2018. The second is me this morning (July 14, 2018!) over 60lbs down!

    Clothing purge

I've purged five trashbags worth of clothes, so many still had TAGS on them! I clearly have issues. On that note... I'm down to like 5 rotating outfits LOL.
  23. Has anyone here heard about Orange Theory Fitness? There is one opening up near me, and I am interested in joining. I am 5 week’s post op and feeling great. I’ve been doing cardio and have no pain or any discomfort and want to kick my exercise up. I’ve been looking for a PT for when I hit 3 months PO, but they are sooooo expensive. $80+ per session. I only planned to meet with them once per week, but it’s just too much. So i heard about OTF and wanted to see if anyone on here is a member by chance?

    Orange Theory Fitness

There is one opening in Leominster near me. Pretty out of the way for you, but there is one in back bay I think? One in Cambridge and Brighton too that may be closer to you. I also like how you can use your membership at any location, so I can use the Brighton/Waltham one if I decide to go after work

    Orange Theory Fitness

I’ll definitely try the free class when the location opens. I agree about the billing stuff. I have yet to find a gym that doesn’t have that! I work next to a Boston sports club and it had the same issue. What is it with gums and refusing to cancel memberships!
