VSG + Alopecia sucks... so I buzzed it
Kay07 replied to Kay07's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you! I didn’t expect to like the buzzed look as much as I do. Once I get it cleaned up, I think I’ll wear it out a lot more! -
VSG + Alopecia sucks... so I buzzed it

I will! I want to go to the barbers and have them do it. The pic above was my husband doing it and my hair still looks like different lengths. He did it a 5, I’m thinking a 3 might be better? -
Guess who hit onderland after stalling for 3.5 weeks at 201? THIS lady did! Woohoo!

Thank you all SO MUCH! It has definitely not been a simple easy loss, I’ve worked my butt off (literally, I’ve no butt 😭) to get here between fighting the cravings, watching what I eat, and pushing my workouts I have to say I feel incredible! Best decision I have ever made. Here is a quick pic from today. I HAVE A WAIST!!!!

Looking fabulous @taoz! I’m buying fall clothes now which is awesome :) my favorite season! I mts so much cheaper though since I can buy from regular stores. $25 bucks at NY&C vs $70 at LB or Torrid is definitely nice!!!

Any updates for 4 months out sleevers?
Kay07 replied to AllyJonesVSG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello! Hope everyone is doing well :) I am down a whopping 59lbs since surgery which is nice! I am feeling great. It appears I’ve stalled for the past 3 weeks right at 201.3 which is sooooo frustrating! I just want to hit wonderland 😭 but I’ll get there eventually. I am comfortably wearing size 14s though which is freaking amazeballs though. So how’s everyone doing with their eating? I made mini cupcakes over the weekend for a party and learned others are 100% right that sugar makes you crave more sugar. I nipped that in the bud real quick. -
I love it!!! I haven’t shaved my head just yet, still too nervous to despite the fact that I have frontal alopecia. I really need to do it... I wear wigs most of the time anyways, but it’s that option of going out without my wig anytime I need to that’s stopping me.

A 4 is basically the thigh of a 24.

How many have lost more than the average?
Kay07 replied to Separ1418's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was 260 day of surgery. I’m 209 today (just haven’t updated). And 130?!? Yikes I’d look like the crypt keeper! -
How many have lost more than the average?
Kay07 replied to Separ1418's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am just over 3 months out from surgery. As a total, I have lost 77lbs, which in theory is 52% of my EBW. However that is going on the recommendation of 145 as my “ideal body weight” and in my opinion is not a good goal for me. I was in great shape in high school as an athlete and was in the 155 area. My goal is 160, though I’d be happy with anything lower than 175. If we go based on 160, then I am at 61% loss of EBW at just 3 months out and 5 months into the process. If we are going by EBW from date of surgery, I am 44% to ideal, and 51% to goal. All in all I’m pretty happy with my results. -
Does anyone else still find themselves “sucking it in and turning to the side” to get through tight spaces, only to realize that you can actually walk through like a normal person? I look like an idiot when I do it... I also still sit gingerly on things, testing their strength to hold me before realizing I’m only 211lbs... I’ll be fine!

I can’t even begin to describe the changes in my life. I’m doing AMAZING. I feel incredible, I am running again, and I’ve finally mastered those effing kettle ball swings. I’m also down to a size 16. That’s right, a six-freaking-teen. I’m loving it! My diet could probably use some tweaks. I’m averaging about 800 calories, and with the running I definitely need to kick this up a notch. Still cranking out my protein goals and fluid goals. I’m averaging 80g of protein and 90-100oz of straight water (plus my 2 8oz decaf coffee w/ premier protein!) Additionally, I think my pouch is made of iron. I still have yet to come across food I can’t eat. I still have no feeling of hunger so I suppose that could be an issue if I wasn’t strict about my eating schedule. However other than that I’m having no issues. This surgery was easily a great decision. Hope all my fellow May surgery buddies are doing well! Annnd a picture for progress!

So much great advice here! I am a daily weighted, but only to satisfy my morbid curiosity. A number is a number. I go by feeling. I know when I’m eatin good and on point, my body practically sings with energy. When I eat things that are not so good for me, I feel sluggish. Even though I may stall when eating the good stuff, or lose a lb after a day of eating junk, I can feel the difference it has on me. See if you can focus more on that than the scale. Because damn that freaking scale is an evil bit*h.

Thank you!!! Back at ya!!

Bald spot... is this caused by the surgery?
Kay07 replied to insta_adventurer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As someone who suffers from Alopecia, it’s entirely possible. There is a form of alopecia that directly relates to stress and our bodies definitely are stressed during our recovery. The good thing is that it’s temporary :) a dermatologist could confirm it, but unless it spreads to over an inch in diameter I wouldn’t worry too much. And it does appear to be in an easily hidden spot. Unlike mine! Although mine is not temporary. 😭 -
Guys... (and Gals!)... I can run. Like one of those fit people you see running on the side of the road. Except the fit part of course. But still I’m RUNNING. It’s been years. I knew I missed running, but the absolute feeling of accomplishment I have is insane! Now admittedly I can’t do it for very long, but I’m okay with that! Today I ran 2.12 miles in 30 minutes. Not impressive to normal joggers but for me that’s AMAZING. I am having a very proud NSV and I hope everyone else is having a good night!

Thank you everyone! For those of you waiting on your surgery, it is SO worth it! Being able to run and not being in pain (other than the soreness you get from just being active because holy f*** my thighs be BURNING) has done wonders for my sense of self. I am so energized and motivated by this accomplishment 😊

Thank you so much everyone! I am happy, this surgery has truly changed my life for the better. For the first time in a long time, I DO feel beautiful. But more importantly I feel like me. I feel comfortable in my own skin. This is a priceless feeling.

@vegasurvivor I am so glad your feeling positive! I hate to read about how people struggle and feel regret but your outlook is a great one. Personally, I love stalls. I always notice how my body will shift during a stall, and I stall regularly. But 40lbs is amazing! Looks like you and I are on a similar trajectory as I’ve lost about the same. I love your positivity and wish you all the success in exceeding your goals!

Woohooo! Those are some fantastic numbers!!!

You look fantastic. LOVE the dress on you!
