Hi there! I recently had to go gluten-free due to a sensitivity. Almond flour is great, we use it in place of regular flour for breaded chicken, or fish, and for baking. Have you tried spaghetti squash for a substitute of zucchini noodles? If you like sweet potatoes, roasted sweet potato noodles are good too. I make them fettuccine style so they are a bit thicker. I have also used butternut squash noodles, but you really need to pair those with something that matches the flavor. I cooked mine in my chili and it was great. -
Surgery has been set for May 7th... I can't wait!

Decaf+1/2 caramel premier protein is delicious, love it!

Did you tell the world about your WLS?

That's a great idea! I may tell all of my family as the day gets closer, but when I first mentioned thinking of it a few years ago most were super judgey. Most of my family are all very thin. They talked me out of it, and made fun of people who did get. Then again, I tend to get super emotional sometimes. For example, I was talking to my in-laws about how my kids are going to their daddy/daughter dance tonight, and ended up blurting the entire thing out in a rush like verbal diarrhea LOL. After I made my husband swear 129238409328409328402 times that he wouldn't tell them. LOL. -
Approval Request Submitted!!!!

Addiction runs in my family, so I have always done my best to stay away from things that are highly addictive (except coffee... I am weak!). I drink wine on rare occasions, and usually refuse narcotic drugs when prescribed them since I don't like how weird I feel. So I am not worried about that. The divorce thing though, that seems to be common. I've been e-stalking a bunch of VSG youtubers/instagramers and I've noticed a continued trend of them getting divorced. One of the things many of them seemed to say was that their SO had taken care of them for so long, that they lost sight of what their role was when they no longer needed the care. My husband and I are not like that at all. I am almost obnoxiously independent, and it's one of the things he claims he finds most attractive about me. Besides, he likes to joke that he is the "kept man" since I make all the money haha. -
Thanks everyone! I've put my big girl pants back on and going to do everything I can to get that paperwork submitted. If for some reason I get denied, I'll appeal but in the mean time keep up with the plan. August feels so far, but the truth is it would probably be later than that unless I can get the first week. September through January (minus xmas break) are insane at work, and I am pretty sure my team would kill me if I was out for a few weeks. On the plus side, if it DOES go through, I am looking at an early May surgery date. I am also down 17lbs!!! I mean if you subtract the 9lbs I ADDED switching to this diet, I am only technically down 8lbs but I'll freaking take it!

Probably because it's not fixing something broken or painful, you know? It's like we equate the "OW this hurts" to "Yes this surgery needs to happen." However with Bariatric Surgery, it's not fixing an owie. It's preventing big future ones so it doesn't feel as necessary or logical? I guess that's how I feel. -
Got my Surgery Date!!!! :) 4/2/18! Calling out any April surgery buddies!!!!

Your welcome! [emoji4] -
I do this every morning! I do 1/2 caramel Premier Protein, 1 cup of coffee (decaf)and it tastes great! I do this twice a day and it makes me happy
-
I get it. It’s so intense, and what’s worse (at least it was for me) was that I chose it. It took a long time for me to come to terms with the experience, but I’ll be honest I still wake up sometimes terrified that I’m pregnant or that all that I went through somehow came back. I still sometimes have to remind myself that I made it through, that my daughter made it through. I will say that when I have those moments, I come through with a stronger sense of joy and relief. Sometimes those experiences will stay with you, but they also serve as a reminder of what you did: you survived.

Same! I’ve been testing a ton of recipes during the process so I have a nice repertoire of healthy, delicious recipes. Similar to Mac, I’ve also been sneaking protein powder into things. I made some high protein oatmeal that was delicious! -
Sending positive vibes your way in hopes it gets resolved quickly!

Hi there, it is 100% normal to gain after being in a hospital. They pump you so full of fluid that your basically sloshing! Plus the anesthesia contributes to fluid retention. Don’t stress it. Should come off quickly within the next week or two. -
Looking fabulous! Loooove those blue ankle pants! You look healthy, young and vibrant!
