Stomach Making Weird Noises
butpleasedontlosethatbutt replied to Aworknprogress's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The "pangs" could be your stomach still trying to heal. Definitely check with your doctor to make sure your healing progress is on track. I'm almost 4 months post-op and my stomach STILL makes noises. Hoping this is not a permanent side effect. -
Water? Nope. Applesauce? Nope. Jell-o? Nope. Help!!

Bless your bones You CAN do this!!! It DOES get better!! Once you get to the cloudy liquids phase, ya know what I ate?!? HALO TOP ICE CREAM!!!! High protein (for ice cream), meltable, cold, sweet and yummy... a couple spoonfuls definitely got me through some rough mental days. -

Stomach Making Weird Noises

Really?!? How long did it take for yours to go away? -
I was told NOOOO gummies for the rest of our small-tummied lives!?! My husband and I use the MultiVitamin Plus patches from PatchMD. They're made specifically for bari patients and have a little bit of everything. I also recently started taking fish oil and higher dosage of B12, 'cause hey - it couldn't hurt. You can do this!

I wanna know the same thing - is this the new norm?!? It's so embarrassing to take a drink of water or eat with others while trying to stifle the clogged drain sound. UGH!!! -
Work Lunch ideas?
butpleasedontlosethatbutt replied to Cindy757's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yesss, love this! ^^^ Here's my typical menu at work: Morning commute - this guy: https://www.amazon.com/Protein2o-Low-Calorie-Protein-Infused-16-9-Ounce/dp/B01GQ5HBGI/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1521227525&sr=8-3&keywords=protein%2Bwater&th=1 (Tastes a little like feet, but once you get used to it - it's not horrible.) Breakfast - 0%, 100 Calorie Greek yogurt cup Mid-morning snack - hard boiled egg or this guy: https://www.amazon.com/Oh-Yeah-Birthday-Cake-12/dp/B0171F2HL6/ref=sr_1_3_s_it?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1521228100&sr=1-3&keywords=one%2Bbar%2Bbirthday%2Bcake&th=1 *Lunch - 1/4 c. cottage cheese and tuna pouch. The herb & garlic and ranch flavors are delish! (I know it sounds gross together, but this is kinda like a mock-tuna salad and you don't miss the mayo. Add grapes, apples or green onion if you wanna get fancy.) Afternoon snack - hard boiled egg, raw almonds or LF string cheese *Dinner - protein slab (beef filet, fish fillet, chicken) and veggies if there's room *Not sure what options you have at your local grocery store, but mine has pre-made, healthy meals that are actually TWO servings for my new tummy! I'll usually eat half of one of these babies for dinner and then bring the rest to work for lunch, or vice versa. **Be careful with hummus - it's actually not a good source of protein... ***Most important - PLAN AHEAD!!! If you're unprepared, you'll grab the first thing you see; and at the office, that will RARELY be a protein-rich option. You got this! -
unflavored protein powder
butpleasedontlosethatbutt replied to lorena090's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yessss! I was hoping someone would ask about protein water! I've really gotten used to this: https://www.amazon.com/Protein2o-Low-Calorie-Protein-Infused-16-9-Ounce/dp/B01GQ5HBGI/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1521227525&sr=8-3&keywords=protein%2Bwater&th=1 It kinda tastes like grape feet (yes. FEET.), but once you get used to it, it's really not horrible. Part of our journey is switching our mindsets from eating for pleasure vs. now eating for survival. This bottle is 15g of protein, and I drink it on my way to work before breakfast. You can do it! -
Holy Heart Burn!
butpleasedontlosethatbutt replied to marie88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yuuuupppp... Never had an issue with heartburn before (except when I was pregnant), but ever since my surgery - even WATER gives me heartburn. I kid you not. So my doctor prescribed Prilosec twice a day - helps a ton. Congrats on your progress! -
What's wrong with a straw?
butpleasedontlosethatbutt replied to logicwand's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked my nutritionist the saaaaame thing. She explained that they really don't want us drinking through a straw right after surgery, as it allows more air into your tummy. However, once you're completely healed, straws are fine! She assured me that the air from using straws will NOT stretch your stomach, although carbonation WILL and is still a no-no for life. Happy sucking!
