  1. I'm shrinking...yay! Does anybody have any size 14's they don't need or want?
  2. Hi everybody. I am in need of clothes in size 16. I had the sleeve on April 5th and although the pounds don't seem to be dropping off as fast, the inches seem to be. I'm a teacher on a tight budget (especially over the summer). I'd be happy to pay shipping if you have anything. Thanks for considering. :-) Samantha
  3. This may seem like a silly question, my doctor gave me a perscription for Prevacid after surgery. I figured it was because sleevers get heartburn more frequently?! My surgery was two months ago. I saw on another forum somebody asked about their weight loss stalling and someone asked if they were taking Prevacid or something similar. Now I'm wondering if there is anothe reason my doc gave it to me. Thanks for your help and insight!
  4. Hey there... GO GATORS! My husband and I are both UF alumni. Do you live in FL? I'm in Cape Coral. I was sleeved on April 5th. I had some pudding I think on day 5 or day 6. My doctor called and I asked him if I could try and he said yes. I could only eat about a tablespoon at that point, though. Good luck to you. I'm almost 2 months out...it gets easier!

    Soda?

I was sleeved April 5, 2010...I had a revision from the band that was put in December 29, 2008. With both the sleeve and the band soda makes me feel really full and bloated. My doctor says it's a no-no. Ironically, I collect Coca Cola and my entire kitchen is ALL Coke. I don't really have a desire for it anymore. I can take a couple sips of my husband's Coke Zero, then I remember and don't feel so good. Some cola junkies will wait until soda goes flat. I'd rather just have iced tea. :-)

    I need size 16 clothes!

Thanks to Anne for the clothes...I will send you a check this week for shipping. The pants have come in handy for the last month of school! If anybody else has 16's or 14's they are willing to part with, I'll pay shipping!

    Anemic?

I'm just over a month post-op (was sleeved on 4/5/10). At my last doctor's visit I found out that I'm anemic. My doctor gave me precription iron pills to take 3 times daily. They make me really nauseous...even when I take them with food. I finally stopped taking them and started eating raw spinach salads for lunch, iron fortified oatmeal occasionally and sunflower seeds (all have lots of iron). I'm feeling better...less tired and less pale looking. I was just wondering if anyone else went through the same thing post-op.

I mean when I got the *sleeve* last month, lol.

    I need size 16 clothes!

Hi Kabranda, I'm 5'7 so I don't think they would work. Thanks for thinking of me. I hope somebody has something that would work for you, too. Hey Tiffy and Luv...THANK YOU! I can't believe how sweet everybody is on here! I was in a size 28 before my band. When I got the band last month I was in a 20. Now the 18's are swimming on me. I haven't been a size 14 since high school. The thought of needing size 16 and size 14 has made me giddy! THANK YOU so much.
  10. When I had the lap band in Feb of 2008, I confided in a teacher at the school I teach at who then told the entire staff. When I had my revision on April 5th of this year, I told everyone. My students (7th and 8th grade) have been the most supportive of all...go figure. :-)

    Has anyone tried these?

My local Target carries the Penne kind. My local grocery store (Publix) carries spaghetti, angel hair and macaroni.
  12. Hi Nice Girl, I live in SW Florida. I had surgery 2 days before you. I'm still on full liquids. I have not been able to meet my liquid or protein goals yet and I have experienced the pain you've talked about. I'm not allowed to try mushies until Monday. Take it easy and sip, sip, sip.

    Has anyone tried these?

I agree with Tiff. I've been hooked on Dreamfields pasta for years. It comes in a black box. It only has 5 digestible carbs. It is so good too! I'm still on full liquids *sigh*
  14. Hi all... I had surgery Monday. I've been sleeping constantly but feeling better every day (aside from starting my period yesterday, ugh!). I have a couple of question, though: My stomach is constantly LOUD...growling, gurgling, etc. Does that stop? It's growling like I'm starving (which I haven't eaten in forever so I probably am). I've taken Gas-X strips which help for an hour or so but then I feel the gas again. When I drink too much too fast I get a severe pain (when I had the band I could drink more as long as I wasn't eating). Is this just because I'm so fresh out of surgery? Do you feel the same way months after with liquid? I'm dizzy a lot and light headed. I'm hoping when I start full liquids this will go away. Any suggestions? Finally...I haven't lost a single pound. I know I'm bloated AND I'm on my period...AND I probably shouldn't be weighing myself...but surgery 5 days ago and not a single pound down?! Thanks for your responses and help.
  15. I was sleeved on Monday morning. I'm sipping all day but having trouble getting a large amount of liquids. I feel really tight when I drink and I hear gurggle noise. Plus I still have the gas from surgery. I'm just hoping this is normal. Thanks for your reponses.
  16. Hi Kim! Just wanted to let you know I'm thinking about you. I got home this afternoon. I've been gradually feeling better every hour. I hope you're doing okay!

  17. Thanks Tiff. The last 48 hours have been a roller coaster. I'm feeling okay, taking pain and nausea meds and sipping water. You really are an inspiration to me. I'm at 221 right now, so ready for "onederland." Tyring to keep my eyes on the prize. :-)

9 month post update with AW photos

I'm having surgery tomorrow and I think seeing your pictures was the first time I smiled in at least 48 hrs. You look incredible. Thanks for posting!
  19. I agree, strained wonton soup is my favorite. I like strained chicken noodle a lot better than chicken broth. My nutrionist suggested freezing lemons and limes in ice cubes...that is good in water, too!

    1 day post op

Congrats! You are making me feel better. My surgery is tomorrow at 5:30 am!
  21. I'm having surgery on April 5th and am excited/nervous to get the sleeve. I had lap band surgery in December of 2008 (15 months ago) and have basically had a leak since day 1. I'm excited to finally have my band removed and a sleeve. I have some quesitons I was hoping you could help me answer: 1. I know everybody is different, but how long did you stay in the hospital? I'm having surgery early Monday morning and I'm hoping I will be able to go home Monday night (my doctor says it's a possibility). I went home the same day when I had the band put in. 2. How long were you on liquids after surgery? I think I'm on clears for a week. 3. The week of my surgery is my spring break (I'm a middle school teacher). I will have that week to recover plus I'm taking another week off (2 weeks total). I'm constantly on my feet and moving when I'm at work...although I don't do any physical labor. Do you think 2 weeks is enough recovery time? 4. I've read that some people have clear Protein on after surgery when they're on the clear diet...I've bought the clear powder before (flavorless). Do you just add it to Crystal Light or something? 5. Is there anything you wish you would have brought to the hospital that you didn't? I remember after my band I was happy I brought Chap Stick...just wondering if there is any other little comforts I should think of. Thanks for reading my ramble. Any thoughts/advice/suggestions are appreciated!

    Banded and gaining

You should have your surgeon check and see if you have a leak. I have a leak and getting a sleeve revision next Monday! My insurance wouldn't cover it unless there was a flaw in the band.
  23. Hello, I was banded 12-29-08 (just about a year ago) and my doc discovered a leak in my band. He gave me the option of getting a new band or a sleeve. He highly suggested the sleeve. I decided yesterday (my bandiversary) to go with the sleeve. I'm nervous and scared. My husband got a band on 2-16-09 and has had great success. It took a while to figure out that I had a leak...the excuse "men lose weight faster" was always said. I am have always had a huge phobia of needles...I've passed out just at the sight of them. I'm proud of myself for having band surgery but never thought a year later I'd be looking at another surgery! Anyway, I'm 30 and live in SW Florida. I'd love to hear from any of you as I continue this crazy weight loss journey!

    Need band removal...thinking sleeve...

Thanks to all of you. I'm feeling a little bit better. I've been having nightmares...trying to calm myself down. I like that this surgery is laproscopic, too. I'm a middle school teacher, from what my doctor said the recovery time (before going back to work) will be about 2 weeks. Does that seem right? Also he said I'd probably spend 1 night in the hospital (I didn't spend the night with my band, although my husband did). I appreciate the support from all of you! I am already starting to gain weight back as there's no liquid in my band...looking forward to getting a surgery date!

    De-Banding and Gastric Sleeve

I am going to have to get my band removed due to a leak. I am thinking about the gastric sleeve. I saw your post was in Sept. How are you doing now?
