I live in Cape Coral. What doctor are you going with? My BCBS does cover lap band, I've had my first seminar and will go for my first apt. Thursday.

I went to a seminar about 2 weeks ago. I was finally called for a consultation but the doctor's hours are only on Monday and Tuesday mornings. I'm a teacher, so I'll end up taking the whole day off. My insurance wants 6 months of "documented attempt at weight loss" before they will approve. Did anyone run into this? I'll call to make my consultation apointment tomorrow. I just feel like I'm on the slow road. I would love to get banded this summer since I'm a teacher, but I fear I'll have to wait at least 6 months to document my weight loss. Did anybody else have to go through this?

I bought 2 pair of Spanx at Lane Bryant...one pair were like shorts the other were capri length. They do smooth, but I don't need smoothing...I need sucking in! When I wear a cute dress, I need tummy control. Spanx just don't do it for me!

Hi... I went to my first seminar a couple of weeks ago. I called BCBS to see what the qualifications are for the procedure. The woman said my plan didn't cover lap band. I knew that it was. She put me on hold then was rude to me and said "I misread, the procedure is covered by your plan." I couldn't believe that this woman's mistake could have changed my life. I am just starting out on this journey, but I appreciate the encouragement when you hit a brick wall. Good luck to you, I'll say a prayer for a speedy approval!

I was just wondering if anyone had experience with Dr. Moses Shieh in SW Florida (he formerly practiced in Colorado). I have a seminar with him Thursday. Thanks for your replies!

I'm in Cape Coral. How do you find stats on your doctor?

I know what you mean about your 130-lb. doctor. I bought phentermine off the internet when my doctor declined a script. I had chest pains and my heart raced, needless to say I stopped taking it. I started taking Alli and I haven't had too much loss and lots of side effects. My doctor has not been a help. You can really search for doctors that were fat and understand the struggle. I found a seminar myself and I'm going Thursday. Hopefully if the band is what I choose (which right now seems like an awesome option) I pray that my doctor will refer me. Good luck to you.
