Not bad. They gave us lots of good information and showed us what the Surgery looked like. I was shocked they contacted me the next day to set up the nut class and the 1st meeting with the surgeon. How about you?

Were you at Sutter Eden Hospital with the Alta Bates group? I think we were in the same session if so. Wanna be Surgery buddies?

I look forward to following your success. I just started the process and have similar stats -
Any other Chefs/Sues/Cooks out there who have had the surgery? How did it effect your work?

How did it go? I'm curious about the change bc I love to cook and bake and I'm worried I won't be able to make Stuff for others -
My info packet said 4-6 weeks. I know people who only took two weeks and others who took a month. I can probably only afford to take about 2 weeks off. Your probably going to need to see how you feel and what your doctor suggests

Just starting the process??

I had my first seminar at Eden with the Sutter Alta Bates group. I was impressed with the time they took to explain everything and how chill they were. They have us info packet and said to give them a couple weeks to get in contact to schedule or first consult and start scheduling the classes and testing. I'm excited and nervous and worried and excited and scared. -
I feel you on this. Much of my identity and my relationship with my husband seems to revolve around food. I love to bake and going out to eat, we talk about food all the time. He only eats meat, complex carbs, fruit and sugar. I'm terrified of the strain this surgery could put on our relationship. I just started this process but after thinking about it for over 6 months, I feel confident that 1. I need to do it. 2. My husband and I are going to need to go to therapy to deal with this in a healthy manner. We are going to need to hash out some game plans for tackling several food related issues together so we avoid creating a hole in our marriage. I with you the best of luck on this journey.

I'm so anxious to get started. I have an *** so my PCP had to refer me to the surgeon to start the program and monitored diet thing. I had some blood work done and my cholesterol is off the charts ... over 300, my vitamin D is too low, my liver ALT was too high. I'm falling apart. Even my sleep apnea seems to be getting worse. My first intro seminar to the program is in a couple weeks and I can't wait!

My first seminar is in a couple weeks. I can't wait to get this show on the road. -
I agree with Frust8 I have a psychiatrist for my meds but they rarely have any interest in speaking to me. Therapy is about working out those issues and learning healthy coping mechanisms.

Are you able to seek out a therapist that can help with the anxiety?

I think this is why they usually enforce a waiting period, classes on nutrition, stress management, exercise and psych evaluation. They want to prepare you for your new life by arming you with the tools to be successful. Im also nervous about starting the process but I'm more nervous about dying early. So I'm willing to give it a try.

How close do they look at your height? I'm about to meet a new doctor on my new insurance in a new town. If they say I'm 5'8 my bmi is 40... If they say I'm 5'9 It's 39.5... I have mild sleep apnea, one kidney, and high cholesterol.

Me too. I'm hopeful that having switched insurance and starting with a new doctor won't mess anything up. -
