  1. I had my surgery with Dr. Leport in FV on April 2, 2008. He is a FABULOUS doctor. He was so patient and gentle with everything. I have never once felt like I was bothering him or his physician assistants with all my questions. Are you planning to have your surgery at Orange Coast or Fountain Valley hospital? Good luck! I highly recommend going to a couple of support group meeting before your surgery - a lot of answered questions!
  2. I had my surgery on April 2nd through PacifiCare. It took me 2 years to get it approved, but they eventually did. I haven't had any problems since the approval. I would make sure you call and talk to them about your specific benefits and how they would handle your situation since you will already have had the surgery. Also, check to see if your surgeon accepts PacifiCare so you can hopefully stay with the same doctor. Good luck!
  3. I got ProCel protein powder and added it to my juice. That helped get my needed amount of protein. You can also add the powder to yogurt, refried beans, or whatever you have to eat. Good luck!
  4. I had my surgery a week and a half ago and am on the pureed stage. I have been taking at least 3 walks a day. I was wondering if it is normal to be sweating so much. I don't just sweat during my walks, but also when I am just sitting watching tv. does anyone else have or have had the same issue?:confused2:

    Rewards

I totally know what you mean about massages. I have never had one because I too don't know how I feel about someone touching me. My friend said to try just a shoulder one to start.

    Rewards

Those rewards sound good! Here are a few ideas... A day at the spa (nails, facial, massage?, whatever you enjoy) A new dress or outfit that you might not normally spend the money on New make-up Go for a special outing (museum, movie, etc) Thats all I have for now. I would love to hear other ideas you come up with and I will let you know if I think of anymore. Good luck!!!
  7. Hello Everyone! I had my lap band surgery on April 2, 2008 by Dr. LePort in Fountain Valley, California. I came upon this site and thought it could help to join a community of people who have had or are going to have this surgery. It was a decision that took a long time to decide upon, but once I did (and after the two & a half years of fighting my insurance) I was excited about getting healthy! I am trying my best to look at the whole picture and not on the little obstacles I am having. I have already lost 13 pounds, so I am excited about my progress so far. I would love to get to know more people in the same boat as me. And I am more than willing to answer questions anyone may have. I know I'm not too far on this road yet, but whatever I can do to help someone would be my pleasure. Good luck to everyone!
  8. Walking helps ALOT! Even if its just a short walk down the driveway or around the house. I had a lot of air rumbling around and that seemed to help a lot. It did take quite a few days for that to go away though, so be as patient as you can. Sometimes laying flat on your back with your knees bent up helps too. Hope this helps. Good luck and just remember that it WILL pass!

    What are your non-scale-related goals?

Hmmm.... such a thought-provoking topic... To shop at a non plus size store To sit at a booth without worrying if I will fit To wrap a towel around myself and have it fit To get off pain meds for my spine To not always be the largest person in my group of friends To be able to cross my legs like a lady  To FEEL HEALTHY I will have to keep thinking about more goals like this because I think they will really help me along the road. I am not wanting to get caught up on numbers on the scale, but to see how my body and life as a whole are changing.

    Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

I had my band surgery on April 2nd with Dr. LePort in Fountain Valley,CA. I am on the second stage already, enjoying my pureed foods. But I am really looking forward to next Wednesday when I get to eat some REAL food again. I have so missed chewing! Anyone have ideas on pureed foods that you found? The best for me so far is homemade applesauce made with splenda and a chinnamon stick. YUM! Good luck to all!
