Don’t worry it’s super easy. They usually give you propofol which is an anesthesia drug in your IV. You don’t remember a thing but wake up like you had the best nap ever. The worst part is probably getting the IV at the beginning. Your throat might be a little scratchy but that usually goes away in an hour. The whole thing takes less than an hour but you will need someone with you to drive you home. My doctor did mine during my surgery because there wasn’t time before. -

I am sure there are several threads about this but when I try to search a gazilion threads come up. I am post op day 6 and on full liquids. I noticed that I can easily down a cup of jello or pudding in 10 min without a problem. I don’t feel full at all. I have stretched it out to 20 min but doesn’t make a difference. Also since I can have cream soups I made some cream of potato and was able to eat 1/2 a cup in 10 min easily. I still never feel full. Is this normal?

Yeah they like the thickit powder it has no taste and just mixes into the thin liquids. I didn’t know they had all those other foods available.
-
That’s pretty cool! Thickit is something I use in the hospital a lot to thicken up patients liquids who have dysphasia or issues swallowing. Luckily with my Dr. I do a soft stage but not a puréed stage.
-
Yeah I have had several in fact. I think I figured it out though. I blend my shakes with protein powder in my nutra bullet and it makes half of it super foamy which I drank yesterday. I think that’s what made me so gassy.
-
I have been drinking water and premiere protein shakes with a scoop of syntax nectar and a scoop of PB2. I have been allowed to have cream soups since day 3 but every time I have tried I got super nauseous. I also eat sugar free jello/pudding and sugar free popsicles.
-
Congrats!! That’s awesome

So you use peppermint for nausea and digestion? Where do you put it? My mom swears by essential oils. I do think one of my biggest problems is I am not walking enough. I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks and I live alone. So I am anxious to go for walks because I worry what if something happens to me out in the street like I faint. My family has been by to walk with me once a day but it’s not enough. I just can’t get over this anxious feeling that if I walk outside alone something bad with happen. I wish I had a treadmill!

I was doing way better besides constant mental hunger until today. I am 5 days post op and am just now feeling bloated and having pretty severe gas pains in my chest and shoulders. I am sure it will pass. Thanks for checking up on me!
-
Yeah I have a heating pad I tried and I took a couple gas x strips. The pain in the shoulder is better but now I just feel so bloated it hurts.
-
Ok I am five days post op and have had very little pain except right after surgery. Today I was just chilling in my recliner when I got this burning stabbing pain that rolled up into my chest, left shoulder and left shoulder blade. I felt like I needed to burp but no matter how much I burped the pain got worse. Then I got super nauseous and every time I dry heaved a puff of gas would come out. My stomach is all bloated and painful too. I don’t understand what happened? I didn’t drink anything different or do anything different. I got super light headed too, so I called my surgeon who said this is normal post op gas pain. How can I get rid of this? I tried walking, gas x, and laying down. Nothing seems to help much.
-
I am four days post op too and just drank a whole protein shake in 10 min! I didn’t even think about it till I got super nauseous. I have been able to drink plenty of water and tea without any issues. At first I thought there was no way I could get it all down and now I am scared it’s too easy to get it all down. I am guessing because it’s water it enters and exits the pouch pretty quickly. It doesn’t linger there like food or something thicker. You will be fine!
