  1. I have been scheduled for Gastric Bypass Surgery on June 6th. I have read all kinds of books and researched online about this surgery. Until recently I was very excited and confident. Now that I am getting closer to the date, I getting really scared. I live in North Dakota. There are no support groups anywhere near me. I have to lose weight so that I can get my knees fixed so I have to do this, but just scared.

Most of us have been in your shoes! This forum is great because you meet people that are experiencing the same thing. Its ok to be scared, but don't let it deter your decision. Before you know it, your surgery will be over and off to recovery you go. Allow yourself to vent... we'll listen. You can do this [emoji4][emoji6]

  2. Hallo everyone,
I had my surgery on May 10th. In the hospital my shoulder and neck started to hurt (I think from lying in bed) and now at home I have a body ache for the last 3 days. It feels a bit like the ache when you have a virus infection. It goes away with the pain meds but I think, I could go down with these if there wasn’t the body ache. Did someone else experience it??

I would suggest calling your surgeon. Hope you feel better soon.

  3. O wow that’s really good because those shakes can really put a dent. I was actually wondering the other day how come seniors can qualify for ensure but we can’t qualify for Protein but I guess it’s prob because this is an elective procedure.
Don’t let them give you the generic ones 🤢

  4. DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED... can you believe they changed my date. NY Presbyterian had the audacity to tell me that they didn’t have an operating room for this Monday coming up the 15th and that I had to be rescheduled for the 21st. I can’t even recite what I said to them because it’ll be a bunch of *********** ** **** ******** ******* but I was livid. Now I’m just sad that I have to wait another week.

Sorry to hear that... are you still on your liquid diet? If so, how are you feeling?

  5. Would love any tips and tricks nd looking for mentor , i am scheduled for first week of june, pls help with any advice....Thanks a lot.

Make sure you have your liquids for pre and post op... don't forget the sugar free popsicles! A friend have me a bottle of Biotene and I was so happy she did. After surgery you tend to have dry mouth and lips so pack some ChapStick! Breathe and relax. Before you know it, its over. Afterwards, walk, walk and walk even if you don't feel like it. You can thank me later! [emoji6][emoji23][emoji4]

  6. I really need some help, I am trying to keep to my SHOPPING list but I keep getting so depressed when I walk down the isles and see all the food I love and can't have, and I always end up getting something that I am not supposed to have and than I feel so bad, please help, any suggestions would help.

When you go shopping, are you hungry? If so, make sure you eat before you go. Only take enough money for what's on your list.
