Don't feel bad, I did the same thing. I looked under challenges too -
Sick and thirsty and regretting
johnsons13 replied to smm86's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I got sick of water, then sick of black coffee, then sick of this and that through my 6 months. I have realized I have to change it up where I'm not going to get of something. Instead of eating a turkey breast I cooked all week, I might eat it with a scrambled egg and pico de gallo. I might make a turkey salad, or just leave it in the fridge for a day. My water, I bought an infuser on amazon, and I have been actually having fun playing with flavors. I recommend being careful with the cayenne if you try lemon and cayenne. I love spicy food and dumped it in there. -

I've always enjoyed citrus fruits over anything and now that I have an infuser, it makes it yummier. Especially since I had help here on the pal. But I also have some flavor packet things like Crystal Light, but since we are ballin on a budget, it's the Great Value brand. If water is cold, I love it even plain. When it gets ball temperature that's when I need some enhancer. -
Infused water is my go to lately.

My Dr office considers black decaf coffee with just sweetener or any decaf tea as part of my "clear" fluids. But if we want just water I can do that for this challenge. -
The only time my Dr's office recommended "kid" vitamins was when I couldn't stomach the ones I had while I was waiting for the new ones to come in. She said I could chew one of my son's Flinstone vitamins to at least get something in me. But I couldn't depend on them for good. Like you said Matt, she said they didn't have enough to meet my requiremnts and they also contain more sugar.

Just looking for any ideas to when I’ll have an appetite
johnsons13 replied to Mrs Davis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to buy GNC protein powder and only mix with water because the milk based ones were too thick for me too. I also tried some my Dr office gave me samples of and some my tummy couldn't tolerate. But I still had to stay clear of the ones with milk because of the density. -

That's what I was planning to do. I started yesterday inputting on both apps and boy that was frustrating. I told the hubby I was doing this challenge and what I was doing with both apps, then I said maybe I'll just track water and weight because by the time I logged in both places I was so flustered I wanted to throw my phone. (Anger issues) -
That's awesome on your weight loss so far. There are so many of us on here that can and will help with the accountability, but you have to do your part and reach out.

Is it supposed to be like this?
johnsons13 replied to B Garcia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had pain but I moved around a lot to get the gas moving and out. I am assuming you are on liquids which means you will have diarrhea. Liquid in, liquid out. This horrible, I hate the decision I made, this isn't what I signed up for will pass. It might pass like a kidney stone, but it will pass. I had pains in places I never imagined could hurt. I've had a lot of abdominal surgeries from pregnancies and other crap so I kinda knew what it would feel like but this was different because of all the many holes I had. Did the Dr prescribe you any pain meds? I came home with liquid Tylenol because I'm a recovering addict. But the Tylenol really helped. It didn't take the pain completely away, but made it manageable. I also had a drainage bulb attached to me for an extra week and I know some Dr's take them out before you leave the hospital. -
I had the same issue and still do, but I found a multi with iron and recommended dose of calcium and all I have to take is an extra calcium a day and one extra b12 a week. Bari Life has a multi that you can put in water like crystal lite and it is milky and looks nasty, but the lemon tastes like lemonade and the watermelon tastes like watermelon. I went on their website and asked for a free sample. My Dr office had another brand and mentioned this one but didn't have samples of the Bari Life. The other brand I tried tasted exactly how multi's smell with a hint of fruit. But I LOVE the Bari Life.

I'm the same. I have an app that I love that I use for my food, water, weight loss, etc. But I downloaded the mfp again just for the challenge. I was going to switch, but I still like my other one -

I'm looking forward to this. A healthy friendly challenge. Are we going to check in nightly or daily with our days or previous days intake? -
Congrats on your surgery and what is important is everyone is safe/healthy/ and fed.

I seriously need to invest in one or a few of those. -
Take chapstick with you. Walk as soon as you can for the gas to move around and out. Congrats btw.

I have 2 boys that were 6 and 7 when I had my surgery in April. Yes, our kids need us and depend on us for life to life things, but if we don't get better we might not be here permanently. I told my boys exactly what I was doing and they went to my appt with me to see the surgeon. I call them my little ducks because they follow me everywhere. I homeschool and my boys are literally with me constantly. I wanted them to know mommy was getting healthy. They told me I didn't need surgery because I was beautiful the way I was. But I had to tell them that my heaviness is what makes me check my sugar and give myself insulin, etc. I was selfish to be unselfish. This isn't a cosmetic surgery, this is a surgery to help you change your life and become healthier for yourself and your babies.

I have United Health Care and I had forgotten that my surgeon had submitted for my approval. I swear I think they took the full 15 days. I don't know how your dr office works, but mine knew already what I needed to be approved and we did all the requirements and made sure they were made to the insurance specs before submitting for approval.

I'm going to have to download mfp on top of what I use just so I can get involved. I'm always up for a fun challenge. -
My surgeon automatically sent me home with a year refills on omeprazole. I don't even have to take it. I get acid reflux from time to time, but nothing like the times I was pregnant. I was so scared getting the sleeve because I had heard the reflux was worse. But so far, I'm doing good.

Was your emergency surgery from the WLS? How often do you get checkups now?
-
Congrats starting yours. I love Georgia. That was where my Daddy was from. I've always wanted to live there. I stay getting rashes, but I thought it was just me.

Is losing 50% of excess weight the standard?
johnsons13 replied to Briswife15's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm 5'2 and started at 234. I've lost 54ish pounds and my doctors goal weight for me is 140. That is still above normal by a little bit but he never gave me a goal in the beginning. It wasn't until my 6 month post op when he gave me his idea weight for me. So from beginning to finally reaching goal weight is losing 94 pounds. I've lost 57 percent of excess weight. The formula they gave me is pounds lost divided by pounds to lose X 100= percent lost. Mine looks like this: 54/94(100)= 57%
