    Wearing cpap after surgery?

I would wear it because the obstruction from snoring can probably cause you to wake up at multiple times throughout the night.. your body needs all the sleep it can get to fully heal. Least that’s what was said to me when I had my sleep study done :/

    Maintaining weight to get approved?

I’m glad to see this statement because I’m at 41.48 so basically I have to maintain but what I’m worried about is that I’d screw myself up in the end when the time comes and I have to give up (all of a sudden) all of those things that helped me maintain that’s why I thought it was insane that girl did it.. It’s got me thinking if I’m okay without surgery (even though I’ll probably follow through with it) it just seems crazy someone would do it like that

    Maintaining weight to get approved?

Well, I myself started at 289 in February and lost some weight.. I’m now 257 (as of last Tuesday) which puts me at a BMI of 41.48 or something like that and I still have one more nutritional visit left. So now I’m like thinking about this person who told me what she told me and now I’m thinking do I have to maintain at this point? I’ve been following the diet(eating habits) to the T and taking my required supplements.. I still have to do a follow up appointment with the surgeon.. then submit to insurance for approval. I’m nervous now

    I can't make a decision

Mentally and emotionally I don’t think you’re ready @cashmeresndbones sounds like you don’t wanna feel ‘left out’ while you’re bettering your health. I’ve gone through all those questions myself 5 years ago and decided to try and do it myself.. I did manage to lose weight (50 lbs) gained it all back and some.. fast forward five years later and here I am going through the whole process again. ..but to each there own

    Fighting the Negativity

I think something is wrong with her for making someone else feel like there is something wrong with them. I think you know your body best and only you can and should do what’s best for you.. I have little to no support with the exception of my fiancé supporting.. I have family and friends telling me that I should just workout because I’ve lost 31 lbs on my own(not keto diet) just low fat low carb and high protein diet.. they don’t understand that it’s not about them and that it’s not about just losing weight (there’s a lot of reasons ) everyone’s reason is different (personally, I have been limited to doing thing with my daughter) I’d like to sit on the floor with her and play games , go on field trips with her at school..etc.. the list goes on. I’ve already told a couple people to suck me sideways and keep their stupid comments to themselves. So with that being said? .. no, I don’t think there is anything wrong with you. That lady needs to just shut up and find something better to do with herself than to put others down.

    This didn't work for me

Some of the posts (in relation to the stomach issues every four hours) have suggested PPI I’m curious if anyone had or has taken Ranitidine? my doctor said it’s suppose to be better than nexium. How true is this? Also, to the original poster on this thread. You’ve come this far along you’re journey and probably doing awesome! How are you feeling now since the surgery? I’m due for mine in the middle of Aug
  7. I have one more nutritional visit and one pre-op diet nutritional visit before I see the Surgeon and submitting to insurance. If all goes well, I’ll be scheduled for mid Aug as well

How have you been feeling since the procedure?

In what way have you changed?

I haven’t gotten surgery yet but so far I have not only purged my cupboards from the garbage I used to eat but also my life.. I’ve eliminated anything and everything toxic. I’ve gone back to basics when it comes to taking care of me...in words of my therapist, don’t be afraid to tell someone to F off if they don’t support you or love you. Saying yes to things you were once afraid to say yes to and live with no regrets.. this has opened doors for me within the last five short months. I can only imagine what time will bring once the rest of this weight comes off with surgery. Staying focused on being positive and being a good person...

Having to lose 14-20lbs before surgery

Sharifah, I was told to lose some weight as well. It helps shrink the liver and aides in recovery time as well as making the procedure that much more successful. I started the Baritatric program end of FEB 2018 weight at 289.. after my first visit with my nutritionist (in March) I weighed 275-276.. after eliminating sodas, juices or anything high calories and carbs. I’ve already lost quite a few lbs. I’m two appointments away from starting pre-op weighing at 260 today.. I’ve lost ‘too much’ lol for my height I’m below the required BMI to get approved so now I have to gain a pound and maintain. You can do it! sounds like you really want this and you can make it happen just take it one step at a time. Remember to hit at least 10,000 steps a day and eating like the nutritionist is asking you to, you’ll lose weight (slowly but surely!) :)

    To tell coworkers or not?

Well, I started off being open about it but I can feel the judgement from certain individuals about it.. If I could go back in time? I’d keep it to myself

    It’s hard to believe...

Congrats ASH!! Very inspiring!! I hope to be there myself soon... I’m three nutritional visits away from pre-op diet 😱 any tips on how the weight came off so fast? did you increase workout?
  13. Hello everyone, I’m fairly new to the site.. maybe a few months. I am about two and a half months away from getting surgery. Anyone else from CT, USA??

    H-pylori bug

@moondoggie1983 I noticed I had it when I was getting bloated from just drinking anything (even water) and couldn’t stop burping.. I felt overwhelmingly bloated and nauseous, had loss of appetite, heartburn, I was tired all the time and anemic. My doctor at the time thought that it could’ve been a thyroid condition but also looked like the bacteria Hpylori.. so she did a series of blood tests and that is when I got the call that I needed to start treatment ASAP.. the way the RN told me over the phone was that if it isn’t treated it could later on cause ulcers.. I’ve been tested since that first outbreak and have not had it since (knock on wood) I don’t want it again.

I fell off my wagon :/

I’m less than halfway through and fell off my healthy habits .. I’m thinking about just giving up at this point. I am having a hard time getting back on with the good eating habits... I’ve been under a lot of stress and haven’t had much time to redirect my head hunger towards something positive like working out. Been debating on calling the nutritionist and telling her what’s been going on and if I should just put things on hold for now •36 •5’6 •Beginning W/378 •CW/268 •GW/140 •Surgery date is still unknown •RNY •From CT

I fell off my wagon :/

Thank you! [emoji120] I appreciate your support [emoji173]️ I have faith that things will be ok.. she’s doing so much better now .. I still am going to take her to the Urologist children’s hospital (about an hr away from home) they have to do additional tests and screenings. As for me? I did increase more steps in my day working out long during the day when she’s at school... which helps keep me distracted and manage to lose 5 lbs since I posted the original post on this thread.. My upcoming nutritionist appt is the 22nd so it’s a good thing I lost as she likes to see some progress. (Shows her that I’m doing what I’m told)to get the clearance from her) it’s hard though.. very hard.. Staying focus, none the less! •36 •5’6 •Beginning W/378 •CW/268 •GW/140 •Surgery date is still unknown •RNY •From CT

I fell off my wagon :/

I had a long talk with my doctor about what’s been going on with my daughter’s health and he understands the amount of stress especially having to deal with the requirements for this procedure to even be possible. He said to hang in there and just go through the whole process and if it’s something that I can’t do because of my daughter’s health he said he can at least submit and get a prior authorization from insurance and just have it for the allotted time they give you to use it. I think it’s 30 days? I could be wrong. We’ll see. She’s definitely doing better, however I need to travel an hr away to get her tested and checked for her kidneys.. I did increase my workout and get out of the house a lot more while she’s at school to keep my mind distracted... trying really hard to stay focused (manage to lose another 5 lbs) which is nice because the nutritionist wants to see some loss on the diet she’s got me on. •36 •5’6 •Beginning W/378 •CW/268 •GW/140 •Surgery date is still unknown •RNY •From CT

    H-pylori bug

I had H-pylori about 15 yrs ago and from what I remember from the treatment I was on it for three months (about the same amount of pills) shortly after finishing my treatment I started to develop strange food allergies to dairy, bread (anything pasta) it was horrible. Fast forward to today I was checked to see if I had fully recovered from it (because I’m two months away from surgery date) the doctor wanted to make sure it was fully gone before moving on. I came back negative for it (so the treatment was worth it) I just didn’t expect it to last as long as it did (not sure if that’s a case by case basis though) thinking back three months felt like a year. I hope you feel better soon.. definitely not fun having that especially after surgery •36 •5’6 •Beginning W/378 •CW/268 •GW/140 •Surgery date is still unknown •RNY •From CT

I fell off my wagon :/

I don’t know how to change the sleeve to RNY. When I created the account that’s what I was going for but later found out that the RNY would be better option due to my hiatal hernia. I’m a little more than halfway through the process, my surgery date isn’t scheduled until after my fifth nutritional visit (in June) Just dealing with my 8 yr old having kidney problems has taken an emotional and mental toll on me.. kidney problems run in my family and I’ve already lost a nephew at the age of 10 due to kidney failure so it’s beyond stressful hearing she’s got issues with her kidneys. •36 •5’6 •Beginning W/378 •CW/268 •GW/140 •Surgery date is still unknown •RNY •From CT

    Initial meeting with nutritionist?

At my first visit, I got a bunch of paperwork on what I should avoid, what I should be eating and sample meals for the week. How often to chew, what to drink and how often. The types of vitamins I’ll be able to tolorate after surgery (that was the first visit) she then asked me what are my downfalls and what I have been doing to avoid those downfalls. Exercise and often.. By my third visit she tested my eye measuring and see if I can spot different portions and what I should really be eating. ive learned a lot

    Plastics

Someone I know had plastic surgery done after major weight loss. She waited two years and maintained her weight during those two years before going under the knife again for complete body reshaping and breast lift with breast implants.

Primary care doc doesn’t like WLS

The only thing I mentioned to him OB related was the miscarriage I had less than a year ago and how heavy my period was after that (they’re not heavy anymore). I then told him that my OB told me that my miscarriage could have been weight related (one of the reasons why I want to lose this weight) is to have at least one more baby before I can’t have anymore. Far as PCOS, I’ve never been diagnosed with it. He did blood work and everything came back normal except for iron levels(they were extremely low)..the good news is, I’m not diabetic 🤷‍♀️ •36 •5’6 •Beginning W/378 •CW/268 •GW/140 •Surgery date is still unknown •RNY •From CT
