Losing while eating???
Nikki_Nik87 replied to FatBlocker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes! Your body is adjusting to having more food again. I am 5 months post -op (sleeve) about week 4 i strayed the same weight about 2 weeks and then started losing steadily again. 5 months out and I'm still losing about 3 to 4lbs a week. Exercise is the key! I started off doing it 2-3 times a week and now I go to the gym 4 times a week. It also depends on how much you have to lose too. Heavier people like myself lose it a little faster. Don't worry! You got this! 😊 -
How long did you take off of work?
Nikki_Nik87 replied to mommamiller's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My job is both desk and active. I work in a health care type setting as well and Doctor had me out 4 weeks. I wasn't allowed to lift over 20 lbs the first month, so that and he wanted me to focus on my new lifestyle before going back to work. -

Hmm I'm not sure what could be causing that since you didn't try any new foods. I have never seen anyone on this site mention any burning sensations. Could possibly be a mild case of food poisoning? I have had the exact opposite issue; Constipation! It has been very difficult and painful to go. But I started taking milk of magnesia and that helped some.

I had the sleeve done a little over a mouth ago. I also had right shoulder pain for a week or so. It's because of the gas they put in you for surgery. I also had a had time with getting everything in. I still haven't reached protein and water goals fully yet, but it gets better. I was also told not to drink/eat tomato juice or soup at least for the 1st month due to the acidity.

Everybody is different. Many people still feel hunger, but the benefit of the surgery is you will not be able to eat nearly as much as you were pre-op. The first weeks were probably the worse. You're not alone when it comes to cravings. I still miss pizza and pastas (especially when its being eaten I front of you). Once you're able to eat more solid foods, you will probably feel differently. With all the anxiety and emotions, I know its tough, but try to stay positive! Good luck to you with your journey!

I'm a side/stomach sleeper. The first 4 or 5 days I slept with a bunch of pillows stacked against the wall by my bed so I could sleep up right. I slowly transitioned to my side. By maybe day 8 or 9 I had no pain laying on my side and by 2 weeks i was sleeping on my stomach again.

Any April 2018 Sleevers?!?!
Nikki_Nik87 replied to Itsnicoleee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sleeved on 4/25 and I have lost 49 lbs. so far. I mostly eat twice a day, sometimes 3 times a day. Still trying to get all my protein in. Anyone using flavorless protein powder to mix with different foods? If so, what brands mix really well with everything and truly flavorless. -

1wk Post Op- First Complication

I was really itchy after surgery too. And my skin was really dry and peeling when it finally came off. As for the diet upgrade, just take it slow. Your body will tell you what you can handle. I was nervous at first too. Start off with simple things like Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, thinned refried beans, and thinned oatmeal. -

Nerve Wreck !!!!!!!

I felt the same way right before surgery. All kinds of thoughts run through your head, but it's a pretty quick procedure and you are not likely to have complications. Try not to think about the negative and focus on the positives and the reasons you chose to do it. Good luck to you as you start your journey!! -
Congrats to starting your journey! To me, the pre -op diet was very difficult, but try to stick with it so surgery will go smoothly (some surgeons will not stop surgery if your liver is to large). Good luck! Can't wait to hear about your success!

Medical and phase 2 food options
Nikki_Nik87 replied to BIGRO361's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I never thought about getting a medical bracelet, but good idea. The first things I tried was greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and refried beans. Then introduced canned tuna and chicken, ground meats and thin sliced deli meat. I can also have soft cooked veggies. Recipes I have been using recently is riccotta bake, turkey taco bowl, hamburger casserole (all without any type of bread, rice or noodles). Pinterest is my go-to site for bariatric meal ideas. -

No worries! I took no offense to your comment. I was referring to the guy who suggested that anything other than his plan was a internet troll or patients just making up their plans as they go. Every single person I have talked to has all had a different plan than I have. I even know someone who started solid foods 30 days after surgery, but all have been very successful and have had no complications. Its interesting how different everyone's journey is. -

Totally not a troll... In fact, why would someone lie about what something like that?? The day I left the hospital I was on Full Liquids (clear only in hosp.) Day 8 I went to soft foods. I just started off with the softest things like yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. Then worked my way up to ground meats. I have not once had a bad reaction to anything. I totally agree with @sillykitty, everyone's healing process is different. What works for me may not work for you. Doesn't mean our surgeons don't know what they're doing. My surgeon has a very high success rate so I doubt he'd tell me to do anything that would negatively effect me.
