  1. I went through the same feelings right before surgery. Although the majority of people who knew were very supportive, there were some negative people who had something bad to say about my decision. Like what everyone else is saying, I wish I would have done it sooner, but kept putting it off and thinking I can do without. My advice is to remember why you wanted to do it in the first place! Good luck to you on your weight loss journey!

    Gas pains after surgery

Hope everyone's gas issue has been resolved! At day 9 some of that gas pressure started to disappear. I'm on soft food now and haven't had much issues with gas. A little struggle getting in my required protein and water, but its gotten better. I'm now getting in a little more than half.

    Gas pains after surgery

That's really good! I'm at day 6 and only doing half of what you are! I've also been taking Gas-X chewables. I take 1 after my shake and 1 before bed, but the gas is still a problem. Maybe I should try 2 every 12 hrs as well.

    Gas pains after surgery

Hope that helps you! I've sleeping upright in my bed too. I'm hoping this is just something that will pass over time.

    Gas pains after surgery

Hmm, I had the sleeve done and I'm taking in about as much as you! I figured there would be more room for liquids than this. The protein shakes make me feel worse. It feels as if my stomach is up to my throat. I'm hope your situation gets better so that you do not have to be re-admitted!

    Gas pains after surgery

The walking does help some. Yesterday I walked a lot more to try and alleviate the pressure, but may have over did it because this morning I woke up in a little more pain. I haven't been taking my pain med, but this morning I did.

    Gas pains after surgery

Yes we did! I'm trying to get up and walk every hour. I didn't know we can take Gas-X. Maybe I should try that as well. I have no energy and I'm assuming it's because I'm lacking nutrients.

    Gas pains after surgery

I am 5 days post-op and I am also having trouble with gas and cramping. I'm having difficulty getting much down because of the gas. Right now I'm finishing maybe 1/2 a protein shake and a bottle and a half of water a day. Meeting the water and protein goal is so hard! When does it get easier?
  10. Hi all!! So surgery went well on Wednesday! The gas pains was definitely the worse part. I had to stay in the hospital until Friday to monitor my oxygen level issues. Pain is not too bad right now. I'm having trouble getting to both my water and protein goal. I've gotten down about 2 water bottles a day. And I finished about 3/4 of a protein shake, but was having some pain after drinking it. I'm guessing that should slowly get better.
  11. So I'm scheduled for VSG on April 25th. I am a mess of emotions right now! I have gone from extremely excited to nervous wreck, and right now I seem to be the latter. It may have something to do with me reading other's post-op horror stories? One part of me is having second thoughts and the other part of me is saying I have fought too hard to even get to this point! Anyone else felt like this leading up to the day??? 12. Glad all went well with surgery!! I'm at the hospital right now and scheduled for surgery at 7am today. I can't believe how fast this day has come! Still a little anxious, but trying to stay calm!
  13. Yesterday evening was horrible for me! I had a headache and I was very irritable. At my pre-op today, the Nutritionist told me to drink a few oz. of pickle juice or a sugar free drink with electrolytes when I have those headaches, so I'm going to try that tonight.
  14. Hoping all the 17th surgery dates went well!!! @jules1 Today is my 1st day on pre-op diet and my surgery is on April 25th. I'm having a little bit of hunger pains, but not too bad yet. I imagine by tomorrow I will feel just like you are feeling (maybe even tonight!). My diet is 2 protein shakes and my dinner is 3oz. Chicken and 3oz. Non-starchy veggies, and I can also have a sugar free Jell-O or broth in between 2 meals, and I can't exceed 800 calories!😣 Good luck to you pre-op and post-op!!
  15. @MACPOWER So happy your surgery went well!! ☺ How are you dealing with pain, if any?
  16. Thank you so much! I'm trying to relax and not think about it too much. Gosh, your day is tomorrow?! How exciting! Good luck to you! Praying you have a successful surgery and very smooth recovery! [emoji5] Sent from my SM-G930P using BariatricPal mobile app
  17. Thank you for all the advice! I'm taking in all the information I get! It is good to hear that you are now starting to feel better! I too, am an emotional/stress eater. That will be my biggest obstacle is replacing my food habit with something more healthy. I will most likely be seeking a therapist for extra support. 18. My consultation was 12/1/17 and I was approved by my insurance 3/29/18. Scheduled for surgery on April 25th. It really depends on requirements from your insurance and if your doctor also requires further testing, weight loss, etc. Sent from my SM-G930P using BariatricPal mobile app
  19. It's coming up so quick! I officially start my pre-op diet on the 18th (my surgeon only required 1 week), however this week I've made changes to my eating habits to kinda work my way into the diet. Sent from my SM-G930P using BariatricPal mobile app
