    Dating after surgery

i’m 7 months out and started dating again 3 months out. honestly, everything the person above me said is great, try and make plans for dates that don’t revolve around drinking/food. and most people don’t even notice the amount of food we eat or don’t eat, it’s really mostly something you notice yourself. also- not gonna encourage smoking weed cause that gets you nowhere on this forum, but before i was able to drink alcohol, i just suggested smoking instead of getting drinks. there’s alternatives for everything in life!! everyone has insecurities about their bodies, surgery or not! fake the confidence until you make it. anyone worth dating doesn’t care what size you are anyway, just try to remember that! although i am only 23 so my dating life might be very different from yours and some of this might be easier said than done.
  2. i’d same i’m looking at a pouch reset for both reasons. i haven’t gained any weight, i’m steadily losing (minus a 2 week stall here and there) but mainly to feel more restriction, but also behavior change because i think i’ve gotten too lenient with myself and saying “oh i can just have a taste of this”. there has to be a happy medium and i just need to find that. therapy definitely helps, and my dr says it’s major that i’m even recognizing these behaviors so she is happy with where i’m at, but i’m more hard on myself of course. i’m trying to eat proteins first, then veggies, then carbs but that’s hard to remember to do for every meal for me.
  3. i feel the same way. the ones i’ve looked at doing are essentially just what i did for the pre-op diet.
  4. hey guys, long time no post. i got the sleeve on jul 25 and have lost 102lbs since my highest weight (march 2018). i’m starting to get a little discouraged. i know after 6 months the weight loss tends to slow down but i’m having a really hard time. i’m not feeling much restriction and i feel as though i’m binging again. for me, binging has always been about the choices and the attitude, not necessarily the amount of food i eat. for instance, the other day i had a slice of pizza... which would normally be an okay thing to do but i ate it in secret and felt extremely guilty (and not that great) afterwards. i’m just looking for support/people who are in the same boat or people who have dealt with this and have overcome it. I see a therapist 1x a month about this which helps greatly in recognizing my behaviors. but curious what others have done. i have not yet tried a pouch reset, but i’ve heard good things about trying that. any advice is appreciated. TIA.

    Pre Op quitting smoking cannabis

omg i would bet any money that you had that reaction from the dab. that’s what happened to me the first time i took a dab and that was like 3 years before surgery hahaha. props to you from going 0-100 and just straight dabbing but that’s why you reacted that way.
  6. i just started a 3rd job so needless to say i’ve been back on coffee for a little over a month now. it’s fine for me, but i’m able to drink liquids with no issue and have been since the start so staying hydrated is relatively “easy”. the caffeine has been fine for me though, i wouldn’t be too scared. but maybe start with a weak coffee if you are nervous and then work your way to the good stuff

    July Sleeve

congrats everyone!! i’m down 86 since HW and 56 since surgery, slowing down but i need to start working out and i know it’ll continue. losing hair like crazy, but on biotin. having a teeny bit of difficulty making food choices (now that i can tolerate stuff i’m trying more. had 1/4 of a philly cheese steak this weekend on a trip and felt like i wanted to puke the rest of the night so lesson learned but honestly shouldn’t have done it in the first place).

    Pre Op quitting smoking cannabis

totally understand. i was already drugged up, with my mom there talking to the anesthesiologist and i go “so i’m supposed to tell you the last time i smoked weed right” and they all just laughed and were like uhh ya i guess? i think it mostly matters if you smoked like THAT day so you should be fine

    Pre Op quitting smoking cannabis

you will be fine! i stopped smoking a few days before surgery (i was smoking every day for like 2 years at that point) and i was fine. all you have to do is make sure you tell your anesthesiologist the last time you smoked in case they need to adjust your meds or anything. my dr didn’t test for marijuana pre op, just tobacco and nicotine so you should be fine if you’ve stayed away from blunts/spliffs. best of luck!!! and don’t worry!!

    Marijuana Use Post-Op

i smoked a week post op and i was fine but i vaped it so it was a bit easier. i haven’t had edibles yet cause i’m too nervous to try and i’m not sure how much i’d eat/if it’ll hit me different. i say do whatever feels comfortable, if you feel like you’re coughing a lot or have the munchies take another few days before you try again
  11. i’m struggling pretty hard with this too. i feel like i can eat a “normal amount” and that i’m screwing myself. i’ve been at a stall for the last few weeks (surgery was 7/25 and i’m down 57.4lbs since surgery) i’m fluctuating within ~5lbs currently and i feel like it has a lot to do with my eating, though i haven’t started working out yet so it could be that. now that i can eat more foods i think i’m getting too lax with myself and need some tips on how to get back in the right mindset.
