I understand it from that perspective but isn’t alcohol just as harmful, if not more? I just don’t understand the dirty looks, etc. Like, I’m 22. Im graduating college with a 3.5 GPA and, so what, I smoke weed. Doesn’t make me a bad person -
summer ‘18 surgery??? people under 30?
saygrace posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hi! i’m new to this. i just had my consultation appointment yesterday and am beginning the process of insurance approval and dates etc. i’m hoping i can be scheduled for surgery late june/early july. i’m about to be 22 so definitely interested in finding other young people to talk to about surgery and the whole process (pre and post op) CW: 345 HW: 358 GW: 200 (yikes this is my first time posting stats anywhere. wild) also more about me- been obese my entire life (literally from age 5), have **** genetics on both sides of my family, have mild binge eating disorder (which is under control), PCOS, general anxiety/depression and fun stuff- i’ll be getting a degree in interior architecture and design in may, i’m about to start grad school right after that, i live in the boston area, i love art in all forms, live music, my friends, my dogs and my weed [emoji14] -
tomorrow (4/3) i’m having my endoscopy and my second appointment with the team. so after this appointment what’s next? like when does the planning and insurance and scheduling process begin? i have BCBS MA and am getting my surgery done and Newton-Wellesley hospital [emoji5]

endo / 2nd appointment... now what!
saygrace replied to saygrace's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
yes i definitely don’t mind being unremarkable in this regard lol!! i’ve had scoliosis probably since i was like 8, so no surprise there. and i knew i had a little bit of reflux (as in if i eat spicy/acidic food i get reflux) so i wasn’t surprised by any of the findings. My next step is to attend a young adult meeting on april 26 and in the mean time cut down on my coffee/alcohol/weed intake (the coffee and alcohol have been fairly easy to cut down on) definitely easier to go through the process with others, i will keep updating as things move along! best of luck to you as well!!! -

Nice, I’m actually from Waltham! I did not call insurance. I kind of just assumed given my weight/age/history I would be a shoe-in -

so as it turns out i’m NOT getting an endoscopy. getting a barium swallow test. and it got rescheduled tomorrow which is kind of a pain in the neck. -
loving your username hahahah! i also have BCBS MA PPO so i’m curious to see how long it will take. i’m not looking to get surgery until july if it’s up to me, but now that that’s creeping up i’m getting a bit nervous. hoping i’ll be okay though since other people with this insurance seem to have no issues. let me know how it goes for you!

Where do you RESALE your pre-VSG clothes?
saygrace replied to Hopeful_GS's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
if you can, try and donate someplace local like a shelter or something. salvation army doesn’t have the greatest core values (without getting too into it or too political, they pick and choose who they donate to. which excludes LGBTQ people). but yeah definitely try poshmark (i know i’ve bought stuff from there so there’s a market for plus size clothes!) -

yeah i think that’s what it is as well, but they didn’t say anything about me going under for it? i have a normal appt with the surgeon at 915 and then the procedure at 1015 but they made it seem very nonchalant -

sounds like we’ll be going through everything together!! i’m about to turn 22 on sunday! in two weeks i have to get an upper gi? not sure what that exactly entails but i think they’re taking pics of my stomach or something? they didn’t explicitly tell me to lose weight before surgery, but they said if i can get down to 312 it would be ideal in terms of not having to be on as many medications or something along those lines. i would like to personally lose weight before surgery anyway though to get into the routine. -

Dr. Wishnia! She’s a doll. I went to the new patient meeting and am attending the young adult meeting on march 22. I just had my initial consult last week so it’s all getting to be real! -
