Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion
saygrace replied to Ylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
god i hope not 😂 i’ve tolerated milk and cheese just fine, but i am like 2 weeks behind you so maybe i’ll try again and be okay! i’ve also been insanely stressed out and that’s how my body usually reacts so i’m sure it could be anything -

so i’m not sure if this is actually dumping or if i’m just paranoid but i feel like crap. i tried enlightened ice cream tonight (4 net carbs, 3g of sugar) and i have been going to the bathroom nonstop since and i have a killer headache. send help 😩😩 -
hey guys! it’s labor day, it’s still 85 degrees even though it’s 9pm and a fruit flavored popsicle isn’t gonna cut it. i’m dying for a taste of ice cream (i’m one month post op) and i was wondering if there were any recipes for healthy ice cream or brands that you guys like

obviously you know we have to take a million vitamins and supplements. i’m on my moms healthcare plan, and we have a health equity card. normally vitamins aren’t covered under this- but since the doctor is telling me to take them and i need them to “treat” a deficiency, they could qualify to be covered. i think i’m going to write to my dr and have her write a letter of medical necessity, but in the meantime i was curious if anyone else has experience with this or maybe works in insurance and knows how i should go about getting it covered. thanks in advance!

GALS who started their journey over 300 lb+<br /> +
saygrace replied to Frustr8's topic in The Gals' Room
my highest weight was 354, however i started my journey at about 346, day of surgery i was 328, with a one week pre op diet. weight came off slow for me in the pre-op phases- my dr didn’t really care about the number so much as showing i was dedicated and starting to lose and make an effort -
Any Post Op MARIJUANA Users?
saygrace replied to VivVsg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
just gonna add to this thread! i waited 4 days post op to smoke, and i was fine. i haven’t really felt like i get the munchies (i didn’t much before surgery either) but i always try to get a few snacks ready before i smoke just in case. in the few times i have had the munchies, this is so helpful. it’s also just helpful from the surgery i think, that i stop right when i’m full instead of continuing to eat like i would pre-op. as for tolerance, mine hasn’t really changed. (got the sleeve) i haven’t tried edibles again yet, since i’m only 1 month post op, but i’ve smoked basically every method minus blunts and been fine. also!! i’ve been using CBD salve on my incisions and they are fading so nicely! it also helped with the pain for the first week or so, i def had to take LESS tylenol cause i was using the salve -
okay so update: i called my surgeons office and spoke with the head nurse (who talked to my surgeon) and they said they “don’t override PCP but they’re fine with my taking it”. so they kind of left it up to me and i’m going to continue taking it. i’m active enough right now that i’m not worried about blood clots, and my surgeon says it’s okay so that’s really my number one. i think it’s just because different programs have different standards. as far as methods go, i think i’m going to stick with the pill. i’ve never had a problem remembering to take it, and i’ve been on it since i was 14 (for PCOS that young) and i’m 22 now. there’s so many scary stories out there about IUDs, so it’s hard to consider. I think if i were to do anything else it would be the nuvaring, but as far as my PCP is concerned, the ring and the pill put me at equal risk for clots. so long story short, i’m going to stick with the pill.

i’m not sure about the info for being on the shot, but as far as how long to wait, my surgical team told me whenever i felt ready (as in the day i went home was fine if i wanted to). but obviously nothing crazy lol
-
i got the sleeve so there shouldn’t be an absorption issue but i def don’t want to be pregnant so i’m just going to ask around about what’s best
-
i am open to other methods, IUDs freak me out just from hearing stories but I know my mom has one and does well with it so i’m sure i would too. maybe it’s the best option?

i can finish a protein shake in maybe 3 hours? but i try to just sip on it to get my protein intake up. liquids have been easy for me. i also haven’t seen a change in the scale for the past week. i think i hit that “3 week stall” people mention -
my surgeon told me right away was fine as long as i felt fine

i haven’t but i’m going to look it up now! i’m allowed to have a bit of cheese. i’m going to call tomorrow and ask if fish is okay, i love salmon and haddock and tuna so hopefully they say yes. and puréed chili sounds pretty good too, thanks for the ideas all! -

getting really bored of the purée diet and i have 2.5 weeks left of it... any suggestions on how to spice it up? i can start eating eggs on friday so i’m sure that’ll help but i’m getting so bored with yogurt, jello, applesauce etc. i love refried beans but after 3 bites i’m painfully full. -

hey guys- all day today i’ve had a hard time getting down any food. after about 3 bites i feel incredibly full, as if i over ate. has anyone else experienced this? i’m doing fine on water so i’m not terribly worried, it’s just strange -

oh yeah that def helps!! i’ve been drinking a lot of chicken broth and today i tried the premier protein water raspberry flavored and drank a whole one. it was a little too sweet for me so i diluted it with water. one bottle is 16.9 oz and i cut it with water every time so i know i reached my goal of 32oz!! -
oh totally agree! i mean honestly it was probably better that that was the one thing i was nervous about 😂
