Just curious. If you want to share... Why are you turning your sleeve Inyo a bypass?
  3. Wow! I gave not even heard of that and I am a nurse!
  4. First of all I am an ICU nurse of 30 years. I took care of patients coming right out of open heart surgery. This is where my idea came from. My surgery was yesterday. When I woke up in the recovery room I had a lot of pain so they gave me Dilaudid which is a strong narcotic. The Dilaudid eased the pain but it still hurt. It just made me sleepy. I asked the doctor if he would order Toradol IV. We give it to open heart patients who are in a lot of pain because it doesn't make you sleepy and you are able to get up and starting moving right away. (If you like the narcotic buzz, you will not like Toradol)! Anyway, I got the Toradol. It was a miracle. I have had the smoothest recovery. I forget that I just had surgery!! I wasn't going to post this because I don't want to give medical advice. But I also don't want to hold back on something that could help all of you that are about to have surgery. Just know that I am only giving you my experience. The best part is that it completely took my pain away...I mean completely!!! So I was up walking and taking deep breaths. I ate jello the first night ( last night) with no problem. I hope I didn't just jinx myself !!!! Anyway post op day one here! So far....So good! And I am loving that green jello! Why is it always green???? Kim

Walk more than every two hours.. like every hours. You have to get that pain to move! Walking is the key. It will get better.

Today is my magic day ( day 10 post op)- zero pain and energy is back! I feel terrific. I have lost 20 pounds in ten days. That feels good too.
  7. Ha! You'll get approved. You got determination.

I really want a pickle. It's not on a full liquid diet sadly.
  10. Hi Natasha I am one week post op. So far so good. It has been easy recovery ( manageable pain and no nausea). The hardest thing for me so far is the head hunger. It was a big eye opener when I wanted BBQ chips and Mac and cheese on my way home from the hospital. Of course, I physically couldn't eat those things but I was surprised at how strong those desires were. Surgery doesn't cure that. You have to. It's been a sort of grieving process. But, I just journal about it and it goes away. I had the sleeve with pre existing reflux. The sleeve makes reflux worse but my doctor told me that it was caused by excessive weight and we could manage it with medication until I lost weight. So far I am fine. So here are my answers to your questions ( just my opinion) 1. The worse possible outcome if you don't follow a healthy diet and change your eating habits is regain, and even worse, that feeling of being a complete failure. Because many of us feel like this is our last resort. 2. Sure you will as long as you do the head work! I can't emphasize enough how important that is! Take this opportunity to learn about yourself. Ask those deeper questions. I am seeing a psychiatrist which I highly recommend for cognitive behavioral therapy. 3. Only you can answer those questions about why. Remember dig deep. Surgery is only a tool but it will all be for naught if you don't look at the psychology behind your particular behavior with food. When I was first asked that question, I said, " I just love food. I love everything about it. Nothing more." Well my psychiatrist called me on that superficial response and made me look at it deeper. Needless to say, I have learned a whole lot about myself!!! Good luck to you. You got this!!!! It's worth it. But do the mental prep work. Kim
  11. They gave me the grossest tasting concoction right before I went into surgery. They said it was for post op nausea. It worked like a charm!
  12. That autocorrect incorrectly. It was supposed to say "frist".

Oh I definitely have incision pain. Your description I'd accurate. But it's only when I bend over or move. Lol. Seriously I know it will get better. Tylenol is helping. I am going to try your suggestion about the 3 oz plastic cups. I need to play a mental game with this water thing!
  15. Ditto on all of these things! Another one is not worrying when I sit in a chair if I will break it.
  16. You got this. You really do. The power is within you. Start over right now. Forget about what you did yesterday. Everytime you start to have negative self talk, stop yourself and think about something that you love about yourself. If you can't find anything that you love about yourself, find something to be grateful for. Shifting your inner voices to something positive is huge!!! Start journaling instead of eating and ask yourself the deeper questions that need to be asked. I have found that this journey for me is incredibly introspective. I am learning so much about myself. This is a necessary step. When you make a bad choice, instead of beating yourself up, trying loving yourself and just being curious. Curiosity not judgement. LOVE yourself! You are loveable!!! Please keep us informed. You gave support here. A big hug to you!! Kim

The gas is finally making its roar on post op day 6. Yay!!! God, it feels good. Lol! I am dehydrated i think. Everytime i stand up i almost pass out and i get the shakes. I am going to just sit here and sip water all day.
  21. When is your surgery? Do you have a date yet?
  22. I think i am just feeling whiny today. Lol
  23. I had sleeve in 4/3 because md told me even though the GERD would get worse for a little while, it would go away as i lose weight. He talked me out of the RNY . Well.... he was right. The GERD has definitely gotten worse.
