I think post-op this has become my new love language. I love cooking/baking for others. I am not tempted at all by it but I truly enjoy it! Much more than I ever did pre-op.

When can I start swallowing capsules?
AshMarie794 replied to April Dawn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I honestly started capsules as soon as I got home. My meds that I had to open and take did nothing but make me throw up. I went very slow with it and took one at a time obviously. But multi that was recommended by my surgeon is even larger than my capsules I take daily and I do just fine. Just depends on your pouch really. -
Any women out there suffering with low libido? What are you taking to help if anything? NEED ANSWERS.....

Just looking for any ideas to when I’ll have an appetite
AshMarie794 replied to Mrs Davis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My program and surgeon suggested I make my own protein shakes. And since day 5 I have had zero artificial protein. My program calls it a set point smoothie but its just plain greek yogurt, spinach and add a fruit of your choice. I added strawberries and blue berries. Make it runny if your early out or still on liquids. If you youtube Dr. Matthew Weiner that is where you can learn about the set point smoothies and protein shakes. -
Went and bought some stuff called Climaxa I believe. Def worked on making me more sensitive which helped.

I am trying but it is slowly getting worse. So I think not far down the road things will be changing.

Agreed!

I feel like unless you've had the surgery someone will never know that positive energized feeling you have. And in trying to explain anything only makes it worse.

Well 7 pm night before my surgery my fiancé pretty much told me to go F&&^% myself and I was selfish for doing it. And that I had to find a ride the next morning to surgery. Fast forward to now that I am loosing and feeling GREAT. He doesn't get it and is so negative and controlling. I am finally seeing changes in myself and he pulls the rug out from underneath me and I am left feeling worse than before surgery. And he is overweight and unhealthy. Doesn't care what he eats or drinks. HATES veggies. Eats out all the time. BUT yet he will go to the gym with me........ to control that situation I am sure. Just UGH at the point and very stressed out. I hope I don't put myself in an plateau due to stress.

I am due for my first round of labs soon and I am going to request that be done.

Yes I should have elaborated. I have been having issues for about a year I would say. I take Gabapentin (Neurontin) for chronic nerve pain in my leg and ankle due to injury. I can not function without it. Pain is beyond debilitating. I also had a hysterectomy very young. I was 25. So that may play a factor. Post surgery my mood is great I feel amazing I just am not in the mood...... Don't want to say I dried up like a old lady because when we are having intercourse I can eventually get wet. But its a challenge. I have found some of the prescriptions out there for this have just "dumb" side effects. Like some say they use them for sleeping pills.... I mean that totally defeats the purpose. There are some supplements out there at GNC and even the adult store that I mean I wouldn't mind trying BUT being post surgery I really need and want to watch what I put in my body.

Being sick after RNY?
AshMarie794 replied to AshMarie794's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
See I can do the yogurt and just make some smoothies and eat beans all day everyday. But CANNOT do pro-prebiotic. They reek havoc in my belly. Before and after surgery I tried them but my surgeon said NO. -
Being sick after RNY?
AshMarie794 replied to AshMarie794's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think my biggest thing is how effective they will be... And more of a woman concern is with taking antibiotics normally if you don't also eat some yogurt or do a probiotics you can also get a yeast infection. Don't want a compound issues just to get rid of a cough and get my voice back. -
First round of labs?
AshMarie794 replied to AshMarie794's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am hoping mine will be fine as well. At first I was concerned because I couldn't take my vitamins. But now that I he switched me to capsules I am doing much better. Just anxious about it because I want to know how they look. -
Pound of Cure: My personal experience
AshMarie794 replied to AshMarie794's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I must say I have not had any artificial protein in weeks. I get all my protein from natural healthy food. I have totally switched to natural organic (when I can) wholesome foods. Nothing artificial or packages or processed. The way I feel is amazing. I have not had one dumping episode and really don't see myself having one. I have been able to stay strong and frankly just want any of that junk. If you know exactly what your eating, and I mean you know what it is an how it was prepared. No processed packaged JUNK I would think you would be fine. I do even eats fruits in raw form and smoothies and do not have any issues. I LOVE spinach, frozen strawberries, frozen blueberries, shredded coconut (that I keep in the freezer) and a smidge of plain yogurt. A lot of the time I leave the yogurt out. Don't be afraid to play around just eat what your body is telling you it wants. (unless its screaming Mcdonald's LOL) -
Pound of Cure: My personal experience
AshMarie794 posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It was suggested that I start a thread on this topic seeing as I do have first hand experience. This is the founder of The Pound of Cure, Dr. Matthew Weiner. The link is to his Youtube channel. https://www.youtube.com/user/DrMatthewWeiner My story started about 4 years ago I would say when I chose to seek out BS (Bariatric Surgery). I first reached out to a different clinic in my state. But I ended up never scheduling my surgery through them. THANK GOD! Ok now fast forward to January 2018. I got on Youtube and started watching videos and doing more research. That is where I found my saving grace! LITERALLY! I reached out to his office and scheduled my consultation. From my very first phone call into the office its been nothing but a positive learning motivating life changing experience. Every person I came into contact with made an impact. They are so helpful. My first time meeting Dr. Weiner I really didn't know what to expect with only seeing him on Youtube. But I will tell you that he is the same exact person you see in the videos. It is very easy to talk to him and open up to him about questions or concerns. I had to do 6 months of a pre op diet required by my insurance, so we started right off with ways to start changing my diet and how I really look at food. He is very encouraging and prints out step by step suggestions for your entire process. His idea behind Pound of cure really helped me loose 20 lbs before my surgery. If I was struggling with areas of my diet he had many different suggestions on things I can try. You can tell he really speaks from experience. He would ask me what my trouble areas were and gave me different options to try which I wouldn't have tried before. When eating a pound of veggies a day was first put in play it was quite daunting. I enjoy veggies and I thought I ate enough of them but quickly realized that I just needed to tweak a couple things. I feel like my taste buds have changed a few different times along my journey. Even this past week I have noticed changes. For my surgery with Dr. Weiner. That took place at Oakland Regional Hospital in Southfield MI. Dr. Weiner is part owner of the hospital. EVERYONE there was great. I went home the next day and did great until about 4 days out. My taste buds changed and couldn't take in ANY protein. So he told me about his smoothies and I was able to do that for a while until I could take in more food. I also had problems with my vitamins. The taste was absolutely horrible. So he switched me to the capsules. He listened to my struggles and made one suggestion that helped drastically. He really knows and understands what bariatric patients are going through. This program has changed my mindset on food. I now eat for necessity and fuel for the day. I know everyone has different results from the surgery and their program but I do not feel hunger. I most definitely feel when I am full. I've seen posts that his program leads more towards a vegan lifestyle but not completely. I will say that is true. I had a horrible time with cheese for instance. The crack of all foods right. Well now I no longer eat cheese and if I do I use vegan cheese. He even suggested recipes to make our own. I would never have started eating beans if it wasn't for him. And my new tummy LOVES beans. Those around me don't but hey I have to eat what I can eat. I can most certainly get by with out eating animal protein and I think anyone after surgery could. I know for me I have chosen to not eat animal protein if I don't have to. I've had chicken for dinner for example and that next morning I felt completely different. I just knew right away what it was. You have to eat what makes you feel good. With his program I get by drinking ZERO artificial protein. No shakes, no powder. I cant stomach the taste. Even the unflavored is a lie. It is flavored. Greens and beans give me life I know every program is different and there are those people that strictly abide by their surgeons word and that is fine. That is clearly also what I do. I am not suggesting you do anything different unless your body is telling you that you need to change something. If something isn't working for you WHY NOT seek out alternative options. Only you know your body. Only you know how you feel and what things feel like in your new tummy. Go with your gut. No pun intended I am only speaking my experience and what I went through. If you are in the Michigan area and are looking or someone you know is looking into BS I would say for sure reach out to his office. If you've had complications from a previous BS again I would for sure reach out to his office. He also fixes previous botched surgeries or those with complications. -

1) I feel ZERO hunger. 2) Set point was ALOT easier on me that artificial protein ever was. 3) I haven't tried any green juice to be honest. -
Setting HEALTHY & REALISTIC goals
AshMarie794 posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
So now that I am going to gym 5 days a week. Getting back into normal life and not living off liquids. Learning how to eat all over again. Lately I have been torn on what exactly I want my end goal to look like. Am I choosing a weight range? Setting a target healthy BMI? Not exactly sure what I want to strive for at the moment. Each week I am striving to hit a certain number on the scale. But that is the extent of my goals at the moment. When did you figure out where you wanted to end up after all your hard work? How did you narrow down where you wanted to end up? -
Setting HEALTHY & REALISTIC goals
AshMarie794 replied to AshMarie794's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Once I started going to the gym is when I started my weekly goals. I just question myself as to where I want to end up. In my head my goal would be 150. Any thing more than that is a dream. Its just so hard to image that its possible. That lingering doubt is killing me. -
How do you know when your full?
AshMarie794 replied to Auroragirl4489's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Post op 7 wks. (RYN) When I know I am full its a few different symptoms. I start to get a pain in my chest. A not interested feeling, almost a turn off from what I was eating. And burps that keep to be stuck. I still eat pretty soft foods. I try to avoid solid or heavy foods. I don't like how they make me feel and I am ok with my diet and so is my surgeon. I don't normally throw up anymore but there are certain foods I've tried a few different times post op and I just cant eat them. -
