    Gastric sleeve surgery in Istanbul

Hi! I am an American currently living in İstanbul- I had sleeve surgery here about 8 months ago. It went very well and I could have never afforded to do it back home in the US. I can try to answer any other questions you have.

    One Week Post-Op

I'm also 1 week out- I make my protein shakes by mixing the protein powder with water in a shaker bottle, for extra flavor I add in some non-dairy milk (almond coconut etc.) I count the amount of water used to make the shake toward my daily water goal. I also find it helpful in the beginning of the day to make a schedule of what liquids I'll consume at what time to help space things out.
  3. Today is day four post op. I have had insane mood swings (also was having PMS the past few days) but this morning they took my drain out ( have someone's hand to squeeze for that awful part) and afterwards I feel like a new person. I'm finally going home today after such a long stay and I feel totally ready for that. For everyone in recovery now, know that I reached some extremely low points over the past few days but I got through it and you will too!
  4. good luck!! I'm 48 hours post op and slowly feeling better, stay strong and you're gonna be fine
  5. I haven't had any trouble sipping at all and I'm now allowed to have up to 3 sips of water or apple juice every 15 mins which is a big relief and helping me feel more like a human again lol. Walking itself feels good but the transitions getting out of bed or going back down are really tough and I still need some assistance most times. I'm 48 hours out of surgery at this point.
  6. I was finally able to sleep last night! I couldn't sleep since Sunday, the night before my surgery because of nerves and all sleep since then has been in short shifts bc of pain/discomfort but last night my surgeon injected a local anesthetic into the main incision site that was bothering me and I slept like a baby. it feels great to actually be rested.
  7. I had my surgery yesterday in Istanbul (I'm an American living in Turkey) and I think I've gotten through the worst of it recovery wise. It was more pain than i had anticipated but looking back i think my expectations were a little unrealistic. It was also my first time having any kind of surgery. My best advice is bring some audio books or podcasts if you can, that really helped distract me from the pain and put my mind at ease the first night because my eyes were too tired to read the books I brought

    Any other April 2018 Sleevers?

I'm in a very similar situation. Surgery on April 9th and also self-pay so I've had to make my own pre-surgery plan beyond my surgeons recommendation.
  9. Hi everyone I'm 25, American living in Turkey. I have my sleeve surgery date set for April 9th here in Istanbul (less than a month away!) and i definitely want to connect with people on here because my location makes finding support a little difficult.
