Favorite things you can do now that you couldn't before, or things you're looking forward to doing?
GeekSweetheart posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi all, I'm getting sleeved on 3/19 and one of the things I've been doing is compiling a list of things I'm looking forward to doing that I can't do now, to keep me motivated once I start losing. I'd love to hear the things that you're excited to do, or for those of you who are already sleeved, that you can do now! I've been over 300 since the age of 19 (I'm 40 now) so there is a lot I have never been able to do. Some examples from my list: -wearing boots -camping -going to Disneyland (we are planning this for 2019) -ice skating -flying and driving comfortably -shopping at thrift stores (you can never find good supersize clothes at thrift shops) Share some of yours! Thanks in advance! -

Yay! I love how many responses we're getting! A lot of these are so relateable--MrsGamgee I too am so excited to have cute fandom tees that actually fit me! I have cute AF clothes from eShakti, Modcloth, and Torrid, but I am very excited to be able to shop in stores. Seriously eff Lane Bryant. Hiking, cross-country skiing, just enjoying the outdoors is so big for me--I live in Colorado and I can't wait to really experience our beautiful state more. -

Scared thinking of canceling surgery
GeekSweetheart replied to Sarahrosesb's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am still pre-op but I have had four abdominal surgeries (two open and two laparascopic) and I actually woke up during one of them (they ripped out my IV when transferring to recovery bed). I am not saying this to scare you at all but to reassure you that you will be OK! Waking up was my worst nightmare but I lived through it, I've lived through four surgeries without excessive trauma and I'm now going in for a 5th. Try not to be scared, and if you can't help it, just sit with your scared thoughts a little bit and be gentle with yourself. Screw what your family says. You've made this choice for a good reason and you won't regret it, based on every single person I've talked to or heard from. YOU CAN DO IT! <3 <3 <3 -

I feel you, I went to Walker Stalker Con the year before last and I could barely hang around to enjoy it. I waited in line long enough to get Josh McDermitt's autograph, circled around the place once, and then I had to bolt. -

My surgery date is 3/19 but I just wanted to give you a virtual "hug". As a pre-op I don't have much advice! But I'm sorry you're having a hard time. -

Yeah me too! I'm always playing with my rings to gauge my weight. When they're falling off I'll put them away for a while, get a cheapie ring from Kohl's to wear in place of my wedding ring until I'm at a stable weight and know my ring size. -

Thanks everyone for the mention of a preventative laxative prior--I already have issues with that so I will definitely do a bowel prep. My pre-op appointment is tomorrow! Wish me luck that there's no hitches in the get-along! -

March 19 here! I'm super anxious right now, but mostly looking forward to all the stuff I'll be able to do when I'm smaller.
