Add a surgeon to the database
frust8 replied to Mattymatt's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I pray her hands are strong, capable and sure for we are entrusting our Mattymatt to them. May she have a peaceful night of rest March 11th, rise refreshed and give him a successful surgery. Then he will go forth into the future confidently in better health. Morning acid indigestion issues

Try green tea or a soothing herbal mixture, no peppermint per my gastroenterologist. When I was little my godmother would give me peppermint to soothe my tummy, now he says pepper is in the beginning of the word for a reason. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app -
Chance you were pretty both ways but I bet you're proud of the picture on the right. How high was your weight prior to surgery? I'm currently 323 down from 355, my dream is to be a 15-16 from the 26W I am now. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

There are multiple postings about this subject on this web site. I could Tell you what I plan to take. Chapstick, you will be as dry as Death Valley and your lips might crack. Mine probably will anyway I have a habit of chewing them or licking excessively when I feel stressed. Biotene, it's a mouth moisturizer. Phone, charger and maybe tablet. The same charger works on both of them. Jammie bottoms or fleece pants, you tend to wear their gowns on your upper half because of tubes, wires or IV. Also I don't want them breaking out into a chorus of Moon over Miami every time I go sauntering by. My Bari Bear, I need a little friend to "splint" my sore little tummy when I sneeze or cough. I'm sure I will because I have asthma, I remember when I had my gallbladder out in the bad old days when everything was open incisions, I took Chickie, one of my kid's stuffed pillow friends, I even walked around clutching him to my sore abdomen. Most people had subcostal incisions, right under their right ribcage, well not me. I have a right paramedisn, 5 inch scar starting 2 inches above my belly button and going 3 inches below. My father the year before had abdominal surgery, he had what is called an arterioveinos malformation, There weren't capillaries between the arteries and veins in a portion of his colon, kept breaking open and he was bleeding from there. Lost about 6 inches of bowel. So my surgeon wanted to make sure I hadn't inherited it so he opened me up that way and also took, out my appendix. Some comfortable slippers, although one person on here bought cheap ones and threw them away before she went home. Books, a few paperbacks I haven't read. Soap because I have sensitive skin. That's pretty much it. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

I'm on Dexilant, works better for me than omeprazole. Some people even get prescribed Carafate. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app -
Do like the late Jerry Reed did with Amos Moses in his song, turn him into Gator Bait! F**k him or better yet don't F**k him, see how he feels about that! He needs to get on Team Florida Gal and now. Don't let him run rough-shod over you like I did my late husband. Nobody loves a soggy old doormat. Mine professed his love but I don't think he respected me. Learn from a sadder and later-wise person. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

To answer your questions: 1.Yes--- you're doing the right thing, at the right time and for the right reasons.2. No--- you Will Not die on the table, operative deaths are almost nil, besides hospitals and Bariatric centers do their very best to not have that besmirch(ooh i[emoji307] that word!) their good reputation and record. 3.Nausea is a very transitory thing and not that many get it anyway. No surgeon worth his salt is going to leave you in worse shape than when you were wheeled in. Surgeons tend to be self confident, have a high opinion of their skills and compentencies, you think they'll willingly make a boo-boo? No way, Jose! 4.A higher being sending a message not to do this? No just your devil of self- doubt trying raise his ugly head. Don't let him, you're a grownup, you're bigger than him and he doesn't have your interests at heart. Tell him Shut up and Leave Me Alone, you're not my friend and I choose not to listen to You. You are going to be fine fine fine, don't let all the whimwahs get you down. Get up, don't dwell on the negatives, if you were a woman I'd tell you to go shopping, do you have any hobbies?.? Work in your workshop, go fishing, at least get up and take a walk, outdoors if possible, the fresh air will do you good. Doesn't have to be fast, just pace yourself. If al else fails walk around the apartment or house. Just stay out of the kitchen I don't want you trying slider foods out of boredom. Drink extra Fluid,it's good for you. If you piss more, you piss more. At least you're getting rid of the byproducts from your ketosis. And life will get better, you're a guy, you'll be able to see your attributes better, we girls get ours hidden by a panni unless we are young enough that our flesh smoothes out. You have the chance to once again be a stud muffin, to have girls whistle at you or at least give you a good once over glance. The blahs and pain will make way for Hey I Can Do This! Takes time, you didn't get fat in a day if you remember, but day by day --in every way-- you'll slowly and surely get better. And I for one will be waiting to hear about it. What did you tell your teen children?
frust8 replied to Deb100's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Deb tell them, "you remember how I always said life was a growing up experience and to use the tools to help you grow? Well Mom is still learning and growing herself. My doctor and I have decided it might be a good idea if I lowered my weight. A good tool for me will be weight loss surgery. I love each of you and I would like to be here and enjoy the stages as you grow further. I want to see each of you get married, I want to hold your children, my grandbabies, I don't want to be the lady they see in a picture frame. Don't be afraid, I'll still be your mom, I'll just have a smaller physical body. I'll need your help, even moms need help at times. Be happy for me, be here for me and we'll face this together as a family. You are important to me and I know you feel the same. Now give me a hug or kiss and please know everything's going to be just fine." If your kids are the great kids you know they are, cause you raised them, they will appreciate you treating them like adults , involving them and even admitting moms aren't always perfect but they are the best friend they'll ever find. The Bariatric Grandma has spoke her piece, now go hug each one of them for me. And God's richest blessings on your journey. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app -

You are gonna be one funky granny, so proud of you, you'll be able to keep up with all your grandbaby's future foibles but you'll love it and cherish it anyway . Do you know yet whether it will be a boy or girl or is it early days now? I'm jumping up and down with happy for you, doctor would say I need the exercise anyway. Hey I just replied and lost my whole post to the" cloud", some days i don't think I'll ever be electronically literate. Hokay--- here it goes again. As a future RnY with an inquiring mind where are most,of you getting your Vitamins? Doctor's office,m.o., health food store, grocery store, big box store or doubling up on what you have on hand already? As an Upper Age, I prefer that to Senior or GoldenAger, person who's on a tight Social Security budget, I want the best bang for my buck but also the most effective. What do YOUR Vitamins cost monthly? Thank you all in advance. Hw355. Cw 323 GW 175 dream weight- less than that! Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

And Kathy,is a Cancer survivor, a tough strong willed lady who's an inspiration to all of us who have met her here. If Proud Granny says it, it will be so. Now if she could coach the Syracuse Orangemen to another winning season, guess we can't have everything? Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

Yeah but you're doing therapy for the cats and yourself. You are showing the cats people are nice animals, calming them so they'll believe in us again and be ready for a new home and hopefully a forever family. Our fur babies need our love too, they ask so,little and give so much in return. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

Mandykins, there's a newer thread called Coping Mechanisms, a lot of people telling what they do when the food Monster tries to get their attention. Really enjoyed reading it and got a few ideas myself. We all or will all go through what you're going through now, you're among friends and the worldwide Bariatric family here. I love to chat, only thing bigger than my listening ear is my mouth. My mamma, may she rest in peace, used to tell me " you have 2 ears and only 1 mouth, so you should listen twice as often as you talk" didn't pay much attention to those wise words! Hey kid, you're are now on the glide path to your surgery, every little thing's gonna be alright and these liquid days will be worth it. Best of luck to you and Chambo both, you will be forever surgery twins. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

I write poetry, some of it pretty good, only minor publishing but someday I'll put it in book form, I crochet, knit, only do housework under protest, walk (when I don't hurt too bad) and write on Quota and Bariatric Pal. And I love silky or microfiber blankies, my 2 cats and my son. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

Grerchen57 may I ask how old you are? If you are 60 or above there are quite a few of us active on Bariatric Pal. Look us up and let's chat. I'm 72 haven't completed my surgery yet, will Lord Willing and the Creek don't rise, this spring. Pretty upbeat except when this tired old Buckeye gets the blues. I first started seeking WLS August 2015 so I have quite a tale to tell myself. Don't be a stranger, none of us bite, be difficult for me cause I have dentures, good for chewing food but not very sharp. Technically I'm not a Baby Boomer, I missed it by just 5 days. I am an Occupation Baby, a select group, we were born August 6 to December 31 1945, we tend to hang with the Baby Boomers, shoot most of my oldest and dearest friends are Boomers. So pull up a chair and talk with all of us. I will be a RnY but sleevers are fine in my book, as are SIPS, mini bypasses and even lap-banders, RnY just will work better for me. You're a SLOW loser! (Don't give up!) - My story and message.
frust8 replied to Lufifi's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I love your story, since I'm a bigger girl at the start, I should lose my blubber at a faster rate? Ah but I could also turn it into a turtle and be the exception. Stands to reason every tortoise needs a Granny, could be me! So I'll try to be grateful for any loss, it's called a journey not a sprint. Sprints are fast, easy and you hear about people doing them all the time. Only on here do you hear of people having their innards surgically realigned, saying goodbye to eating anything at anytime, but guess what? I feel comfortable here and want to be adopted by this wide family. Its the right time, I'm in the right place and doing it for all the right reasons. I've fought the diet wars now I can look forward to victory. Thank you for sharing your story. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app -
