    First Consultation

GerryBhoy are you going through NHS? I have heard from UK posters the waits can be unending. It's almost as bad in Canada, my Baripal Mrs Gamgee in Red Deer Alberta has been on her WLS journey over a year, Sweden also seems slow, the best places are Australia and New Zealand. About the same period as US is my Bari-bud LillyBilly from the Caribbean, i suspect she's from one of the ABC Islands, Aruba, Bonaire or Curacao, but I don't know for certain. At any rate, she will be going to Columbia, South America for her surgery. I am not certain how long it takes in South Africa or the Middle East. So the only way to do it faster is to go Private Pay, UK people go to Belgium, Estonia or somewhere else in Europe, US and Canadians go to Mexico. The best one there I'm told is BariatricPalMX and Dr Jamil Illan, hope I got the spelling right? In the US the time period is 5-6 months because of satisfying insurance stipulations. Trust you don't mind me rambling on so long. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  3. Well I've heard the difference is they do the plication with sutures and the ESG with some sort of rivets. I base this on Dr Tom Umbach from Blossom Bariatrics on You Tube. He said it is almost impossible to revise an ESG for this reason. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. Hey @ GerryBhoy, Rosie Queen of. Scots is still active on Bariatric Pal so you have a countrywoman lurking around here somewhere. Scotland Forever! I have Dunn from Dundee in my family tree and Mary Scott, my paternal great-grandmother was born in Edinburgh. I suspect that's where my red hair comes from. 5. And you have your head in just the right place. I'm the Bariatric Grandma on here, at least the oldest currently, had a rocky weight loss path that still isn't over, but I'm a tough ole hen, I'm in it to win it -late as I am to the party. I am 72, will be 73 December 26th, BMI of 47, 323 lbs of stubborn chicken fat on a 5ft8in frame, strawberry blonde hair, hazel green eyes and a cantankerous disposition at times. I believe the adage: Fool me once, shame on YOU Fool me twice shame on ME. Well I was fooled once by a Bariatric program at what I thought was a reputable hospital, screwed over my emotions, I'm enrolling in another program this week, and by all that is holy, I WILL get my RnY surgery this time. As Reba Mc Entire says I AM A SURVIVOR. My late mamma, may she rest in peace, used to say "God gave you 2 ears and 1 mouth. This is so you will listen twice as often as you talk!" Well, I didn't take it fully to heart [emoji307] I can talk for hours on most any subject. If you have any bariatric questions, just ask. If I don't have an answer somebody else on Bariatric Pal will. Welcome again, we hope you'll hang with us for a good long time. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  6. Well welcome @TXPyrpMom. We all hope you'll love us, enjoy us and hang around for a good long time. Even if you're self pay you're welcome to stay for after surgery and a good long time. Let us know your surgery date, those of us who are believers will pray for you and those who aren't, well they will still wish you well. Do your little sticks of dynamite, well you said you're a PyroMom, know that Mommy is having tummy surgery and might have an Owwee for a while? Good to hear you have everything planned, your plans are in place and you're ready to move forward. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

@336Mike my graduating class is meeting this August, I hate to admit it has been 55 years. If you're doing math to figure how this could could be, I graduated at 17 although most of my classmates were 18. I had hoped for a phenomenal weight loss before then. As slow as my road has been-- I will be grateful for what I can achieve. It be counting coup if someone would say Oh my God _____ is that really YOU? But yippy Skippy for what happens. At any rate, YOU are looking fine! PS Go,read my newest thread 48 hours to a Day of Hope, it's one of my most heartfelt postings. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
