February bypass buddies?
frust8 replied to RunningLibrarian's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
And congratulations on your weight losses, recipes and being a happy little birdie. You fly true and straight to the subject but but you always do, it with a touch of humor. You've turned out to be February's poster bird. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app -
BrandiLynn I'm in Ohio but I too suffer from allergies. In a few months I'll join you in miserable-land, right now I have been battling sinusitis so i definitely sympathize. Go blow your nose, try to put on a pretty smile and know we love you here on Bariatric Pal. And for gosh sakes get some Zyrtec or Clairitin. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

Waiting is the worst part
frust8 replied to Elizabeth 06388's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used to dream of a national, plan for US, many good things about it, but it seems like the UK and Canada have to wait SO LONG for their surgeries. Odd isn't it that Australia also has a national health plan but they seem to move full speed ahead? Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app -
If you find any bariatric type Puerto Rico recipes post them. I may be a redheaded gringa but I love the cuisine. My late hubby's friend Rico was.a good cook and he shared. Ymmmn! Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

@mei81 I knew you could do this and do it with grace. You look so doggone cute post-surgery, when my time comes I'll probably look like something at the bottom of a litter box or a half-chewed rat. Oh but I hope to put a s****y grin on my big bad face or have my thumb in the air. Cause Glory Glory I can start my new life. Oh surgery date, please come soon, I want to join Meli on the Loser's. Bench before she gives my spot to someone else. Congratulations again and again! Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

Scared thinking of canceling surgery
frust8 replied to Sarahrosesb's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No no lapband, too many people have failures and have to be sleeved later. Very few surgeon's still are doing them these days. I am a BMI,47 and I will be having a RnY. There are many people who have backed out of attempt #1. to a man they all say they wish they had done it the first-time and regret the time they wasted waiting. Do it, you know you want it. Sure you love your family, most of us do. But you are not doing it for them, you are doing it for yourself. If you don't it will be your body and your health that will suffer. Cool hard bottom line. We love you also, but listen to someone who has drug a fat painful body around for 72 long years, it ain't worth it to wait! I'm going to have surgery myself, it will be a lot easier for you and you'll bounce back quicker. You probably won't have the loose skin I'll have, my skin is also tired and worn. But I'm going forward, please join me? Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app -
Would,it help any if you could cut it with some sugar free pudding or Greek yogurt, kinda make it a mousse texture? Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

What did you do with your old clothing? AND clothing goals?
frust8 replied to melsabells's topic in The Gals' Room
2 suggestions for you. 1st check with your bariatric center or surgeon's office, in some locales they have or know of something like a Bariatric Clothes-closet that you can donate outgrown things to or switch for comparable. Like I took in 3 dresses and 4 pants size 26, I could trade for an equal amount in say 20, 22, or 24. Suggestion#2: You say, you're a music or concert junkie? Check Volunteers of America, Salvation Army or Goodwill stores for something like Def Leopard, Lynard Skinner, Rolling Stones(God I'm Showing My Age!) t shirt in an X large or even an large, hang it on your wall where you can get inspired, especially when you're on a liquid diet. If you can see it, you'll start to believe it. It can and will come true. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app -
And you also HopefulXOXOXO are not alone. You have. Carrot, Sierra Gold and I , 3 wise, ladies on your side. As you probably have seen from my posts to our mutual friend I am 72, so I am no Spring chicken. Spring chicken pfooey, if they tried to,cook me I'm so old they'd have to stew me and keep skimming the chicken fat off constantly. Some days I feel the size of a small beached whale especially naked being viewed in a 3way mirror. You got to laugh at the irony of life, otherwise you"d be crying constantly. So I bumble along, singing my song, 3 feet wide. Are you aware the bumblebee is aerodynamically impossible? His little wings are too short to hold up his fat body. Nobody told him, so he keeps flying along. I, my friends, am a flippin' Bumblebee. Hang around with us -Hopeful- for the best is yet to be! Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

Hi Tuckersmom from one of those evil Buckeyes South of you. Where in Michigan do you hail from? Now there's a Midwestern term, most everyone else says "where do you live?"or something close to that! We are Middle America, no pretensions like the Easterners, we don't say "you all" like Down South, we are common clean- living folk who care for our neighbors and neighborhoods. We tend to be loving friendly caring people. Sound like I should be a travel folder, ah but remember like the ads--- you're "Pure Michigan!" Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

Concerned about support...
frust8 replied to GayGirlLivingForHer's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
GGLFH. I am so happy I finally got to see you and part of your extended family. Give my love to Andrea, that's my daughter's name also, she is lucky to have you and I already know you feel the same about her. You make a nice couple and your nephew and niece are just adorable. Please have your surgery, you need to live for Andrea but most of all, for yourself. I'll be praying, for you, yeah i know you didn't ask me to, but I pray for everyone I meet on Bariatric Pal, so why would I leave you out? You have your struggles, well guess what? So do I, age doesn't give me a free pass. I still screw up, I've just had a few more years to do it in. Kid you are okay and b you're gonna do okay. Don't let all the demons drag you down, you've got the love of a good person there. As another LGBT poster from Singapore reminded me-- the very best thing ever to be learned--Is to love and to be loved in return. Take that to heart, Kid, you are a good and. worthwhile person. Never ever doubt that or yourself. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app -
February 2018 Success Stories
frust8 replied to kakatlady612's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ooh I'm learning so much today. I have learned that in the first week after surgery all f***s can be juicy, if you're moving gently and you hear or feel a gentle pop,it will be an internal semi-dissolving reinforcement stitch, that the surgeon put in, that if you smell your family's food it invokes a desire to bite or chew something. Although the poster wasn't very happy, could have been someone, IDK. This seems a good night to eavesdrop, doesn't it? Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app -
Ah goody, another Midwesterner, I'm in Ohio, central Ohio 14 miles from the Geographical Center. It's a small (20.000) city called Mount Vernon. I will have my surgery in Columbus, our State capital 50 miles to the SW. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

Go to another room or take a walk outside. Haven't had surgery but when people eat watermelon around me that's my response. It actually nauseates me and I have to leave before I upchuck. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

Welcome Whitney, I'm sorry to hear about your back problem. I hope everything works out well, with your surgery. Tell your mom we have several over 50 and over 60 forums on Bariatric Pal if she wants to join in. I myself am 72 and planning a RnY surgery. But I am a very good person,to talk to about any problems or questions you or she may have. You, as a teacher, are a very important person for you guide future generations. I salute you. Scenario: when you're about leave.Tammy(your discharging nurse) I'd like to introduce you to Suzanne Smith. Suzanne is in her second year of RN school and will be assisting me with my journey home. If you and Suzanne have worked that she'll be staying with you, you can mention that. Otherwise you'll make an impression that you've thought this out and are prepared if anything happens. I happen to have an adult son who lives with me and will be my 1st line support person, if I didn't have him I'd be planning something similar. Now you when you leave might be able to whip your weight in Wildcats, i, at my age, will not be able to whip my weight in feathers or fight my way out of a wet paper bag. After all, I'm 72, although age should garner more respect, we have our battles to fight with average society. Bottom line, I wish you a successful surgery and a future life of health and good fortune. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app -

I have a suggestion for you. Do you have a school of nursing in your community? Call them up and ask if they can link you with a student nurse. When I was in LPN school I would have jumped at the chance. It's a win- win situation, he or she gets a chance to practice blooming nursing/caretaking skills, you get a temporary caretaker, if they do well you write a letter of appreciation to the school, it goes on their permanent record and it could help after graduation to secure their first job. If you're an employer and you see they've had practical experience out in the community it will make you want to hire this person for your care team.
