Favorite things you can do now that you couldn't before, or things you're looking forward to doing?

I want to weigh much less than Tomkitten (my son) -not easy since at our last mutual PCP appointment he weighed only 252 to my 300+. Then people won't say "Such a nice guy, shame he has to drag his fat old mother around with him!" he might enjoy hearing them, I don't. I should say ***** them all but I always cared too much what other people would say. I always tried to be a smoother and people pleaser, now I wonder what it gained me? People don't much appreciate a wet soggy doormat, do they? Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app -

It is you know, and now you move on to become a veteran and mentor all the newbies and to me, because I still haven't made it to the Triumphful Losers Bench. Let's try this again. No diabetes, consider & I hope a good portion go away. See what happens when I get sleepy? I can't spell diabetes but I can spell antihypertensive. That happens only if you're brilliant and dyslexic! Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app -

Another small one. When I went to fill out application at OSU they wanted a list of medications, they had space for 9. Surprise I have many more than thst, luckily i,was a printout from last PCP visit they could print off of. I hope dome of those will be v deleted post surgery. Pretty awesome when you c ondider there are no great fiabetes, no antihypertendive, thete,is 1 migraine, 1 wellbutrin but a bunch and a half others. So,i hope a good portion go away. So how many months long was it for you? My son has Caresource, he has gone to seminars etc with me, went to a seminar for program #2, this wiil be at OSU-Wexner Medical Center in Columbus Ohio. He technically would qualify himself with a comorbidity of 37BMI, found out he would have to go 9 months. Thought he might follow me through bit he says Not Yet. If he's not ready I'm not going to pressure him. If he has a "come to Jesus" moment he knows the steps because he got a bariatric folder also. Good thing because I have been known to misplace things. Well I know they are here, I just forgot where I laid them down. Worst was the day I thought,i had lost my glasses and they were on the top of my headm. But I was prepared to get frantic if necessary! ,,,,,,,,if ou have any questions to ask, please feel free to, if I don't have an answer someone on Bariatric Pal will. Welcome again, please stay and be our friend! Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

And you will get the hang of it, it's a different way of thinking about food, it is fuel, not entertainment, not your only friend, it doesn't understand you but you need to understand it and bend it to your will, not the will of the food bending you. You'll learn Fast food is Not Good Food, my grandma said" A moment on the, lips, Forever on the Hips", I hated to think she was right. Fast food has no conscience, it exists to ensnare you in its seductive web. It is quick, readily accessible and we've been trained to,love it mindlessly. As an example the Happy Meal, containing a gooey little hamburger or cheeseburger, greasy French fries and a plastic toy that may or may not gouge out your little eye. Now in recent years it's reformed a little but the premise still remains, its the only little boxed meal thats "HAPPY", Mc Donalds probably has the name trademarked. And I am a sadder but wiser former participant in their little army. I still carry their shrapnel as 2 big buttocks, wide enough to show drive- in movies on . And having been there so long, as I lose weight, they are pockmarked and flabby. And their evil compatriots Long John Silver's, In and Out Burger, Carl Jr/Hardees, Checkers/Rallys, Fritches Big Boy, they all were gunning for me. I worshipped at Church's Fried chicken , I had more food spouses than a polygamist. Now it's hard to divorce them all, human nature is to keep one or two somewhere in the background, but no no no they all got to go! Sorry if I sound preachy but I hasn't been easy to rid myself of years of excess, calories that is. Sniffle sniffle. But you will win your battles just as I will. And your dietician will be a helper in steering you the right way. Listen and Learn. I'm going to the kitchen to make sure nobody snuck into the pantry. They are devious! Bye now! Hi susunorm, welcome to this forum and welcome to Bariatric Pal. We are here to help, we hope you'll like us and want to stay with us a while. If you have any questions, just ask, if I can I'll be happy to answer, if not someone else may have an insight on that subject. We are all individuals but,we each bring a perspective to the travel along the Bariatric Highway, we are co-journeyers to health, fitness and a lower weight. Aren't any of us perfect but we do give it our best shot and doggone if we don't hit the dang- blasted target most of the time. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

I am a horrid housekeeper. Family joke: if the police came in they'd find evidence of a struggle. My project for tonight--- clear off the couch. I have bariatric papers lying on one end. Thought I'd better put them in the file cabinet before they got lost or thrown out with the newspapers What are the newspapers doing there? My son and heir to my miniscule fortune put them there when he was finished reading them. Why are they still there? Because last night was trash night and he didn't want to fill up another bag. Ah- life at Chez frust8 is like a soap opera, its cluttered but its warm and it's home. Besides he assured me nothing is on the floor so I'll fall down on it, of course not,its there on the flippin couch. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

To tell or not to tell

I do too, that's why I hang out or lurk, whatever you call it, on Bariatric Pal, a lot of times when I share advice it reaffirmed the truths in my own mind. I do know better nut I am imperfect at times. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app -
Some of it,you will re establish a relationship with, if it is something basically good. You'll have a grownup relationship, a couple bites will satisfy you or you may lose your taste for it. People say even Water can taste sweet afterwards. You may want things seasoned differently or no seasoning at all. I also am presurg, now before you discount my advice, I have gastritis, in many ways I've had to go into post surgery mode. I can't eat large portions at a time, I used to engulf my food like an aomeba so it didn't get away. I have in the past ate leftovers so I didn't have to refrigerate them. Now cake sickens me, bread products sit in my tummy like a frozen hockey puck, some meats I can't keep down if I manage to swallow them. I wonder if I'll end up vegan before I'm thru? What sounds good? Vegetables especially microwaved sweet potatoes, no butter, no brown sugar, just split it open and eat. Tofu and sometimes broth. These are all things after surg people eat also. Why aren't I losing faster?, I'm not exercising except in my house, when it's warmer I'll be walking more. I have 2 knee replacements so I'll walk in smaller spurts but I will do it. And sometimes I eat dinner later than 7 pm. Well I just do not get around to doing it earlier. I am still having trouble convincing my son I don't want his large portion size, I guess he worries about me, at least I rationalize it that way. I have tried every diet up to and including starvation, don't work. I need the tool of surgery! Have I rambled on long enough? I am not immune to struggle, I just try to overcome to the best of my ability. Get some good quality rest, tomorrow is another day and you need your strength. Use a version of one of my late mamma's habits and it used to drive me bonkers. She would hold her medications in her hand and talk to them. She would say" if I take you what will you do to or for me?" So say to the food " if I eat you, what will you do to me?" if it is going to just make you fatter, make you sick to your stomach, break out in hives or give you diarrhea or constipation, just pass on by, don't stop to reach out for it! You're bigger than it, smarter than it, stop listening if it calls out to you or whispers your name. You have a new goal in life, you do not want swerve from it. Oh it will try to seduce you back into, its web, you have been a friend for years. Like a controlling boyfriend it doesn't want to break up the relationship. Divorce MickyD's,abandon KFC, and tell Church's Fried chicken you're no longer worshiping there! Buck up, Bucky Beaver, you KNOW what to do, I believe in you and given the chance you'll do the correct thing! We are here for you Every step of the way, we've been tempted and we've overcame. You can too. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

How about changing up your exercise level or do a different variety? Shake your body out of complacency and start losing again. How are you doing with fluids? Others have said it started coming down when they increased them. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

What we need is an app, you feed in at: say 300, it would show you what you would look at 250, 200 and 150 and say your goal weight of 135. I would love the royalties off of that! Has any intelligent Web Geek come up with that yet? Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app -
