Maybe that no matter how good the surgeon and surgery were, the true solution lies within yourself. Each of us has to decide to hammer the nails into our own piece of furniture that is our body. Successes at the gym are good for your spirit, but the bottom line daily is " How do you feel about you? " Are all the different facets of your new life falling into place? If not do you know what or who to consult? They say it is a Life and Lifestyle changer for a reason!

Approval Day is always exciting, you feel like all the pre-work has been vindicated, now what you have been working towards is finally going to happen. A little scary, it is a Big Step, a little sensation of It's such a short time, are my plans and myself okay? Deep Breath now, Relax back a little and take Pride in Yourself as your umbrella, that way no matter what rains down, You Are Prepared!😝👍 -
I'm 60. Anyone else over 50 doing RNY?
Frustr8 replied to Pam Peltz's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
For some of us it lasts longer than others, just may prove we all are individuals in the Sea of Weight Loss. We each have to do what is best for us and feel resolution will come someday. -
Very proud of you guys ! but I bet MY pride is minor level compared with the pride and sense of satisfaction EACH OF YOU must be feeling.

Think that is an excellent assessment. So sorry its happened so often to you.

Do you want my unopened vitamins?
Frustr8 replied to diabladepaz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If hers aren't, there will probabily see your post and tell you what kind of deal they might make. See that's why ordering a big bunch before surgery is zNOT a good idea, afterwards your tastebuds are missing something or get seriously skewed. What you ❤before you may not be able to stand and you may develop new likes. So keep your eyes peeled I'm sure there are others stuck with varieties they can't stand. -
Did you realize that Tomato soup is HIGH in sugar, especially the Campbell's and many people can't handle tomato as a flavoring right away , comes later for most of us. One of my pre-surgery meals was tomato soup, I would take a chunk of cheese, cut it into small chunks, put them inside my homemade biscuit dough, drop them into the hot t soup, put my see - lid on and cook them as dumplings. So so good, you would take a bite and there was the melted cheese inside. A memory I can't duplicate anymore.

Took Vitamin D, Vitamin A and my prenatal vitamin, so ordered by my team because it does contain iron along with a lot of other good things and minerals. Well I did have some hair thinning, hard to tell because I'm Red-geaded and we naturally have the fewest hairs per square inch. What I noticed was I lost my fringe of bangs, so yesterday I had Shelia, my cosmotological consultant, okay beautician give me an updated DA, same style I wore at 15 except I don't have the spiked out ducktail in the backm Easy-peasy to take care of, and I started on hair, nail skin vitamins at 3 months, got special permission to use gummie, those are usually 1st ingredient concentrated fruit juice or corn syrup, and that's going to feed the sugar addiction you're trying to kill. But I usually operate at a caloric deficiency, mine are fruit juice instead of corn syrup or sugar and the capsules I was using first gave me indigestion and refkux, yeah Bypassers are not supposed to reflux, but it built up gas or something and up the burning sensation came, and I had enough GERD reflux, before surgery to diagnose it myself. And if I taste even a miniscule, amount,of ice cream, cookies pies or candy, it literally. sickens me, sniched a jelly bean from the Easter basket I gave Tomkitten who is in his 30s, long past needing one. I used to,❤the spicey ones more than the funky*'junky fruit- tasting ones . So I got out a cinnamon one, chewed and swollowed. And up it came, with a vengeance, worse than the Terminator! Oops I shan't repeat that mistake!

What To Eat When The Honeymoon Wears Off - OAC
Frustr8 replied to FluffyChix's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Not mine Fluffy Chix, remember I was on TPN feeding through my PICC line, put mine on hiatus, after it was dicontinued I droppe 30 pounds in the Month of March, I am currently losing 3-5 pounds a week, should make my goal weight if I still do as well my 1st anniversary or shortly after. Good when they originally said 18 months out! But if it does slowdown at 9 months I will still be grateful for my Second Honeymoon, it brought me closer to the losses of my peers. -
May it slide down smoothly and neither get you with its spurs or try to peck your esophagus to death! Meat and me still have a very tenuous relationship, worsened by the fact my Previous Pouch does not like Greek yogurt or cottage cheese. She sort of tolerates ricotta and harder cheeses. like chedder, gouda, Monterey Jack if it's pepperless, mozzarella and occasionally Colby. Weird isn't it? I cut the cheese into postage stamp sizes , chew- chew, she probably sighs but doesn't send it back up. Lady cream of cauliflower last night, use the Green Giant broccoli, cauliflower or cauliflower medley in it, 3-4 meals of it, I take out and 1/4 cup, try to be optimistic but she usually makes me stop before the mini- bowl is empty. Last commodity box I got had multiple cans of mixed vegetables so make some sort of veggie soup, been thinking I might branch out to the almond, coconut and cashew soup based I saw at Wal-Mart, then try some seasonings for other tastes like cajun, Thai et, Spanish/Mecican, maybe even Caribbean?et cetera,

Think I will order me one in a size 15, if when it comes time to wear it, it's too big, then I have lost Too Much weight, don't see That happening. Probably as unlikely as Donald Trump getting on National TV and telling us he's sorry and where those blasted tax returns can be found .

June 2019 Surgery Siblings!

And you could also be holding Riley like he was a security blanket against it all. My surgeon found I had NASH,let's see if I can spell it right Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatisis, well that's pretty close. Means obesity has made your liver fatty, a fat liver needs more retraction, a person on BP about a year or so ago, surgeon went ahead, accidentally tore her liver and she DID NOT have a pleasant recovery. Okay I was given a choice of 2-3-4 Weeks of his liver-shrinking diet, I did the whole31 days of August, call me an over-achevier but I wanted that critter SHRUNK and it did work, I had a slender, smooth and pliable liver for him on surgery day. I got to Have a Lean Cuisine type dinner entree, just had to be 130 cal or under. And there are actually many tasty ones there. O I do believe they will get better, I am a survivor in a sea of wimps And Give It Up people, I came into this world, red-headed, kicking and screaming and I suspect I will leave the same way! In the meantime, in between time, HERE I BE! -
Weirdest things you are looking forward to after surgery
Frustr8 replied to Krestel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
And I can say the same about my son and myself, I now weigh 40 pounds less,214 to his 254, he is PEEVED.,making noises that he wants to talk to Dr Needleman about surgery for himself, our PCP puts on his post- session printout MORBID OBESITY, first time it happened He said Mommy, at year times it's THat,rest of the time I'm just plain old Mom. What is he doing to ME? Well my surgery- needful offspring ,your BMI IS 38,mine is 33.2 I am now merely Obese heading, towards overweight. Sorry Charlie the Tuna, Stsrkist do not want you either! -
RnY Bariatric Surgery With an Organ Transplant
Frustr8 replied to drawingdami's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Have him follow your better healthier diet, yeah the Transplant odds are not the Rosiest but he does have in his favor the fact that he is Male, we are genetically programmed to lose slower or not at all; after all we could be incubating the next generation, a moot point for many of us, but Mother Nature does not want thwarted. I would say his hopes are dim but consult your nearest Center of Excellence hospital that is affliated with an University teaching program, in my area it is Ohio State University. They tend to be " Cutting Edge" with all the facets, and you might be surprised what they say. It won't be easy, he will have cardiologists, pulmonologist following his case like he had hidden THE HOLY GRAIL and they want it recovered. Laprascopic surgery is a lot less strenuous than open incision type, at the very least he will have internal scarring and adhesions up the Wazoo, his transplant surgeon didn't expect any one else " Monkey- Doodling" in there, after all! But God Bless you both, he imparts almost as much knowledge to surgeon as their training and schooling did. And please update us as things happen, you've both been adopted and we worry about our Family Members, okay? -
❤CAMPBELL'S Yes soup in Butternut Squash, stays down when many others don't, I recommend it!

June 2019 Surgery Siblings!
Frustr8 replied to BulletWithButterflyWings's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
And I hope you" June Bugs" don't mind me hanging with you some, the camaraderie here is great! I will be one year on September 5th, but my recovery is weird, somethings I am not so far ahead of you "NOT-YETTERS " as you would think. I have had strictures, ulcerations of my jejunem, protein anemia, malnourishment, a week re-hospitalization,A PICC line inserted and was on TPN supplementation 12 hours a day for 3 months, dropped the extra weight after that 30 pounds in a month, and now I am losing like I should have in the begining. Now 214 down from 365+, ready to go into 18s after being a 28-30W and I am THRILLED. My future RNY sisters, don't worry that you will emulate me, I just healed weird, I am 73 years old, that might have some bearings but I am so SPECIAL it STINKS! But I remain basically upbeat, there is enough GOOD happening to outweigh the BAD. A twisted path to recovery but I shall make it and so shall each and every one of YOU! ❤you all! FRUSTR 8 -
June 2019 Surgery Siblings!
Frustr8 replied to BulletWithButterflyWings's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
NE girl 172, Wal-Mart has on their grocery side little 2 oz cups with lids, suspect it was taking things like salad dressing, musturd, ketchup to work for lunch, but I use them for 2 oz of things. Didn't cost much for 50, pitch them most of the times when I'm through, although I have rinsed and reused. Precious Pouch, likes me to drink 2 oz of fluids at a time, so they work good for that. She may be 8.5 months old but she can be a bee-och at times. Like the line from Rumpole of the Bailey, a PBS show, Precious is definitely " She who must be Obeyed" , and some foods, she has no sense of humor for. -
#21. Visited my PCP yesterday, partly check-up, partly to discuss my I felt rotten treatment by those NP at OSU last Wednesday. He agrees I have not gone "wacky woo" so don't have To go out beating bushes to find a psychologist with Bariatric experience, thought it sounded dumb to be told to go bother my County Mental Health organization, shoot I'm not any risk to anyone else, and myself if I cakeep from starving to death because I'm not much interested in eating, hard to build up desire when you know 7 out of 10 times Precious Pouch is going to Reflux Puke it right back up! I've made a listofthings she WILL accept, if I don't stray too far from That, we get along fine. Just had a cup of decaf Tetley tea, a little stevia in it, life is bitter enough to go without some sort of sweetening to it! He says my latest ❤ scan turned out wonderful well, except for my murmer which must be functional because nothing abnormal showed up. Pointed out I have lost 37 pound since LateFebruary/ Early March. Surprised but pleased with that amount, going to give me a consult with local gastroenterologist, got some minor blips I think should be checked out, if I can't get past those obstructionist 2 N.P. to get to Dr Needleman, my surgeon, or Dr Noria, his Junior Partner, who does ALL my endoscopies, I will ask Bennie Upchurch MD here in town, should be callling today with an appointment time, if they don't within the next couple hours I will call them myself. Squeaky Wheels get greased sooner than ones that stay in one place. So in a way I am making lists, one of questions to ask him, one to use when I report in to Roy, my dietician, and another to ask Valerie, the senior NP at Needleman's office, rather his right- hand woman, mucho smarter than Thing#1,and Thing#2 that I encountered last week! Drat their little warped minds! Will it do any good? IDK but what do I have to lose by doing it?
