Taste changes or food sensitivities after surgery
Frustr8 replied to shellyk018's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Especially good if they once were your "slider" foods. Enjoy eating the "Good for You " proteins and foods on this Memorial Day. -
Well I had found something I considered cute on this Memorial Day holiday. Perhaps I had better keep it to myself. I had forgot th8s thread turned hateful,

What's In Your Hospital Bag?
Frustr8 replied to d258's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My cell phone charger, right before my surgery I bought a 10 foot one at Staples, Tomkitten teased me about it but it was very valuable. Also if they tell you to bring your C-Pap do it. But learn from my error, I didn't check,to see it was complete. My model wasn't the same as their house ones. Since I was 50 miles from, home, and had no one to,bring me the part missing, I had to wear 02 the entire Post-Surgery time, because it would have been difficult to drag it up and down the hall, I was room-bound, good thing,I DID NOT have gas to expel, I think OSU must pump it back, out at surgery conclusion.👈😝👉 -

Taste changes or food sensitivities after surgery
Frustr8 replied to shellyk018's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So do dried apricots, who'd of thunk? Sure I lost a few old food friends but I gained so much more with my weight loss!💦No tears for them! -
Your Gut knows what your Mind has yet to comprehend. Got that from one of my Motivation Apps but I believe it to be true. The surgeon at my original program, there was just somethi g about him that didn't ring true for me. My final surgeon at Ohio State University, Bradley J Needleman, perfect surgeon, perfect for me and I expect my future dealings with him to continue, I now have follow-up for life, that's the way OSU sets things up.

Taste changes or food sensitivities after surgery
Frustr8 replied to shellyk018's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
And I still, after nearly 9 months, cannot eat banana, peanut butter, cottage cheese or even Greek yogurt, all of these were pre- surgery friends but my Precious Pouch, the little ruler of my life , will not accept them. Maybe someday, maybe never, the jury is still out there. And water, for me, has gone from being sweet-tasting to bitter, and I have not a clue why! -
Well welcome SuzM, there are a lot of Good people with Good stories on here, lurk if you like, but also feel free to join in on our discussions. You might think from some of the postings there are a lot of complaints, and I might seem that way myself, but I would never trade what I was before, 365+ pounds for where I am , 9 months after surgery, and about ready to leave the 200s behind. And nothing feels as good as my Fat Shell cracking and finding out who I am underneath. Still a little way to my goal, but I now believe I can make it! You're 39, well I am doing all this at 73, and I still am having success. Good luck with your own journey but if we can do anything to help, please ask, okay?

Well pretty close, I have been known in the past to start out with leftover mashed potatoes, add a little cooked onion and celery, milk, or in the old days cream, and YumYum, sometimes even cheese. Full of calories, a former guilty pleasure of mine. But I concede none of that stuff feels as good as thin feels. Down over a hundred pounds since my own surgery 9 months ago- and I didn't lose by breaking rules but following the guidance I was given.

I am Happy that your Mama is going to give you emotional support, a lot of people on here are not so lucky. Sometimes I wish my parents were alive to see my successes, I hope, even with their worries, they would have still have been proud of me. I am fortunate I do have a son who does " have my back" as I go along this journey. Mine has not been textbook perfect, but even with its bumps and strange turns, he is still proud of me and all I have accomplished. A little peeved I now weigh less than him, but now he is starting to watch his own diet closer. He has seen the changes in my body, and maybe it is rubbing off on him a little.

eating after one week of Gastric sleeve

Not a good move at all! An American saying for you " You're cruising for a bruising" means you are risking bad things like your new tummy rupturing under the strain. Honey, you are not THAT healed internally, it is NOT WORTH the risks you are taking! -
Aw Shoot, you just shot down one of my favorite things, cream of Potato soup!🍜Oh the sacrifices we go through in the name of science!

Love the rose quartz stone, one of my all-time favorites. Welcome Alice, this is a great place to meet people who are on similar journeys. And there are many still active that are veterans of VSG or Gastric bypass like me. If you have any questions as time goes by, please feel free to ask. I have learned so much from those ahead of me and love sharing information with the " Newbies" like you. And when your surgery is completed be sure to update us, we will be happy to celebrate with YOU!😝 -

Seeking Nutritional Advice 🍎

Zoodles are good, I use Green Giant riced broccoli or cauliflower in my homemade soups, really liked the cauliflower medley one. Still living a good portion on soups, make your own and you know what they contain. Probably making some variety,of vegetable soup this evening, season it gently,, should be,good for several meals. -
Wow, quite a lot,on your plate! Praying that it all will be resolved🙏soon.

you are allowed to scream, you are allowed to cry, you are even allowed to question why., But the one thing you are not allowed to do is Give Up, do,t,look behi,d you are no longer going that way. Even if your steps seem to falter, have faith in yourself, be gentle , be sure kind to yourself as you heal. Day by day you will get stronger, you will find your strength as your life starts to,balance out. And be,proud of how far you have come already. and those foundations will help you in your post-surgery life. Up i can do it , my friendc you can really do it and do it well. God Bless.

June 2019!!! Surgery Siblings!!!
Frustr8 replied to BulletWithButterflyWings's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thanks, I sure will. Found out I rather like losing weight, used to kill my home scales because they were so mean to me, never seemed to recognise my efforts and give,me credit for my attempts. Once marched out to the metal dumpster, threw it at the back wall just to hear it crunch and fall apart. Mean luttlecritter, aren't I? -
And so you may beat them at their own game, maybe only 1bariatric surgery but GETD could be considered a gastrointestinal emergency repair. And if so, that's a new one to be covered.

Hey Briswife, they asked me on my first visit if I was Bi-Polar? Worried for months until I saw that person again, turns out it was just a part of her questionaire, just like that blasted Depression one they keep giving me-- I wish they would stop. " How many times this week have you thought about killing yourself?" Will they be disappointed if I haven't? Like the old joke Person #1 So what did you do this weekend? Person#2 Why? What did you hear?

When will I start feeling full?!?
Frustr8 replied to WendyB1984's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I don't know if I still ever feel full? Sunday morning going down, had a coupon for Glucerrna, was going to expire today, !3 off is $3 off so bought me some Butter Pecan, Eat your lttle heart out Mrs Gamgee, in their onfinate stupidity it only seems to be marketed in the US. Having it over ice because I forgot to refrigerate it. Not too shabby, none are perfect, that's just the nature of the beast. Sad when you wake up,and say " It must be morning because I AM IN PAIN" most of the time I keep up with you younger chicks but in the Early AM my feathers do drag and look rumpled. Probably couldn't even bring more than a couple $ on the open market. At 6AM is my Carafate, praying it is MAKING a difference in my ulcerations. You Say I should be able to tell by lack of pain? Well it always hurts over my pouch and in the right subcostal area, always has. Just don't mention it constantly but that's the facts of my life. And as for my satisfaction levels 1. I really should eat or drink something, it's TIME 2. How much and for how long should I take this in? 3. Ought Oh, I am starting to hiccups --is it a full symptom or pre- puking? 4. Well that answered that question, and it was 4 tablespoons. Let it rest a while and then maybe some broth? And the few times I have success, food tastes wooden, not once can I say " Gee that sure tasted GOOD! And believe you me, I WOYLD LIJE to say that! Meanwhile the Sun still shines, the birds go Tweet - Tweet, and like my muses the MONKEYS once sang "Another Pleasant Valley Sunday!" Just sign me' Nearly 9 months and Whining" and no Clinic Appointment until August, maybe they feel I'm boring or they think others need them more. I believe the correct term is Benign Neglect!👈👸👉
