Maybe your weight is making your seizures worse, I know it is a stretch, but seeing diabetics can go off their meds, hypertension people can cut back on BP meds, who is to say the weight loss would not help. Maybe your neurologist can somehow work in tandem with your bariatric surgeon to ensure you the BEST OUTCOME! I am the mama to an epileptic, currently under control, but it's like sitting on the edge of a sharp knife, if you slip, you could get cut. And like every Mama, I wish it was me instead of him that had them. There have been times when in the midst, tears ran down his face, yeah probably reflexive but it tears my 💔to see it. Yes I had my surgery for ME but also so I could still be here for him. My PCP was making noises that my weight could KILL me, now I have a new lease on life, 111 pounds lost since surgery 9 months ago, a little more to Goal but I believe in me and that I can do it! You're 46, I was twice that when I had my surgery, I came through and I believe you can too, there has just got to be a way for it to happen! Your kids, your grandson , they want and need you here, but wouldn't it be nice to have a more streamlined model, one who can survive daily stress and still be the best. And Amelia, I want it for YOU!

Acne breakouts 3 and a half weeks post op
Frustr8 replied to Bypassgirl92's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just got over a zit right below my lower lip, and like you I was not prone to any form of acne. What gives? I'm 9 lousy months out- this should not be happbeing at my age! And yes , sometimes my life Does merit exclaimation punctuation.🌈😝🌈 -
I haven't been there since 1967, only less than 8 pounds to go! Exciting to be so close, thought I would NEVER write 1 in front of my weight before I died.

Considering Gastric sleeve surgery
Frustr8 replied to Shell06's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Do it Shell06 & Amelia- most of us are so glad we did- and hope you will join us! I know I am much better off than I was before mine. And there are a lot of helpful people on here. -
Well hello Shashy, I FINALLY have someone my age to talk to! So when was your Birthday? I turned 73 on December 26th, have a 9 month old RNY, her name is Precious Pouch, I fought over 3 years to gain her, she is Not Grateful, tries her best to rule my every moment, and wins most of the time! On the other hand I have lost, if scale figures are correct, 111 pounds since surgery which puts me at a BMI of 31.1, my High BMI was almost 52 a short year ago, almost to the date. So pretty doggone good for ME. It hasn't been a perfect textbook recovery, some things still to be ironed out, but I will make it. We Baby Boomers are made out of strong steel, not plastic or fiberglass like the Young Ones, we last and last, and we don't easily blow away at the first blast of wind. So Hurray for the late 40s and early 50s, we were built GOOD!

I still think my goal weight is realistic as well, especially as I draw closer to Onderland, my BMI is now 31.1, that's on the cusp between Obese and Overweight, and I NEVER REALLY THOUGHT I could get that low, know I wouldn't without my Bariatric tool, I tried all kinds of diets, some I am ashamed to say I fell for, Cabbage juice, grapefruit, a caramel and hot water before eating? Oh they were legion, and every time some new medical person made one up, Frustr8 was there with her lower lip quivering and years in her eyes. My goal remains 175 and a size 15 junior. Now my Nurse Practioner Valerie, and by extension Dr Needleman , would be satisfied with anything sub-199 for ME, maybe they don't have the confidence in ME that I do. I am less than 8 pounds from Onderland, I SHALL BREAK THAT BARRIER! and then, and then, who knows where my,body and. I,shall land! Put padding out so I don't break a bone jumping of the cliff into thin air but I'm going to do it! I still think I look like a tired Basset Hound in the face, but my Son assures me I am" Pretty" to Him still. So I have lived through this May Challenge, a few scars and dents, sorry my arms wouldn't have enough strength or my legs strong enough to raise,me up from squats, but you know I was pretty intent on the Exercises I could do, so I deserve a participation plaque at least. And I did get to know and accept ME better, to realize I am still a Winner even if no one else sees or notices. After all this journey is Mine not to necessarily entertain them all. So I am looking forward to June, another Endoscopy on 12th June, same day as Tomkittens Birthday & I,promised him I will take him to China Buffet, even if I ingest Egg Drop,or Hot and Sour soup only, I will still be wishing him Health and Good Fortune in the Coming Year!!👸& 👨

Start keeping a list to keep your sanity! Like the bumper sticker KILL THEM ALL; GOD CAN SORT THEM OUT LATER! Keep muttering This Too Shall Pass! And it will! I knew I had NASH, let's see, non alcoholic Steatohepatitis, is what it really means, in lay terms a Fat Liver, so I did a Liver-shrink the entire month of August 2018, for every week you do it your liver shrinks 4%, so mine was between 12-16% smaller for my surgery. It worked, it worked, and my surgeon complimented me on my mini-liver, told me it was as smooth, small and healthy as a new-born calf, once I was certain he didn't plan to sell me for veal, I was complimented for my hard work. But you do turn into a Stormin' Norma foe awhile. Tomkitten, my son, said like the lepers in the Bible he should have been in front of me carrying a sign" DANGER-STARVING MAMA-BEWARE EVERYONE! But it worked, I lost 15 pounds, felt I had done something to be prepared, and it ended well on Surgery Day! And those are lofty goals.

Does your stomach pain go down into your groin or feel like it is diagonal? If so, Mint2bskinny is extremely correct, should have suggested that, I have hemauria, that's microscopic blood in the urine, have to keep forcing fluid to keep the Sandy sludge from firming into a Frank stone. One more flare-up,and Dr Henry, my step-urologist, my original Dr Clemens deleted Mount Vernon from his rounds, oh I could still see him if I went to St Ann's in Westerville,30 miles away. Dr C did a bladder cystoscopy, that was rather clear but Dr H says we will be marching clear up to the Kidneys. Do I look forward to THIS? Not especially, so I am trying to keep things dilute and flushing freely. And I have 3 kidneys in the first place, makes me thrilling to an urologist, sort of like a 2-headed calf in the barn. Don't see THAT every day!

Probably didn't realize you would be one that needed it. I do hope Omeprazole(Prilosec) works for you, it seems to for most people. It didn't for me but I am an "outlier", only thing that consistently does is Dexilent, the $300 PPI, luckily my Medicare PartD/Medicaid takes it down to a $3,40 co-pay, because without it my gastritis/ jejunal ulcers and structured Stoma would run ramptant.and i would be without HOPE! I joke when they do my Autopsy, they will discover my spine has been replaced by a neat row of Sucralfate tablets stacked up! I have, been taking that for 7.5 months, does it help? IDK haven't had a day without it, every 6 hours 6am, noon, 6pm, midnight--- now and forevermore! Ulcers, dull continuous Pain with brief flare-ups of agony. Watch for black emesis, that's digesti g blood, bright red means one has perforated , will I make it to an ER before I bleed to Death?, IDK but it is a Scary Larry situation to contemplate!

What was your comorbidity(s)?
Frustr8 replied to Goal_Digger's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Stardust, it works, it works! What is your BMI down to now? Dug out my older paperwork, see I NEVER seem to throw things away- BMI 52,6 at first encounter with my surgeon's Head Nurse Practitioner Valerien I think she does all his intakes, almost exactly to the day 1 year ago. Proud to boast it is now 31.1 or it was last Saturday the 25th. Do you KNoW what this means? 30 is the boundary between Obese and merely Overweight! Oh I AM NOT STOPPING- I have gone through peaks, valleys and bumps on my Weight Loss Pathway, even a couple quagmires. Come too G.D. far to ever consider regressing, and so I never shall! I no longer need a wide angle for my "selfies" just a normal gauge 📷 camera. I wish areas of my skin would tighten up, but after being stretched So Longn there is no SnapBack, loop it off or its just gonna hang there. I have on my Very First Jegging, oh I am still,a little bulgy, but IDC, I DON'T CARE, it still is a triumph for ME! Nobody realizes how envious I was of everyone else who Could wear Jeggings before. I would go to Wal-Mart, go to the appropriate department and sniffle💦a lot, because it JUST WASN'T FAIR,just because I was BIG it shouldn't mean I was invisible. I knew , like the Velveteen Rabbit, I was "real". -
Good on You Catwoman7, you're a Pain Sister of the 1st Water! Be nice if you lurched the opposite direction, that way as we walked together we would Stand Upright!!!👭

Center of balance has changed, you laid too long on a hard operating table, nerves pinched and/or frayed, arthritis, rheumatism, or nothing else hurts so you could center on this more. The guessing could go on and on. If he does say " Well you WANTED this surgery! "you have my permission to smite HIM. I know if mine said it I would zap right back with "And you had no reservations about doing it, did you?" really my Doctor Needleman is a very nice guy, I woke up in a semi-foul mood this AM. One of those days, you wake up in pain and say "What Next?" In the old days a cup of coffee would settle me right down, now I have gastritis, intestinal ulcerations and a bariatric pouch that only functions in Months with an "R", guess what? No R in May, June, July, August, going to be a Long Summer for lil' Frustr8 !

Bariatric surgery was a big mistake
Frustr8 replied to Alvinchicago's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
And at 9 months, 1/4th cup rarely, usually 2 oz yet, Precious Pouch does not stretch much, if at all! Maybe they are masochist, really, into PAIN, IDK either! -
NEWS FLASH-BREAKING NEWS FLASH' The tip of my nose DOES NOT HURT! Oh it is drippy, Grass Pollen count is HIGH in Mid-Ohio. When arthiritis has chewed your joints, sure you have less pain with less weight but they never are going to be before "Art" reared his Ugly little head. God never gives you a "Do Over" with joints, no matter where they are in the body This morning even my fingertip joints hurt, if they didn't I would know I was dead and someone forgot to tell ME. Doctor asked me :Well Frustr8, my dear, where do YOU hurt today? " My answer " Where Do I Not?" Been Steady- Dating "Art" since I was 25, getting close to 50 years ago. He is Omnipresent! Yep, big word for Big Bother!

And do YOU get any noticeable Iron at all THAT WAY? -
Gets better or you develop a degree of resignation, " Is This All There Is?". Oh it isn't always BLEAK but often for me, STORMY! And I guess that's the way the mop flops!

Bariatric surgery was a big mistake
Frustr8 replied to Alvinchicago's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Went back to Eating past RNY? Don't know how, I can't even eat with it and it's been nigh onto 9 months NOW! Oh Give Me A Break,i do not SEE👀how THAT could ever happen! -
I really kinda miss them. My Grandma Ada, Daddy's Mama, had her own " house" garden as well as the Great Big one where sh3 grew the crops like Sweet Corn, Potatoes, beans and melons. Just because I loathe Melons did not mean the family declared a moratorium on the nasty old stuff. Anyway I have no clue what "greens" were in it but she would go out, pick an healthy bowl full, make a dressing out of olive oil, Apple cider vinegar, a pinch,of sugar or honey if she had it, usually did, a little bacon or bacon fat, warm it up enough to gently wilt the greens, sometimes that was the bulk of our lunch. Might slice some hard-boiled egg on top, still had her own chickens. Remember the co-op was behind a porch-type big swing , I would swing and talk to the chickens. Yeah, I was my own woman, even as a miniFrustr8, I talked to chickens. Did it help? IDK but it didn't seem to slow down the egg production any! Funny isn't it, that I remember how good it all tasted this Fat down the line?

Just venting because this ish is HARD!!!
Frustr8 replied to Tiffany L.'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
One of the hardest things for me? EAting something, hoping it will stay down long enough to do me some good and then losing it to emesis anyway. This exercise gets old very. quick!😪 -
Wow ---thank you for sharing that; a lot of very good points made. And part of mine remains the Bari-brothers and sisters I have met here, when my resolve starts to crumple, and those of you know my past and present stories know there have been a lot of bumps and a few quagmires on my Weight Pathway, and times when I wondered WHAT NEXT? , well I start to remember the ones who have encountered similar, they made it through and so should I and I no longer feel bewildered and alone!👈👸👉
