WHATS HAPPENS NEXT
Frustr8 replied to BKNEWJOURNEY2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lucked out, one of the few if only benefits of being older than dirt (72). Main Medicare requiremen is to have a BMI greater than 40, at 47-49 depending on the table read. Ohio,Medicaid has a few more, a certain # of dietary supervision visits but I fullfilled them also. So,either plan I'm submitted under I'm ever so cool!Tests my program required Pulmonary-Psychology-Cardiology Dietary/Nutrition(for medicaid) Sleep Study/Apnea Evaluation 😛 -
Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!
Frustr8 replied to Ylime's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you have room for me as a buddy? File me in the Sadder But Wiser drawer in the file cabinet. My little buddies I have finished my course perparations not once but twice. And how can this be? I've lived it and it still bewilders me. A short summation- late summer 2015 I first sought, bariatric surgery. My then insurance United Healthcare required 6 months of dietary consult and a record keep of all foods consumed. Downloaded. My Fitness Pal and we were off to the races. Finished all requirements except the nutritional/diatetic consult. 5 months into the 6month requirement, my job terminates and Goodbye United Healthcare. Attempted to Cobra it over, would have taken $700 of the $900 I got monthly, from Social Security, So with a heaviness in my heart, that was that. What I didn't know and was never told Medicare, my secondary insurance would pick,up the bill and their requirements were much less, the office this year claimed they were only waiting for,my to provide my numbers and surgery could have be scheduled, would have had it Feb/March 2016. Went on with my life, staying plump as a Thanksgiving Turkey, early, late Autumn,i. asked my PCP for some medical, assistance to lose weight, he prescibed me Phenteramine, a weight reduction drug. Took it faithfully all of last October 2017. Cut out carbs, reduced my,portion sizes, cut out sodas, yes all the right things. Went back,of the end of the month for a checkup, instead of a c weight loss I had packed on 30 more pounds onto my body. After a heart-felt WTF he suggested I return to the Baiatric Surgeonbin Columbus I had gone to before. And I started over again. My requirements were finished the third week of January 2018. Made sure everthing was in order and submitted to surgeon's office. They told me I would hear back 5-8 business days from them. So I sat and waited, first week,of February they were in the pile to be worked, second week of February, yes they were submitted and they were waiting to hear back, third week you just be patient, everything is being re reviewed and we'll get back to you. On February 20th my surgeon along with 2 partners had themselves a little meeting, they decided not to do my surgery, I was given the excuse that my psychological evaluation was, murky. This from a woman who had shone my hand, in the presence of,my adult son, told me to my face that I had passed everything perfectly and wished well with my upcoming surgery. In. employment circles this is called being S***Canned, I call it being kicked to the curb . Same basic thing! So I bawled my eyes out a few days, got up, dusted myself off, gave myself a pep talk in the mirror and set off to find another program. There are 2 other hospitals in Columbus with Bariatric programs, booked, time at their seminars in Early,March. I made application at OSU-Wexner Medical Center on March 9th. That program called me back within a week to have a 2 hour appointment with Staff Psychologist Dr Kramer on April 25th. Surely I will be given credit for Time Served, they do that for criminals and I'm surely a nicer person than them. If there are no extra things needing done I could have surgery in May, otherwise June/July. So,i qualify for your happy band of surgery-seekers. I am 5ft8in, 323 lbs and 72 years old. Don't worry, I'm in it to win it just like the rest of you, and you'll find I am old only in age not attitude. I can be just rotten and ornery,as the rest of You!!❤ Have a good evening and a wonderful day.😛 -
High protein CHOCOLATE mug CAKE recipe YUM!
Frustr8 replied to Creekimp13's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
CreekImp I've been following Fluffy Chix too long, it inspires me to improvise. Allergic to chocolate, if I'm out of carob powder, I might improvise with some Torani, caramel or something similar. Going to transfer recipe to the Notes. section of my smartphone. Hugs. 😝👍 -

Trade you, I have been "chesty" my entire life. Every virus, bacteria and other style bug moves into my,lungs and sits up shop. Rather like that glob of phelgm in the Mucinex commercial with the Barcalounger. My childhood doctor's fav, cough syrup, was creosote based, put all kinds of flavorings in it up to and including maple syrup. Swallow the stuff down after either screaming or eluding a parent, 8 out of 10 times I'd puke. Mamma complained to doctor. Answer: as long as she"s vomiting some phlegm might come up too! Lovely man, should have kicked him in the shin when I had the chance. I smell asphalt outside my stomach lurches to this day!😗

Clothing During Rapid Weightloss Months
Frustr8 replied to Kay07's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
We just may make a deal Kay07, I am ready to sell buttock fat. I currently have enough for it to have its own Zip Code tatooed on. Might even ship to the right party, does FedX or UPS ship fatty tissue? Feel like I am in a wait until you see the surgeon stall- my body is in a state of homeostasis, that means it's perfectly happy at 323 lbs, my arthritic joints and I don't agree. Me and my,joints and every doctor want me at 175 lbs, body says. Nope, ain't gonna happen. You want to be smaller do it yourself. Hey I'm trying I'm trying! This fat is melting, slower than a snowball in Antarctica. I walk, until I tire out which isn't too long, I do DVD exercises until I'm out of breath, my ghrelin screams Hey did you have your throat cut? Send something down here, would you? and my sciatica says Where you think YOU RE going? At 72 every body system has its own voice and they all talk at once! Still it is better than being dead, the grave is a very quiet place. And now you have a small sample of my current daily life 😣👎 -
@clsummrtall and others. I just drank,my 1st Premier Protein drink. No,it is not getting ready for surgery time yet, I am frustratingly pre surg. I'm at the doctor's office, didn't have time to eat breakfast, slept in because I was up too late posting on BP. Yeah I admit it! Having laid in a small supply because I want my surgery a whole lot more than anyone wants to perform my RnY. I popped one open, a Peaches and Cream one and its not TOO bad. Very faint evaporated milk aftertaste, but not too shabby. After my future pre surg liquid diet which, since I'm in the high 40s BMI could easily be more than 2 weeks, I probably will grow to loathe, the reason I'm posting Now. I t says right on the side of the Little bottle'-like container "not for Weight reduction" , who do they think they're fooling? What other class of people beside weight reducers and maybe body builders would drink it? At $7.27 at my local Wal-Mart for a 4pack it's a whole lot more expensive than colas or even a milkshake at MickeyD's. Just thought you all deserved a good giggle today! ,,Your future meal mate Frust8. 😝

Newb looking for insight....Sorry such a long read
Frustr8 replied to J San's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@ J San one of my even better tales is the one about, the day I ran the size 10.5 knitting needle through my foot, even beats the evening RD deliberately kicked her foot through a glass storm window or when she kicked backward, she claimed reflexively, and broke,my nose. As the old comedian said once "I've got a MILLION stories" One of the even more recent ones. I was sitting outside of Wal-Mart waiting for Public Transportation bus, She was out shopping with her MIL, who she doesn't realize "has her number" also. we are about the same age and chat often, she doesn't know that either. Anywhoo she runs up to Tomkitten and I , throws her arms around each of us and gives a big hug. "Hmnn" I said "and what is This For?", literally had not seen her for, months. Oh , she announces, I've got Early Onset Dementia and I thought I'd hug you before I forgot who you were! Sometimes being around her is like being in the presence of a coral snake, attractive but keep an eye on them because they are poisonous. one thing we don't share is the Alcohol addiction it does run in Daddy's side of the family. How devout were they? My great grandpa Priest had a keg , big honking one from what I hear, out in his barn of Hard Cider. Christmas morning he and the male relatives went marching out to said barn. Drew off, what didn't freeze and took turns drinking it. It does get cold in Ohio so,imagine what proof it must have been! Only, had drank,3-5 times in the my,live. Blended drinks make me sleepy, if I'm going to be taken advantage of, I want to be awake and enjoy it. In your checkered imbibing career have you ever tasted White Lightening? Well,i have, the dreaded corn-based moonshine liquor. Shoot Daddy's side of the family had stills, not all of them but a high%. Ever heard Joan Baez song about it? I'll give you the lyrics at the end, okay? I had a jelly glassful once and it only took once! Warm going down, well they did pride themselves on the smoothness, hits the bottom of your stomach, with a thud and within 15 minutes at least for me, the migraine from Hades arrived. Sat down on the tree stump, both eyes and nose running, and tried to shake my head. Bad maneuver, only made it worse. Did I throw up? Nope wished I had, but I was too much a lady to do it in front of relatives and I didn't want to find out what it does to clothing and shoes. So I sat there an hour or 2 until my eyes stopped streaming, the world stopped spinning and I could trust my legs again. Okay the lyrics I promised. Get you a copper kettle Get you a copper coil Cover with new-made corn mash And never more you'll toil Just lay there by the juniper When the moon is high Watch them jugs a-fillin' in the pale moonlight (verse) My daddy,he made whiskey My grand'daddy did too We ain't paid no Whiskey Tax Since 1792 We just lay there by the Juniper When the moon is high Watching them jugs a'fillin' In the pale moonlight. Yeah you're welcome, I come from a long line of. Buckeye Small Business Men, don't I?😝👍 -

@Orchids and Dragons' me again. Remember Citracal and its, cousins are a Bari- babe' s buddy not TUMS or,Caltrate. TUMS and Caltrate are Calcium Carbonate, if you are post sleeve or on acid-reducing medicine like me and. Mr Dexilant, or even most post RnY we simply don't have enough HCl(hydrochloric acid) in our stomach secretions to assimilate the Calcium. Do you want to,enrich the septic tank, sew ar system or your own personal bones? Think I know which one we would choose. Your BariCalciums are usually citrate form, But if you're back to,pills you know which one to pick. Especially important with what me and ther went through.😝Hugs

Newb looking for insight....Sorry such a long read
Frustr8 replied to J San's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
JSan if you aren't full up on new friends let me offer! Do you need a Bariatric Aunt or Godmother, here I be! I am literally, old enough to be your mamma, I am 72, 5ft8in tall, 323lbs that makes me only slightly, beytrr off BMIwise. Depending on which resource, table used,it is between 47-49. At my age you tend to have a slower metabolism, your body decided it's going to be nice to you that way. Problem being it doesn't give,up weight easily, I have lost 30 lbs since last October, and now I am rather stuck there. My body is happy FAT nut I am not. I have had arthritis since 25, yes you read that right. As a child I was double-jointed, could clap the souls of my feet together. Sound like cute thing? In. the long run this joint laxity gives you an 85% chance of deveoping, early, onset athritis. And I did, all kind of cute little bodily tricks. I have had 2 knee replacements because I went bone on bone, plus assorted bony spurs. I have multiple allergies, sleep apnea, asthma, 3 different " Isis" in my spine, scoliosis, kyphosis and lordosis. Want those in layman's terms. I have a twisted spine, hunchback but not terribly bad, my,lower spine has a definite curve inward above my rump. Makes my booty, look even bigger than it is. Fracture? Top down: 1 broken nose, broken right and lower arm, wrist and right thumb, right lower leg spiral fracture, left lower leg and ankle, fracture v there called an avulsion fracture, I broke the bottom tips of my tibia and fibula right at,the point where they change from bone to joint cartilage plus small bone in,left, ankle and 7 of my 10 toes. And YOU think, you're,a WRECK? Occasional panic attacks and a healthy scoop of depression. Widowed for, almost 6,yesrs, youngest of my child my very wonderful Bryan known on Bariatric Pal as Tomkitten, my,middle child Kevin died 10 years ago at 31 almost 32, he had. undiagnosed, heart diseasr, we were told after his death from birth, but he died of a ruptured aorts, basically bled to death. internally. and,my oldest, a daughter known on here as Rotten Daughter or RaD. She lives maybe 6/10th of a,mile from me, calls as often as a solar eclipse, texts me infrequently, we share, the same middle name, she has altered the spelling on Facebook, my theory? She hopes no one will, guess we are related. There is a strong family resemblance between my late mother, myself, RD and RD's oldest daughter. In pictures mothers eyes, storm cloud gray, mine hazel green, RD,blue-gray the color my late grandmother, and RD's daughter pure blue. Otherwise our pictures lifelike think, the same, person dressed in different, era clothing. So I am the regretful, mother to the only 49 year old spoiled, brat in current history. Everyone has one of those in their family tree, I gave birth to mine. I am planning a RnY bypass, hopefully in May or June in Columbus Ohio, I do not know my surgeon, it will be Dr Noria a very pretty but extremely competent female surgeon or her partner Dr Needleman, th e chief of Bariatric surgery and her partner. I would happily accept either but I suspect it will be Dr N he's been in the business longer and usually, does the older patients. Hey I didn't mean this to be as long as War and Peace, I get a hold on a subject and I run without. If you have any questions, about surgery or anything else just ask. If I don't have an answer somebodybelse,on Bariatric Pal will. And we all, love helping people❤😝💙 -
4/17/18 is my day! Anyone else having surgery in April? How’s your Pre-op diet going?
Frustr8 replied to abarr7302's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
well we'll and a Welcome Home to you!😛 So happy to hear from you again and sad to hear you're having a few problems. It is important getting your fluids in. Have you tried the baby cup idea? Get 4 baby medicine cups , fill each, with wster, try to drink,it down by sipping every 15 minutes. That's an hour to Get it down . Do that in the,8 hours you're up and you've made your quota. Are you eating any sugar free popsicles? They count as fluid as does the skim milk, water, almond milk you are using to mix your powder into. Do you, like tea? You're. a Texas gal, probably raised on sweet tea, well no more sugat, but you might be able to use a little stevia, monkfruit or agave in it, doesn't have to be strong, justvweak green or herbal teas, some, people do,better with warm or cold liquid, better than room temprature. Do you have any mio or Crystal light in the house? That might be a possibility.Okay let me tell you,my future plans. I will make up one of those above liquids. I will put it in a bigger container. In the bottom I will put a slice of lemon or possibly lime. I like lime, myself, I have heard someone put a slice cucumber in hers, another put sprigs of mint. Whatever floats your boat. Every hour I will fill my little 2oz cups with the flavor-infused water and gently sip every 15 minutes because I am not into bland warm wster. If I have powder I may even make it half strength or use an alternate to water if I can. Maybe I'll go the week green tea route, it will depend on what works best for me. I have started,my own in-case shelf of items in case I get a favorable report and start moving forward fast. I have my first. 4 pack. of Premier Premium,Peachs and Cream premade there. I swore I wasn't going to,plan ahead but you having your surgery has inspired me, given,me renewed hope. My,local Wal-Mart just got, those new flavors in so I invested $7,27 in the project. I'll probably, add in a few more flavors, later. I can't have chocolate, and some many kinds have that as their primary or only, flavor. Can you use those clear Isopure, Protein 2 o, sugar free Gatorade or Powerade drinks? That might be a possible. Have tried instead of drinking out of a yuppie just using a teaspoon. I'm trying to help remember some of the other tricks people have used. If the protein powder is plain chocolate or vanilla, Maybe add a little flavor to that. I like strawberry-kiwi in things that might be a thought. I hope maybe some ideas you can use. Do you have any little Dixie cups? Take some of your made up and freeze it, either to slushy or hard like an ice cube. I wouldn't,be giving you all three ideas if you didn't matter. You do matter, both to your kiddos and to us here on BP. You're our bud and we've thrown to love you also. Now darlin'give yourself permission to test and heal in between your other duties. Every day you sre going to feel a little better, a little stronger and hopefully next month you'll, be able to say Hey Frust8 remember how you told me to do this? Now you try it too! Because the Little Engine That could might get derailed herself at times! I'll need help just like everyone else😝❤😝 -
Where are all the 50 something bypass patients?
Frustr8 replied to choosehope's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
keep me in your thoughts and prayers, I am also 72 as you may have gathered but I feel the Perpetual Bridesmaid in the Weight Loss Derby,i help, others get ready, calm their fears, then watch them go by on the last 500 yards to victory. Meanwhile my day for surgery eludes me.,Maybe. MAY? I will know a little more after April 25th, I do hope for good news at that time. You did it, I will too. I refuse to give up, we have at our mutual age, grit, determination and spunk. I will use all 3 as it is necessary to gain my way in and onward until I receive my victory as well. 😝 -
5 different med allergies? @toodlerue you are a woman after my own ❤. Just finishing up a course of Levaquin since,PCP decided my reaction, wasn't a true allergy. I develop. a malar flush. Didn't think that, happened anyware but a maternity hospital when you're at 6cm dilatation. My upper cheeks get so red you would think me a victim of Elder Abuse. or been left too, long in Donald Trump's artificial sunlight machine and I'm burned. Wrong month in Ohio for sunburn! But I also have 5 more strange ractions and/or allergies. And next month,i,hope to join you all in the No Blind Tube Club. Only marsupials need, apply, for they are the ones with pouches!👍😛

So glad Mother Nature and Father Time helped me bury Aunt Flo. It had been 47 years of her monthly visits and I was happy the old biddy died. Like, most relatives she had a habit of showing up at the most inconvenient time and often overstayed her welcome. Nobody came to her funeral but me because my gynecologist would not help me murder her prematurely. RIP Aunt Flo👹--far far away from me!....Amen
