Waking up after sugery
Frustr8 replied to baribetty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess after my fractured humerus repair in 2010 I woke up and asked if anyone thought to feed the Jack***. we live in a city of 19000 and have no farm animals. I woke up from my gall bladder removal giggling, still don't know why, that surgeon was definitely not that entertaining. I can hardly wait to see what I come up with after bariatric surgery. I am the type to wake up singing or something weird like that.๐๐๐ -
And this gift won't have to be returned because it's going to be just Your Size!

Orchids๐ผ and Dragons and the rest: I would be thrilled myself to be built like a๐จ fire plug, I just am tired of being the size of a large burning barrell!๐ฎ

August 2018 September 2018 Buddies-Please Check In
Frustr8 replied to Frustr8's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am OP,on this forum, I am bringing it out today to see if there are any people with this planned date. -
I am 5ft8in, was a hair under 6 feet before menopausal shrinkage, 323 down from 355 last October 2017. My own goal is 175, my ex--surgeon's idea was 134 based on my bone structure, he can take himself and his 134GW where the sun doesn't shine and lightening strikes often, he divorced me from his practice, my consummate goal is to vindicate myself and have a smooth perfect surgery and weight loss with someone else, and it will Be Happening. At 72 I will be satisfied with 198 or less. Any more will be the gravy on the biscuit, neither of which can I have again. I am strong, I am invincable, I am Silver Cougar Woman, hear me roar!

No dang it all. But I am closer than I was when last we chatted. On April 25th,i had a psychological evaluation with Dr Kramer in Columbus. This time I passed and passed well. I was given a diet suggestion sheet, I am to go to 3meal/3snack plan, eating every 2.5-3 hours during my waking hours, chart daily on My Fitness Pal and bring my phone to my trifecta appointment. May 24th with my case manager, dietician and nurse practioner, we are going to plan my future surgery etc. Since I have been through the other facility's plan not once but twice, I think things will move faster, all my consults are less than 6 months old, after all. So I'm figuring somewhere between early June to late July. Surely hope June, my class reunion is August 11th,want this done, recovering and weight dropping, before then. Also have a bad left shoulder, broke right upper arm in 2010, overused left one to compensate to the level that joint is close to bone on bone. Hurts like Hades, wakes me up out of sound sleep almost each and every day. If OSU doesn't put me on fast-track I'll have it repaired first. Told "ortho" I will wait no longer than September because by then my patience and endurance will be shot. I am going through 45 minutes twice weekly PT, I am willing to try it but I know in my โค it needs surgical repair.

Would you like to put your mom in a brown paper bag with my daughter? Since she is 49 and my older child, I tried to bring her into. the loop. Thought well this IS major surgery, maybe she would like to know. Promptly turned the coversation around to herself and her own troubles. That wasn't why I called, finally, called her by her first and middle name and said "Did you hear me? I am going to have major surgery in Columbus!" her answer "Whatever" Wished I'd called the Ohio National Guard instead, someone there might have expressed interest. I said "Whatever back at you" and hung up. Guess I wanted to be closer to my own mother, her grandmother, than she wants to be to me.๐

Wonder if it's true both nurses and doctors make the worst patients, they are educated too much to see,all the bad things, they can't relax. True story: My cousin Sally, a former NICU nurse, had a sick little boy, drug him off to his pediatrican, oh she was certain he had Reyes Syndrome, thinking with her Mom instinct instead of being objective and using her BSN, turned out Jeffie only had a simple upper respiratory infection. After Dr Stitzline calmed her" Mom worries" he teased her a little bit.๐

I'm Neuro Diverse, so never have been "normal" But looking at your fine examples, I will consider that as a final Goal. Take some time, take some work, but maybe if YOU did it so can I!๐Smiles and hugs for the future.

Holey Moley you weigh less than me now! I guess you're going to show me how the pigs eat their corn- Good old country saying, isn't it? Just means I can learn by watching your good example, doesn't it? I'm getting so old commercials and TV jingles run through my head. Today's selection Mary Tyler Moore "You're Going to Make It After All!" My BMI is still hovering around 47, usually if you are close to 50 you have to be on 4 weeks instead 2 week liquid diet to shrink your liver. But we shall see, what we shall see. Maybe what doesn't kill me only serves to strengthen me.๐

How do you get through the pre op Liquid Diet?
Frustr8 replied to Kadidy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have found a few flavors and /or textures I like. I have been implementing them in occasionally as snacks, my imagination isn't always working. For the next month I'm supposed to be on 3 meal/3 snack feeding plan, every 2.5-3 hours while awake. Feeding plan makes me sound like I'm a shark doesn't it? Shoot, you know what I mean anyway. I had been skipping, lunch a lot, this way with 6 smallish I don't overeat when I do get around to it. Told them I didn't eat that big a meal, it's like my stomach is already in training. Breakfast is usually low sugar instant oatmeal, with a splash,of 1% milk, we've gone down from,2% but haven't convinced my son that skim/fat free wasn't suggested by the DEVIL. Dinner which I admit isn't always before 7 which PCP suggested. Small helping of protein, usually fish or a chicken variety, sometimes tofu, green or occasionally yellow-orange vegetable, tossed salad with a little dressing on the side. So I've slid a shake in instead of just forgetting about it. Got 2 flavors of Premier Protein and also a soy based one. -
So Hope2018, love your pen name by the way, where in Ohio did you come from ? And where in Florida do you live? How long ago did you become a Florida Gator? Haven't been that far south for,a few years. Hey do,you suppose if some Gator regards me as potential bait, Premier and other protein shakes might gave me a bad taste? Just looking for hidden benefits to a shake diet๐

I really groove on others experiences and story. Even the badish ones. Feel like with my future surgery I can say " oh. Ms Z had that too, she made it through okay. Guess i will too" ๐ Still keeping a smile on my own face, but it does get wearisome waiting until more things move into place. Still I do see some motion.๐

Good luck with your last testing, Gosh it is getting CLOSE!๐

Iโm scared - What would you have told yourself one week before surgery?
Frustr8 replied to baribetty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@baribetty, please don't be scared, all of us are here for you, the veterans know what you're going through, they understand. I am still presurgical but I know what I will tell myself on that, okay. Well the day you have prayed and dream of so long is finally coming. Entertain no fears for you can rely on your surgeon and c surgical team and you know they will keep you safe and secure while you are in v their care. This the right time, your reasons for this step are your own but they are the right ones. You will go to sleep softly, when you awake you will awake with a smile for you have achieved something special in your life. Now is the time to begin your transition to the future, the hard work still continues. You were given a shiny new tool, now you must learn to use it wisely. This is the hardest yet rewarding thing you have even done. Your v tomorrow's start with that first step out of bed. You know you can do this, all your yesterday's lead up to this. Today is a gift, that's why it is called the present. One step starts it all, swing your feet over the edge of the bed, slowly stand up , get your balance and start out. The future is now yours. I have this already written on the file card I will use in June or July. For my day lies ahead also, I will make it and you Baribetty will too. Hugs. Frust8 -
