Frustr8 replied to Frustr8's topic in The Gals' Room
Well folks I have gotten down to 321 ,still no surgery date, they guarantee I will have one on or before July 16th. I feel like the perpetual bridesmaid on here, now the wedding of me to my surgery is ahead in the distance. Just don't let it get stopped now!ππ£π· -

Scheduled for sleeve July 10th may back out
Frustr8 replied to Letsgetgoing2018's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Many do,have problems with GERD after a sleeve, that said , there also many that do not. Life can be a crap shoot, you just got to keep trying to throw winners. Not everybody gets sick, ask for an antinausea patch behind your ear. Most swear by it, only, downside is it gives some people blurry vision. I'd rather be in a fog and not puking, if I got the choice. Whim wahs before surgery are common, you wouldn't be human if you didn't have a few. You are going to be fine, sure some have rocky, times but most don't. I can stand the urpers, I get intimidated by," Doctor dismissed me, I dropped by home long enough to drop off my surgery bag and then went to the mall and shipped for 6 hours" honey them girls just ain't right. I will probably look like a cross between roadkill and what the dog didn't eat out of the garbage. I have fair skin, and red hair, stands to reason the surgery will give me dark circles under my eyes. And instead of going to the mall I'll leave walking gingerly holding onto my son's arm and looking like every bit of my age. I usually can pass for 55, I will look like a decomposing zombie instead. But still I will have a big Sh**Eating, grin on my face cause Glory Glory my,pretrials will be all over!πππ -
Need advice and encouragement not ripped apart

A lot on your shoulders all at once. Well we are a ways away, but talk to us anytime. We understand in a way people who haven't been through it don't. You just got to be super strong for yourself and look out for you. But a Bariatric therapist is a good idea, we all can use some help at times. Never be afraid to ask for help, life can be bewildering. -
HOLY COW! Is this Dumping?
Frustr8 replied to Little Kansas Kitty's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
No I have been blessed that way. My mama's right was two fused together but they looked like a horseshoe but she did have 2 ureters. Mine, one goes into the bladder at the normal angle the other goes slightly diagonal about cm to cm and half above it in. Oh yes i,am strange and wonderful. I am lucky my most everything else including my uterus was properly developed. There are some ladies that have a single horned uterus, many of them havetroyblegetti,g pregnant and carrying to term, they invariably only have 1 kidney so I guess we are blessed. Since I am going to,be an RnY we will see if I then become a stone former. Bet I have a better than even chance. Have to go to the urologist tomorrow. Got funny symptom, when I urinate it feels like the urethra snaps shut and I get an electric jolt up my flanks to the kidneys. First suggestion was an UTI, sure doesn't feel like any I have ever had. PCP wanted me,i Lasix to calm down the lymphedema in my left leg but it doesn't seem to speed up the frequency of urination. Kind of puzzling. -
HOLY COW! Is this Dumping?

Hi from another Triple-Renal. I k,ow there must be more than my parents and me. Mama had a horseshoe one on the right, normal on the left,Daddy 2 on the right, 1 left I am just the reverse. A story you might appreciate. In May 2015 I had a bout of acute idiopathic pancreatitis, called that because I don't drink and my gall bladder had been gone for31 years, the 2 common causes. After a cat scan. they came in and said "Umm we think you might have a tumor." Upon inquiring as to body location I was able to reassure them "That's just the top of my third kidney!" Good thing I am over 70,72 actually or there would be transplant teams who would be chasing me with butterfly nets because,i have all 3 functionally complete renal drainage systems so I could, in theory, spare a couple. I void 1 and half times as often and much but that's just normal, for,me. They are so efficent,i teater on the edge of dehydration most of the time. But c'est,le vie, thats just ME! ,π -
I like Premier Protein peaches and creme, some people thing,it tastes fakey but to me it tastes just like peach soda pop, I also like Muscle Milk Blueberry Greek yogurt flavor, lower I proein, a little high carb count but I like blueberry, caramel, premier protein, strawberry Muscle Milk and Svelte, french vanilla, it is soy based don't taste it though, cool and smooth. What I don't like is Wal-Mart Equate, yes it is supposed to be equivalent to PP but to me has that fakey evaporated milk undertaste. Others I really haven't tried that much.

And Lisalou1968 talk to,me any time you want. I'm still pre Surgery but don't let that be a stopper, I have lived a long time(72) in fact if you were born in 68 I have a daughter about your age. None of us are perfect, we have made dietary goofs , both before and after. You're lucky your body hasn't made you repent before this time, but you have to resolve to do better. I'll confess my latest one, if I don't find Something healthy to eat I starve myself, and I know I am going pay for that by my metabolism slowing and it's slow enough already. So although, most people on here advise against it, I have started adding a protein shake for, lunch. Why they warn against,it is that you get sick of them after a while. But without them I forget to stop and take anything,in for lunch. If I do get sick of them it will be on my shoulders! I'm still waiting for,my exact, date, it will be 3 years next month since I started seeking it, went through a program twice, didn't get my surgery, their fault, not really mine and now I am ready again with a better for me truthful set of people. But I guess it's has been do long I get tempted to eat anything I want cause nothing is happening very fast. But I have invested so much time and effort, I will not mess up now! Should be yet this month, I will definitely know 16th July if not sooner. Any,prayers good wishes witch doctor mutterings all gratefully accepted- I just want this wait to be over. In the meantime I'm den mother for most everyone else, it just hurts when they get their surgery and I haven't got mine. But I will,I wiil, I have to believe I will.π -

This only an educated guess, you are still very swollen inside. Let's examine two good reasons 1. While you were asleep, you had an endo -tracheal in place to help you breathe. Don't worry, every Man- Jack of us did or will have one. It goes with the territory, this is not the type you sit upright in a dental chair for! No matter how gentle a surgeon or an anesthesiologist is, and most of them have done it so often they are smooth as silk with it, there can be a little scraping going in or coming out. Its okay, it will heal, when you have your tonsils out, they give ice cream, we bariatric, patients get cheated,we have to,make do with sugar free popsicles. 2. Your stomach is also swollen, doesn't matter whether, you now have a banananrama sleeve or a kangaroo pouch, you fall heir to swelling. While, you are healing,in other ways, your poor stomach is saying WTF,did YOU do to,little ME? And it shows its displeasure by being red and swollen inside. That too will heal, and like every surgical patient, there will be pain. What pain is worse? Good question, but every one of them hurts, I have had abdominal, facial , arm and leg incisions and healed well from them all. But not a single one of them made me want to,go dance through the daffodils. You are early days yet, give yourself permission to heal. Remember: Every Day and in Every day,You are going,to,get better and better. Usually my 3 and 4 days were the worst but we all vary. A very good friend was Day#2 , anotherwas fine until day 7 when she wanted to find her surgeon and turn him into a steer. if you get,my drift. Lucky for him he went,on holiday in either the Bahamas or Barbados where Bajan Sleeve lives. But my friend had fire in her eyes and malice in her β€toward him. Darling, check it,out with your own doctor, when you see him, but I am virtually certain you will be just fine!π

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!
Frustr8 replied to Ylime's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
And which comes first the chicken or v the egg and how far apart should they be spaced? This gets my mind off of my" When Am I Going To Get a Date" blues and on to a worse problem. than my bitsy one. I would say space them at least couple weeks apart. As long as your Bariatric Surgeon and Anesthesiologist have,no,problem with your breathing problem, I say Bariatrics first, ENT πsecond.π -
@Peggilyn72,if you are reading this, happy surgery on the 10th and may you heal swiftly and smoothly. I shouldn't be too far behind you with my RnY, she you soon in PostSurgeryLand!π©ππ©

LovelyJones whim wahs are very normal at this stage of the game, this is a life changing life altering thing we are going through! We will never be quite the same, now in my case that is pretty fine, I don't like having all the things this surgery is going to repair or at least lessen. This for me is a new chance where I felt there was no hope, a chance to,lose and live better than the sad obese existance I have now. If I cannot truly hop and dance,in the sunlight I at,least can March in place with a smile on my face. And if I can someday be an example and mentor for somebody newer to the process, that would be WONDERFUL Not many attempt it at 72,but I can ,i will and I shall win at this challenge. Join me, the best is yet tobe!π©ππ©

Scheduled for sleeve July 10th may back out
Frustr8 replied to Letsgetgoing2018's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Please don't back out, whim wahs towards the end are very common things. I'm still going forward and I believe you should too. Yes you have some nasty co- morbidities but they won't cure themselves if you skip surgery . I just commented about my PCP being less than gungho at the last time is saw him, you can read about it in Don't Become a Walking Advertisement, posted it there because there was space. But the quality of my life will be so much better and I firmly believe yours will be also. Afraid to step through the surgery door to after surgery-land? I have my Bari-bud Orchids and Dragons as well as many others as good examples and they say Stay The Course and I Will. Even if mine is absolutely perfect it will beat the way I have been living now. Even though it seems scaredy in spots I know I can do it. I believe you are cut from the self-serving of sturdy cloth. I will be going through it with you, if not the same moment, very soon after. Don't be Sad, Be Glad, We are given thischance, this new challenge but WE CAN DO IT! ,,your friend and surgery buddy Frustr8 from Central Ohioπ&π -
I have a little Miralax story. It is causing me grief but you will probably find it humorous. First let me state I have NO problem with Miralax. First had it prescribed when I had opiod induced constipation post my last knee replacement in February 2017. At that time it came in little packet/ pouches, cut,one open , pour into bottle of water, shake it up, drink er down, 18 hours or so later, blessed relief and a stool you can pass without making so much noise grumbling that you woke the neighbors. Well, until I intensified my dieting , cut down my portion size et all, things were tickety booming along very nicely down below. No opiod this time but hard to pass stool, so I called PCP,although Miralax is sold over the counter, it is $16-24 whereas my insurance has only A $1.25 co-pay, so which way would you go? Surprise this time instead of the nice premeasured packets I get a bottle and directions of how much,to measure out. Still sounds good? Turning bad shortly. The self-same childproof, lid is also arthritis proof. You are supposed squeeze the sides of that big mammy-jammer lid while turning. I CANNOT DO IT! Oh I tried, even wrapped a rubber band around it, which is an old arthritic trick for leverage, I AM NOT GOING TO PRECIPITATE AN HEART ATTACK TRYING! So I sat it back on the shelf, broke out the cherry tasting milk of magnesia and took a heaping tablespoon and half, the size that usually makes results. When Tomkitten wakes up I'll see if he can loosen it, if not I will take it back to the pharmacist and see if they can trade the lid for a child-friendly one, otherwise I dig out late hubby's Car-fixing Tools and see if there is a wrench that size. In the meantime in between times Mrπ©Poo and I are best buddies. And the saddest part, I am still pre-surgical, imagine how I'll be post gastrointestinal tract renovations!π¦πͺπ¦

I am having a little problem, I didn't drink coffee for the caffeine, or the taste really. It was for the warmth. When I got allergic to chocolate, I lost out on hot cocoa both regular and sugar-free. So I started with coffee, albeit,half-caff. When I lived closer to a health food store I transferred my love to "carob cocoa " made it with low-fat milk but sweetened with honey. Wonder if stevia would work? Does it hold its sweetness in hot drinks? Somebody told me Kroger stocks Carob powder, haven't been there in a year or so just been to Wally World and they DON T stock it and not keen on getting it in, doesn't fit their precious "mod", setup. You,would think they would have some discretionary footage. Maybe herbal tea?ππͺπ

I am having an unhappy mind blip. My PCP, as he was leaving exam room, it was Tomkitten's appointment, not mine. He looked over his shoulder at me and said You Will Be The Oldest Person I. Have Ever Known Seeking WLS At 72 and shook his head in a negative manner. Now it is getting close to my surgery time and maybe I'm over-sensative, but I felt he was telling me I am a silly foolish old woman for doing this. Odd isn't it that I thought to this point he was totally supportive in this endeavor? Maybe he thought this was a whim I would soon discard? No Never Mind, I am still going to have it, I have spent too much time and suffered too much grief on its behaft to stop suddenly now. As my mantra goes Right Time Right Surgery For The Right Results Done by the Right Person At the Right Location For the Right Reason For the Right Person- ME! And H***,High Water and a PCP with faulty logic and support will not impede ME now! Onward Onward toward the Conclusion I Go!π·& ππ£
