    They changed my date

I'm sure about my decision too!! I can't wait to have the surgery and begin the journey to a new me!!
  2. APPROVED!!!! I'm so excited!! I have my physch eval tomorrow and hopefully will be scheduling my surgery then. I was really worried that I wouldn't get approved because I'm not 100 lbs over the metlife recommended weight scale. But I have a lot of comorbids. So I guess that was enough to put me in the approved category!! In my family there is a history of death from strokes, diabetes and heart disease. I'm 35 and mother of 4 kids that are under 6. I want to be there for my kids and husband. I haven't told my husband yet, because he would never go for this surgery. So I still don't know what to do about that!?!?! Guess i need to get me a weightloss tracker on my name now!!
  3. I have comorbids, back pain and joint pain. Only med I'm taking is a steroid (which I use every once in a while). I didn't have anything else documented with my PCM but I got the approval. Cobrien ~ I think the problem may lay with the surgeon you have chosen if they don't write a strong enough reason for the surgery you will get denied.

Tricare Does Not Require An Overnight Stay?

I have tricare south. My approval states Outpatient surgery. I called Tricare and they stated that if the hospital is less than 50 miles away then an overnight stay is not necessary. If more that 50 the overnight is required. Hope this helps...

What is your surgery date? Let's keep a list.

Hi flirty...we have the same date!!

    Tricare approved quickly- now what?

Yep...call the surgeon and schedule an appointment for a consultation. The surgeon will complete the paperwork for the actual surgeon. So you are on the right track just keep moving forward. Now the doctor may have steps for you to go through but call them and find out.

Tricare - Moved from 'Pending' to.....

My BMI was 39, weight 220 (at the time of referral), co-morbid: joint pain, migraines, shortness of breath, HBP, also history of HBP and diabetes in family. Good luck with your referral!! Another TriCare Approval....Whooo Hoooo

Congrats on your approval. That was a really quick turn around time too!! It really surprises me when people have slow turn-around times with Tricare. I think it is really because their doctors don't send all of the necessary paperwork or the doctor doesn't write a strong enough recommendation for the approval. But anyway...congrats!! Wish my surgery was on the 18th...have to wait until September 15th.
  16. There are many insurance companies that have a strict exclusion for WLS (mine is not one of them - thankfully). I'm insured through my hubby's military insurance. But I really thought I was going to get denied, so I thought about going through my employers insurance but when I inquired about WLS they said it was not included but they would assist in fitness club memberships (WTH!!). I just thought that was utterly insane. Regarding hair loss ~ I haven't been banded yet, but I know they say protien in the key. I have also heard about the WEN product and heard nothing but good things about it.
  17. It's sad to say but unless you get involved...things don't go as smoothly as it should!! Congrats on your approval and surgery date!!

    Lapband or Wedding?

I agree with Lulac...I would find another surgeon. Why do you have to wait a year? That is CRAZY!! Are you waiting a year because of your dream job or because of the surgeon. If it is because of your dream job...you can take sick days and do the surgery. Have the surgery on a Thursday if possible, take friday off and go back to work on Monday or Tuesday. That would only be 2 - 3 days off. Your friendship is something that you don't want to lose. Does she know about the surgery? If so, ask her and see what she thinks. But if you just don't go and she doesn't know why...that would be really crappy.
  19. Well I'm new to thisi site. I'm interested in getting the lapband done, but wondering if anyone in TEXAS has had the procedure done and Tricare insurance paid for it. I was looking at the True Results website and they say they don't take tricare. So what doctors would I be referred to? I'm 5'5 at 218 so not sure what tricare even requires for you to have the procedure. Also, I want this procedure, but my husband would be 100% against it. He is a marine/navy man who is in GREAT shape. He believes that all can be done with working out and nothing else. Well I've tried working out and nothing really happens. I lose then gain more. I have 4 beautiful children and have been pregnant for half of our marriage. But weight has really been an issue for our marriage. I want to do this because all of my kids are under 6 (5, 3, 16 months, 14 weeks). I would pretty much have to do this whole process alone and without my husbands support. So my last question would be to see if anyone has done the process alone and what do you think?

    Want Procedure...No Support

smarquezrn ~ Thanks. I think he will be supportive once he finds out more about the surgery. Glad your fiance saw the light and is now supporting you!!

    Time Off Options

Well I'm a pro at short term disability. I've used it 4 times for the birth of my kids. Many companies have a waiting period before your short term disability kicks in. Some have no waiting time but typically it ranges from 3 to 10 days. For the 3 to 10 days you have to use sick or vacation time. Once that kicks in, you should have your other paperwork already completed by your surgeon and it starts automatically. The problem I think you are going to have is that the time off has to be doctor approved. Unless you have complications from the lapband (which I hope you don't), the doctor will probably only give you a 1 to 2 week recovery period. This is something you really need to talk over with your doctor. I'm not sure how much time you are wanting to take off. So you might not be granted STD based off of the doctors release. The key thing to remember is that you need to file for FMLA (family medical leave act) this is DIFFERENT from STD but should be in the same packet of info that you get. The FMLA ensures that you have a job to come back to if you are going to use STD or if you don't have sick/vacation days to use. Hope this helps!!

    A must see video

I know you said that it doesn't have any blood and guts...but I'm too sweemish!! Just the thought of the knife on the skin is too much for me. I was never able to watch a c-section delivery because it was just too much for me...and I've had 3 c-sections!! I'm not scared of the surgery just looking at it.
  24. I only plan on telling my husband. No one else..not my parents or friends. If I could get away with having the surgery and not telling my husband...I would!! But I can't have a surgery and not tell him.
