Thank god this tread showed up. I was freaking this week. I had surgury 4/8 and lost 20 lbs in 2 weeks but the scale has not moved a bit in the past five. I have been on mushies and at most 800 cals per day. I know I am not getting enough protein probably but the weight should still drop with the calorie differential. Glad to see I am not alone in my concerns.

I guess I will jump in here with my CT homies and intorduce myself. I was banded 4/8 by Dr. Valin in New Haven. Very good experience for the most part. I am happy with everything so far. I started at my first appt with a weight of 383. After the modified fast ketosis diet and the pre-op along with a little will power I was 358 day of surgury. I weighed myself @ 344 this morning so things are good. Anyhow, I am happy to be graduating to the puree stage today... Regards

Hi All, I want to introduce myself. I was banded on 4/8/08 and am on my way. I am a bit sore although not as bad a I thought. My big problem would be the gas at this point. Comes and goes and I am currently on Pepcid, Gas X, heating pad, warm liquids and walking. I am hoping they subside in a few days. Anyhow, even before the placement this experiece has had a positive impact. My first weigh-in @ the Dr was 383 and the morning of surgury I was at 358. It feels so good to say I am down 25 pounds!!! Looking forward to great conversation in the future. Regards, Greg

I am glad things are working out well for you. I am in the same boat with being muscular and never going to be 180. I am shooting for my HS senior year weight @ 230. I was going to post about tolerating foods when the Dr allows to move to regular foods because I am still on liquids, but reading around, it seems that everyone is different. You have no issues but other people talk of soft breads and dry meat get stuck. Do you have any suggestions on how you were able to tolerate mostly all foods? Also what type of beer do you drink?

I think everyone has hit it all dead on. I never really seriously considered RNY. If it were that or nothing, I would have continued to try and lose it myself (and probably failed). I don't feel that 1:200 chances of death were good IMO.
