Congratulations! Mine is 5/23 & I'd have to say I'm excited and terrified as well. But I keep myself calm by thinking of all the things that will happen after the weight is down versus the scary parts. Good luck on your journey as well :-)

Congratulations! My surgery is 5/23. It's exciting and nerve wracking all in 1 but I'm getting more excited now. Yay May surgery buddy :-)

Thanks you guys for the encouraging comments. Yes I'm trying to look at the positives and looking forward to this new life. We will be able to do so many things and that is one thought I make myself think whenever I get nerves. Good luck to everyone and keep us posted on your success. A year from now just imagine :-)

I know I'm having weight loss surgery so it sounds weird but I'm scared I'm so heavy and I have asthma and I'm just scared. I don't know why but my thoughts are always dark ugh I'm trying to be positive and look at it in and exciting light. Ahhh any words of encouragement will be greatly appreciated. Btw my surgery is 5/23 & I am just under 500 now....I have lost 47 pounds so far and hope to keep going even before but it's hard I lost 7 pounds in 3 weeks and wanted to cry cause I wanted more. Thanks for reading my rant lol

Thank you :-) I have slip on shoes ready for the hospital lol that was 1 of my thoughts. I will figure out my sleeping too. I'm thinking my couch because I can prop up like a recliner. Thanks for the suggestions and support :-)

I had it and a bunch of other stuff lol but my surgeon did say since I had a history of reflux and never had an endoscopy done before that was his process. Good luck I'm scheduled for May 23rd surgery so maybe we will be in same month :-)

I am having the sleeve done and it is supposed to be laparoscopic and robotic. That's good to hear it wasn't too bad pain wise. My surgeon also gives pain blocks that last a few days so you move more as well.

Thank you everyone for the kind words and encouragement and for just being here to listen. It is great to have this supportive place. I do try to tell myself it is a surgery for big people and it will be ok. My surgeon has done many and some bigger than me so I should just have faith. Part of me just wants to get to May and be done and the other part is like whoa time is flying lol. I'm sure I will be on here ranting more over journey and hopefully in a few months I'll be comforting newbies as well. Thanks again for support and just listening/reading my fears as this helps me more than you will ever know :-)

Thank you! I am trying to think like that. And yes I am strong I just need to keep looking forward. There is so much I want to do and I am fairly young still in my 30's so I am ready to get it now. I just don't want to chicken out.

Wow great job. I agree as a newbie preop this is definitely inspiring to see, especially as I am on the bigger bariatric spectrum. Congratulations and thanks for sharing!

Thank you. So glad I found this site. So supportive and informative.....helps with my fears a lot. And I'm gonna have to get some of these protein shakes. My nutritionist just mentioned these too and said a lot of people love them.

Thank you for the advice. I have been doing therapy as well. I definitely became aware of my turning to food especially when stressed. It's amazing how you notice it now that you're analyzing yourself. I'm glad I hear most people do not regret it. Thanks again.

Hello, I'm new here. I've read tons of things about the sleeve surgery and I'm through the program and scheduled for May. I'm terrified which I know is typical but I'm a person who assumes worst case scenarios. I've been big my entire adult life and now in my 30's I reached over 500 pounds. I know I need this surgery and logically it will be ok but just wondering if anyone has tips or advice for me? And maybe some reassurance just hearing success stories. I'm working on losing more over the next few months I've lost 40 so far but am going to continue to help shrink my liver. Oh and I am having the robotic laparoscopic sleeve....doctor said could take 4 hours. I'm afraid to be asleep ugh but working on fear/anxiety. Thanks in advance :-)

I'm new to this but I am scheduled for May as well. I'm terrified as I too hate not knowing exactly what will happen and being out of control scares me ugh. I know I need to do this and I'm working on all the anxiety. I have done so much research and I've not found much negatives but still my brain is worse case scenarios lol of course. More than physical this is such a mental/emotional journey. Good luck to everyone :-)
