How are my March Bandsters!!
willowbas replied to Vegaswildflower's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
rhlane... Sounds like you may have first bite syndrome. I'd suggest drinking some hot tea or coffee...maybe a few bites of soup to open you up for the food. Then you should be able to eat more than a couple of bites in the beginning. You should be able to eat your portion. JMO. -

How are my March Bandsters!!
willowbas replied to Vegaswildflower's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
How is your weight loss? I have lost 44 lbs. since the a.m. of my surgery; 60 all together! :clap2: Have you had your first fill? I had my first fill on July 12; it was 1cc; seven sticks and finally the doc hit the port. :nervous Has any one noticed your shrinking? EVERYONE notices when they see me! My next-door neighbor kept me out talking to her about it for over an hour the other day! :tea: Complications or issues your having? When I don't chew chew chew or eat slowly enough or take small enough bites, I PB or slime. :frusty: I am hit and miss with exercise which makes me very disappointed in myself! I've used a zillion excuses...being on vacation, staying with my mother who is ill, etc. Stupid excuses! I recently bought 2 Richard Simmons Sweatin' to the ___________ and I must say...the 30 minutes zoom by! I just have to make myself do them! As for NSVs...I've had so many!! Wearing a size 14/16 and buying new clothes, sitting in the movie theatre with room to spare in my seat, being able to say NO and mean it, buying new rings because my old ones are too big (as in flying off my hands when I talk), seeing people who haven't seen me in a while and having them rave about how much better I look; being told that I look AT LEAST 10 years younger, feeling like I want to do something other than stay in bed all day! :target: This restrictive device has given me the freedom from the prison that held me captive for so many years: food. :sun: -
Anyone wish they would have had gastric bypass?
willowbas replied to Monica S's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I absolutely DO NOT wish I'd had gastric bypass. I would have had no surgery, still weigh 275, and just take my chances with my life. I have seen too many people have really serious complications from the surgery. Not for me! I have too much for which I want to live and do so fully! :biggrin1: -
Any suggestions for giving up soda?????
willowbas replied to Meow=^..^='s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
On the bariatriceating.com website, Susan Maria suggests a great recipe! Crystal Light Lemonade prepared; then add frozen strawberries. My family can't get enough of the stuff. Today I am making TWO pitchers because it's so popular! -
question about liquid prptien drinks
willowbas replied to hippmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm also big on the protein drinks! I wouldn't have breakfast otherwise! I'm very tight in the a.m. and can only drink! They do fill me up and satisfy me long into the day! So much so that at times I miss lunch! -
This is one of my favorite books. I have loved everything I've prepared from this book! I'm making the Carnitas of Pork this week (only I am adding the peels of three oranges for a more authentic flavor) and can't wait! The book is geared toward rny pts. but I found lots of good info and recipes! Her website is awesome too!

Kathy...this may not be the best ever BUT since I usually need the calories (actually points since I do WW to make sure I eat enough), I like to get a snack popcorn chicken at Sonic and use it to top a salad I make at home! It's a good bit of protein and crunch!

Are you dieting after banding? If so which one?
willowbas replied to stella's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I understand what you mean, Beth...but for the first time in my 50 years, I don't eat ENOUGH! LOL...I have to have some guidelines! -
I love it in the blender with a cup of ice, a bit of water, splenda, and a squirt of fresh lime juice. Whir away and sip it until your heart's content. Now...you will be UP all night in the bathroom! It's a great diuretic! So if it's a restful night you're after...skip the watermelon!:notagree

Same here. I am on WW and it helps me tremendously. This week I've been staying with my mother who is ill. I haven't eaten all my points and I haven't lost an ounce! I have even exercised a three or four times. You just have to eat ENOUGH. -
Bread, pizza, certain pastas, rice, undercooked veggies, hot dogs, certain fruits.
