  1. My doctor told me I could have coffee as long as I still get all of my water in. Coffee is a diarrhetic and they don't want you to become dehydrated.
  2. I have been completely off all diabetic medicines since my surgery and have cut my blood pressure meds in half. I will eventually stop those too. As I exercise and continue to get healthier I fell better each day. Not always easy, but worth it.

    Are you feeling better today?

    Plateau Advice needed!!!

Thanks, AshAsh1. I did this last weekend since I was on a road trip and now I'm finally losing again. I thought I was crazy. I think it restarted my metabolism.

    Low grade temp day 3

Just keep an eye on it and know notice pay attention to how the rest of you feels. I ended up with pneumonia (not due to my surgery at all).

    nauseous

i did the same thing. My doctor had me drinking chicken broth instead of protein shakes until the nausea passed. Then he switched me to a bariatric protein shake. It was easier on my system and I was able to keep it down without nausea. Check with your surgeon and see what he says.

    Cramps

I'm getting foot and ankle cramps too. My trainer now has me doing these rolling ankle stretches (turn your ankle left for several rotations and then right several rotations, do this on both ankles). We are on our feet a lot and exercising now so we need to remember our feet and ankles support us. Since I started doing this several times a day, I have not had cramping.
  8. We're here for you. I'm happy to see you are in therapy. It will help with your loss and eating. This is a scary surgery, but the risks are much lower now than they used to be. I was also terrified of not waking up. I went to far as to make sure everyone knew what to do if I did not make it. I made it through and I am so glad I did. Life is getting so much better. I continue with my therapy because I am changing physically and mentally as I become the person I am meant to be. Take care of yourself and know that these boards are here for you. Most members are extremely supportive and caring. Best wished to you on your journey.

    Post Op update

I'm at the same place. It is difficult, but then I remind myself that I physically had my stomach cut to help me. I don't want to go through this again. I am adding some of the yummy summer fruits with my protein although now I only have a few bites of watermelon because I am full. I am no longer diabetic and that really motivates me. Best of luck to you. Remember this is a journey. You can do this.
  10. You’re probably fine. I puréed vegetable soup and added unflavored protein powder. I also did the same with tomato soup. You are probably just hungry for flavor.
  11. I would suggest 3-4 weeks. You need to be the most important person in your life right after surgery. Even though you may feel great, your energy may be lower due to lack of protein. You will be sipping water constantly and learning a new way to eat. It helped not having the work demands on top of everything else.

    Feeling sick

I have switched to almond milk lattes. They don't upset my stomach. I also found if I eat more quickly I am nauseous. If I eat very slowly, I don't get sick. I make sure to take my vitamins (barimelts are my favorite) right after I eat so I'm not taking them on an empty stomach.
  14. Best of luck to you. Remember you will feel so much better in a few weeks. Just keep drinking your water and sip slowly. Chicken broth is also good and has some flavor. If you can find them, I highly recommend sugar free Big Sticks. These helped keep my hydrated when swallowing was tough. You can do this. We are all here for you.
  15. I suggest meeting with a nutritionist. You may not be eating the correct foods or portions. Also water is critical for weight loss. Talk to your surgeon and see if he can recommend someone.

    Pain

The first week was painful for me. I slept in my recliner the first few days as I thought I would rip something open. Once I made it to my bed, I had pillows everywhere supporting me. After 1 week, I stopped hurting as bad. When I walked, I carried a pillow with me. I didn't like my binder. I am now 3 months out and feeling great. I can swim, lift weights and ride my bike. Just keep following the doctors orders. It will get better.
  17. I agree with Matt Z. Try not to stress. The doctor has your best interest.

    Eating slowly

I try to remember to set my fork down between bites. It is difficult to eat slowly when my family scarfs everything down. I try and keep a conversation going because I can't talk with my mouth full.

    What should I be expecting

It’s scary joining a gym. Instead I started with a personal trainer in a private gym. I’m finally going to a public gym tonight.

    Abdominal Binders

They gave me one at the hospital, but I never eat it.
  21. I enjoy paper wrapped chicken. I can eat 3 and be full.

    Frustrated

I had the same slow weight loss. I was told my body is going through shock at about 3-4 weeks and has to reset itself.
  23. I waited until 4 weeks out and then ate scrambled eggs. If they are stuck in your throat, you may be taking too big of a bite or eating too fast. In the beginning, I kept my bites as small as an aspirin and took 30 minutes to totally chew each bite into a liquid stage and then set my fork down before the next bite. Now 2 1/2 months out I have no issues. Best of luck to you.
  24. Thank you for asking this question. I also have a numb spot on my left hip. I thought I was going crazy.
  25. I hope you have a speedy recovery. Remember we will be here to support you afterwards.
