Hi guys, I got Sleeved in Dec - whenever I eat something no matter how small. I always get a lump in my throat. I sometimes get it when I drink too. Is that normal? How long does it last? I am on week 4 and everything is going great already down 30 pounds. Does this feeling ever go away? Thanks

Jannb - Thanks - Let's keep in touch. I am really curious what is happening. A better way of desribing it is liking having to burp immediately after one little bite. Thanks. TCL

Hi, I also had mine on DEC 15th. Do you ever feel like you have a lump in your throat after you eat? I started at 262 and I am down to 220. I am pretty happy but I want to be able to enjoy a bite of food without this feeling like I am going to throw up. Any advice?

It is not a soar throat but rather a lump in my throat like I am already full but this comes after the first morsel of food and sometimes when I drink.

hi guys, I just joined from the Lapband forum which I have been folowing for two years. I have seen a few doctors and all say that I am not qualified. I am 5' 11" - 251 - 37.1BMI. Last month I read about the Sleeve and so now I am in the research phase. I am sure somewhere in this forum all the answers are here and I will find them but if anyone would be so kind as so give me their input on the following: Is my BMI too low for the Sleeve? Is the sleeve safe? How many days after surgery will I be up and about? Is it possible to lose to much weight? Will I ever be able to eat a 'normal' meal? I will have to self pay and I am thinking of going to Mexico - I work there and speak spanish but I just don't know about the quality? My wife is afraid that we wont be able to go out to eat anymore? I told her we could go dancing instead but she is worried we wont have 'fun'? I am just very nervous and I think I am really going to do since I have been gaining about 2-3 pounds a year for the last 10 years. Thanks, TCL

Hi - I was wondering if you are self pay and if so - how much it costs - I don't qualify for insurance so I am going to have to self pay. Also, any financing available? -
United Health Care and Doctor's recommendation

Hi everyone - I am seriously considering the lap band but when I talked to my doctor about it he said he did not recommend it for me. I am 248 and 5'11. I have gain 10lbs a year for the last 4 years. I have no energy. I just had a physical and my doctor said I was very health except that I need to lose weight. I have tried for 4 years to lose weight and I can't so I don't think his 1200 calorie diet is the answer. I tried it and lost 4 lbs - back up to 248 now though. I have talked to a couple of plastic surgeons and they said I have to be 250lbs and have a bmi over a certain number and have another health related problem like sleep disorter or something. I hear of alot of people going to Mexico to get it but I wont be able to do that for months and I am anxious to get started. I live in Auburn Hills, MI does anybody know a good reputable doctor up here? Also, anyone have any luck getting United Health Care to pay for it? Thank you all for the great posts - you have really given me the courage to want to do this. -

How are you doing on the pre-op liquid diet. I thought about trying that to see if I could lose weight but I can't even make it 3 days. How are you able to get through this? -

Hi I am in Rochester Hills and looking for a good self pay surgeon. I read your post - can you give me an update? What is the total cost and were you able to get finanacing? Also, I think my bmi is around 32 - did you find out the cut off number? -
Hello, I am totally new to this forum but I have read about it for 18 months now. I have been trying to lose weight and every year I gain more. I am a male 5'11" and weigh 245. When I asked my doctor about losing weight he put me on a 1800 calorie diet plan. If i could follow the plan I would be skinnier but I can't. I think I want to get the lapband but I am not quite obest yet so I will probably have to pay for it myself. I want to take action now before my health deteriorates. Is this the right thing to do?
