Sleeve incision area pain
sammi123 replied to wjgo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do they not give you pain meds to bring home? I'm so sorry. From the videos i have watched it looks so painful. Hope you feel better really soon!! -
So is it best to start vitamins before surgery? I take a multi vitamin, fish oil, calcium and B-12 now. I just had labs done and all was good. Should I be taking anything extra before hand?

This is the first i have heard of this, about teeth going bad. Now i am terrified. I take really good care of mine and the thoughts of meth mouth makes me not wanna have by pass. I will do some research of my own. I went to a seminar yesterday and the dr's never mentioned this to us. It looked like they would had seeing how they mentioned everything else.
-
So happy for you!! Congrats!!
-
Well I'm here waiting on this seminar to begin. I was super excited driving here knowing this is finally the first step to the new and much improved me! I hope I get my first appointment soon after this. I am not a patient person at all. Something else I need to work on but just so excited!!!! Bariatric Weight Loss Seminar
sammi123 replied to sammi123's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can for sure do this!!! I'm just super hyped!! I'm sure time will fly and I'll have someone wheeling me that operating room before I know it:) -
I was wondering, if my insurance or surgeon requires a sleep apnea test, do i do that at home or do i have to stay overnight at the specialist? I have United Health Thanks so much!! Hope everyone is having a great day!!
-
I also have UHC. My UHC nurse told me I had to have 6 consecutive nutritional visits but I could go back 2 prior years and use those appointments:) I am going to use my personal doctor. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using BariatricPal mobile app

I was wondering.... What kinds of questions do they ask? I spoke with my UHC Bariatric nurse for about an hour and she asked me things like, "What will be the hardest thing for you to have to change before, during and after surgery and what will you do to make sure you make the right choices?" and "What made you feel that surgery was the best choice for you?" and "Do you think you are emotionally ready for the changes that you will have to make for the rest of your life?" I would think these questions would be right there on the tip of my tongue ready to be spoken but i froze and for a moment didn't have answers. I think i kinda spooked myself. I felt like i was being prosecuted lol Does this make sense to anyone?

Thank you Jesus!!!!

YAY!!! So very happy for you!! Can't wait til I get to where you are!!
-
Awesome!! Maybe we can keep in touch seeing how we are at the beginning of this long journey and have the same insurance. Kinda share our experiences along the way!!
-
I just spoke with a nurse that UHC assigned me. She said I would have to see a NUT 6 times before I am approved for surgery but I could go back 2 years. I'm not sure I understand that. I went to a weight loss clinic a couple times and she said that would count. Does this sound right?
-
To my understanding your personal Dr can be counted as some of your 6 month visits as long as they fill out the necessary paperwork. That is what the nurse told me. Also I had went to a weight loss clinic last year and that will count as a visit also. Just have to get the paperwork filled out. It's all so confusing. Is this what they told you?

I am new here and just now starting the process. I talked to my insurance today and they assigned me one of their nurses that will be with me through out everything and give me the names of the hospitals and surgeons my insurance will cover and told me to make the appointment. Does anyone know how long it takes to actually have the surgery after then? I know i am excited and anxious but can't help it!! I want to be healthy!!

Psych appointment...

First of all I truly admire that you chose to be so forthcoming and honest. What strength that takes. I only hope i can find it:) I am so happy that you are facing your walls and preparing the journey to tear them all down and become the new you!! I know i binge eat. I think i do it mostly out of boredom and I am bored because i feel I am no longer healthy enough to get out and do the things i used to do because the weight i have gained holds me down like a ton of concrete. It is a viscous cycle but one I am ready to break! I hope you are feeling better and hope you keep in touch with me!! Would love to talk any time!! -

Hi:) Is they endoscopy they last thing you have before surgery? May I ask how bad it was for you? -
Oh now!! This sounds awful! I hear some ppl say you are sedated and others say they put you all the way under. I am sorry you feel nauseous but glad it us over for you. I have a question if you don't mind... Do they make all of your appointments for you or do you schedule them yourself? Are they scheduled close together or do they space them out? I am hoping close together. I have to go to a seminar before they allow me to do anything...one hospital allowed me to do it online and then i found out once they called my insurance they were not in my network. They dr was but hospital was not. How weird is that, but that's in two weeks and hopefully all will fly by after that. hope you feel better!!

I am hearing that the machines really help you sleep a lot better. I know a couple people that use them and say they can't sleep without them now:)
