Just starting the process??
sammi123 replied to ChynaDollMUA's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well the blood work was first, took about 5 min. They then took me across the hall to see the therapist. They said he comes to the weight loss clinic twice a month for them. That took about 15 min. Then they prepped me for the endoscopy. While i was waiting for the dr they done the EKG. The endoscopy took about half an hour then I had a short wait in recovery. We got there at 9am and was litterally done at 11:30am. No kidding. lol With my insurance I have to go to a Center of Excellence so they don't play around. -
Mine was the same as most. I filled out a questionnaire that asked like 600 questions, most the same just worded different, then seen a therapist. I was int here maybe 15 min. He asked about support and about my relationship with my spouse and my eating habits, and if i had any addictions, then i was done. Very simple.

6 days post op- still not up to par

I'm so sorry and prayers going up!! Feel better soon!! -
I just last week had my endoscopy done and they did find a hiatal hernia. From what i hear they find them in a lot of us. Not a big deal. The surgeon will fix it during my bypass. It will not interfere with me not having surgery at all. I am not sure about ulcers. I would think they would be the same but it would be best to talk to someone who has had that experience. They only thing my surgeon asked from my primary dr is that she send over my recent blood work so he didn't have to have me redo anything again if it wasn't necessary. Plus I am using her for my 6 month nutritional visits so that's that part. Other than that, they asked nothing from her:) Good luck!!!

Panniculectomy is a body contouring surgical procedure that removes hanging fat and skin, typically after massive weight loss. It may be performed as a standalone procedure or combined with a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty). From Google

I was really worried not knowing what to expect but I swear it was so easy. My throat was a tiny bit sore afterwards but after not eating nor drinking for awhile we went to lunch afterwards and I was still able to eat a good meal with no trouble at all. I was put to sleep and before i knew it was waking up with everything all done. I didn't fell anything! So no worries:)

Confessions from a non-com (as in non-compliant)

This is good to know. I learn new things here everyday !! -
I also stress about that. I really do. Each time I have to put out anything towards a dr or pay a copay I think about what I should be paying or who needs what at home. But I also know that my health is at risk and I am not only doing this for myself but for my family and that puts me at ease....some! lol

Relationship changes
sammi123 replied to Shereseed's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My boyfriend is very supportive. During my Psych eval, the dr did say that if your relationship is good before it will be fine, but if it was bad before surgery it will just get worse. He stated that even with the best of relationships your spouse will at times think about the weight you will lose and the thoughts of your cheating. Because we are all human and that's how we think. With my fella, I tell him to eat what he wants. Just because I am changing my eating habits, I don't want him to feel like he is having to miss out on the food he enjoys. I focus on myself and what I need to do and still allow him to feel like he isn't deprived. That way we are both happy:) -
Anyone have a hard time telling family about surgery?
sammi123 replied to crystal649's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have only told two of my sisters, my boyfriend, my son, his wife and one other person. Then a good friend at work told me just week she was having weight loss surgery so i told her. lol I am not gonna tell anyone else. People are judgmental. One of my sister's was very supportive, the other being no so much. It hurt my feelings and made me with i hadn't said anything. I figured this is my time and I am gonna treat it like it is:) -
Well I hope all goes well and no monkeys thrown! Waiting is not my thing at all. I pace and bite my nails! Let us know how it goes! Best of luck!!
-
I am hoping to have Bypass in July. If not hopefully by August. It all depends on my 6 month supervised diet visits!! I have completed everything but those darn things!! How far along are you?

I have UHC and like most have to have 6 visits with my Dr, a nutritionist, etc. UHC stated i was allowed to go back 2 yrs prior as long as the visits were consecutive. I went to a weight loss clinic last year and my personal Dr will sign off on the months of Dec, Jan and April cause that is when I have seen her. My question is has anyone else done it this way or do you start your 6 months at the beginning of your plans to have surgery? I just want to make sure I do it right.
