Tomorrow morning for me...nervous on the one hand but ok with it all. Pre-op Optifast for 4 weeks now so really looking forward to ANYTHING different! Although that may not be how I feel afterwords. Have to be at the hospital for 6am..ughh..why do doctors want to get up that early? Here we go..
-
I'm scheduled for Tuesday (20th) getting nervous! Shopping this weekend though other than low fat/sugar free greek yoghurt, I think I'm pretty well stocked for the first 2 weeks anyway. We go right into full liquids after leaving the hospital. Hoping for a not too rough recovery though almost all say the first few days are rough..to be expected I guess!

How long after surgery before you returned to work?
Shoelace replied to MikeIL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone is so different for sure! I'm planning on 3 weeks and if feeling well enough by the 3rd week, will look at a few hours a day..month end of course! Also in accounting so desk job but concentration will be my concern. Everyone seems to point at exhaustion..and agreed there as the calories will be so low for the first while let alone getting enough protein in to stay upright! lol! But heal..that is the most important I think. Joining you November sleeved sleevers soon! Go team! -
Yes..you must shrink the liver or they might not complete the surgery..but I'm sure you know that. I'm on straight Optifast and 4 cups of low starch veg per day..I'm hungry a lot of the time but we're so close...don't loose the momentum now! You're almost there...🙂

Keep up those laps! So excited for you to be on the other side!

Wonderful..4 days post op! How are you feeling?
-
OK, messed up on where to post yesterday! Thank you GreenTealael for catching that! I'm joining you November 2018 sleevers rather than the 2017s! November 20th for surgery date so here we go I guess. Excited and nervous at the same time. I've been on the Optifast for 1 week now, hoping for the week of November 13th but the docs on holidays that week so I guess that means one more week on the Optifast. Probably a better idea than stopping though, as I have the momentum with this stuff and still actually like it but we shall see how I feel at the 4 week mark..maybe not so content. Not loosing a huge amount on the Optifast but I had already lost quite a bit leading up to this but down 5lbs in the first week on it..so I think that's average. The lower the better though before going in for surgery..that's the plan anyway!

I guess it's official now..November 20th surgery date. Tried for the 13th but the doctor is on holidays that week..of course! But it's all good. Last of the tests and checks and measures I guess..then here we go! Joining you November sleevers!

Shoelace replied to Frustr8's topic in The Gals' Room
So many amazing results..so thrilled! I am still pre-op but my highest was 350 and I've lost 50lbs to date but so looking forward to joining the ranks of successful post-op losers soon! Surgeon visit is set for Oct 30th and surgery the week of Nov 12th..joining you all soon! -
So wonderful! And only 40 lbs to goal in 6 months..wow! I'm curious what your CPAP setting is now and what is was pre-surgery? I have a machine as well and my settings are around 12 now. Keep up the great work!

First appointment with surgeon!
Shoelace replied to shellyk018's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Exciting times ahead! I too now have a surgeon visit booked, October 30th. Just in time for Halloween! I still haven't determined which surgery but feel I will let the surgeon weigh in on that, then decide. Tentatively looking at the week of the 12th for surgery so the dietitian had me start the pre-op diet one week before seeing the surgeon so that's today! This should be interesting..just Opti Fast shakes and some bland vegetables for 3 weeks..I guess it's really starting now.... -
Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion

I agree with Megan on this one and IV fluids won't hurt anything. Might be just what you need. -

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion
Shoelace replied to Ylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
See if these will mix well enough with a blender bottle..you might want to consider investing in one of those hand held mixers..Braun? Just to get it creamy and no lumps. We tried these with plain soy milk and skim milk and they tasted pretty good. I think the main thing is getting the mix right..but the chocolate was definately the best taste wise. Good luck! -

Agreed on that note Frustr8! Once will be enough! I'm not post op yet but I know it will be one shot. You say you are doing moderately good..so what does that mean as to how you are recovering? -

First time at the gym
Shoelace replied to Khloe617's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Agreed! It will eventually sort itself out and the benefits to the heart! I go twice a week at this point and am pre-op so interesting to see when you two were able to return. Maybe switch to measurements for a while? -
I just wanted to make one quick note about the vitamins. I think we probably all should have been on some kind of vitamins long before we started this process toward bariatric surgery..GPs just don't do the in depth tests these doctors do! So agreed..start with at least taking the vitamins and then work with a professional or maybe a support group you can attend? You can get there but just keep trying to put yourself in a position to help you succeed.

The body is really an amazing thing, isnt't it. Self preservation! I agree with Sosewsue61 about the gut..having suffered for years with gut issues. Well worth reading about. I think if we focus on getting the body as healthy and inline as we can before we go into surgery, this will help to make the whole process easier to handle and allow our bodies to focus on healing after surgery and after that, re-aligning to the reduced eating.

3 Months post op with pictures :)
Shoelace replied to Neversaynever's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You look great! I see a difference in your arms, shoulders, neck, chest and even you eyes..they are opening up! So thrilling! Funny how when we look at ourselves we don't really see! But WE see you..you go girl! -
No kidding...great work! 8 months!

I had an endoscopy a few years back as well and as mentioned above, they put you out for a very short time under a light anesthetic. I remember them saying, "try not to gag as the tube goes in", as your going out..ya right! Anyway, I woke up feeling just fine and could have got up and left at that point but they do like to monitor you for a bit after. I don't remember how long but you might want to ask if they will let you go in time to make your next appointment, which sounds like is in the same hospital. Maybe they could just wheel you over!

Well anytime you feel like wandering by for a visit at least, let me know! Bring some interesting shakes from the states..bloody expensive up here!
