Hi there! My name is Chris and I am actually being banded by Dr vanek on Sept 30th! He is a good doctor and I was very comfortable with him! Everyone at the weight loss center is wonderful and I think you are making a good decision! Be prepared for a lot of work in getting ready for the surgery! Isnt it funny how a lack of food can make us "monsters"....it is a whole new journey and we have alot to learn!! I feel like I am grieving my best friend "food"......it is going to be a long hard battle, but I know in the end we are worth it! I was talking to the nurse at my last appointment and we were talking about how hard it is to get help with overeating and why we do it! If I binged and purged there are tons of places for that....but just eating to self medicate, well baically we are on our own!! OK si i guess i am one venting now...LOL How are you feeling? Hang in there you are worth this!!!! :tt1:

Shongra..... Hang in there honey!! You have come this far dont throw in the towel just yet! I know it is frustrating, but if you dont give it a fair chance I think you might later regret it! I am being banded Sept 30 and sooooo excited! I am just ready to start this new chapter in my life!! Is everyone all ready?? I was looking for a list that someone posted about everything you need to buy before surgery....anyone have it?? Thanks! Chris Good luck to you all!!!!:smile:

I am being banded Sept 30 I told them at work I was going to take off a month, but if I feel up to it I will go back sooner! I work at the post office so I do alot of lifting and bending. There are so many of you that will be back to work before I am even banded! It seems like it is never going to get here!! Good luck getting back into the swing of things at work!!! hugs! Chris

I love seeing when everyones surgery date is.....now I would like to know the person behind the surgery date! : ) My name is chris I am 34 years old, married to a great guy with 3 kids! I live in Ohio and I have my surgery scheduled for sept 30........anyone else??

I got my date today.....Sept 30! It seems like a lifetime away, but I know it will be here before I know it! It finally seems real!!! I would love any advice, wisdom, friends, mentors, ect!! My name is Chris, I am 34 and a mom of 2 girls! :crying:

Hello everyone!!! I have been reading these posts for quite some time now and I have learned soooo much!! I finally got my surgery date, Sept 30!! I am so excited!!! Anyone else getting banded in Sept??

I have been reading alot about the lapband procedure and I was wondering if anyone has had both the lapband and a c-section and how they compare in pain level and recovery time.

I have felt the same way as you and then I figured this, they know when a person is doing this for all the right reasons and I know that I am! If you are confident with your decision and you have done your research, you are going to be fine! Relax!! Let me know how it goes for you and what they ask, I am curious!! good luck!! Chris

I totally disagree with elisa too. My daughters are 9 years and 18 months old so obviously the baby doesnt have a clue, but 9 year old sure does. I think being honest is the only way to go. I dont even have my initial visit until June 4th, but we have already talked about it. I think that if it is something you can talk to them openly and honestly about it makes it easier and I think for us it will be months that she knows about it so it wont be something new and scary to her. I just told her that Mommy has tried tons of diets and nothing seems to work to make me healthy so I am going to have this procedure done to help me lose the weight! I want to stress to her that it is to make me healthy and just not to be thin. (Even though it is part of it for me) I dont want her to get obsessed with weight loss this young in life and I dont want her to have self esteem issues like always have. So hopefully if I talk to her about the health side of it she wont see it as I have to be "skinny" to feel good about myself! I am sure it this something that you have been thinking about for awhile I bet your kids know more than you think! They are smart little cookies! You know your kids better than anyone and you know in your heart what they need to know and how they will react to the situation! My advice to you is do what you think is best for them and yourself!! My situation may be completely different than yours, ya know?? So advice is good to get, but the decision is yours!! I hope this helped somewhat!! Best of luck to you and I hope it goes well for you! I have done so much soul searching about this whole journey and I have decided that I could compare the lapband to "clipnotes" from high school. To me it is just like that, you still have to do the work, but it makes the journey a little less difficult for you. I guess I am showing my age with the cliff notes LOL. I see lapband as a gate to my freedom from being fat! I am so ready to open the door to a happy, healthy life!! I dont have a date yet, but I just cant wait! I am ready to start living and quit just "existing"!!

I want my health back, I want happiness, I want to feel a sense of accomplishment.....I am one to start something but never finish it! I see the band as a tool to make my dreams come true. I know I have to do the work, but it is going to make it a little easier for me! I want to wear a sleeveless shirt and tuck my shirt in! It is the small things that are going to mean the most to me!

I was just curious if it varies from doctorto doctor how long you need to be on a liquid diet before you are banded. Just from reading different posts I have seen different things from 1 week to 2 weeks. I have not met with my doctor yet, and of course I will ask him. I was just curious how long you were on the liquid diet and how you did on it. Thanks!
