  3. Hi there. I just finished my 6 month supervised diet and I’m just waiting to hear back from insurance so I can schedule for RNY. So far I’ve had no issue telling people my plans. Everyone at work knows. I work at a psych hospital and we have a lot of potlucks and I just figured early on there would be a lot less pressure if I told my coworkers so they’d be understanding when I wasn’t eating or going for weekly beers after work anymore. All my friends know and are very excited for me. My immediate family knows and are very supportive however.... This passed weekend we had a huge family get together with family members I haven’t seen since my mother passed almost 2 years ago. I found myself hiding that I was going to have surgery from them. I’m not really sure why I just couldn’t tell any of them and didn’t want anyone else to tell them either. Has anyone else had this problem? I feel like it’s weird that I can be so open with everyone else but can’t tell my family. ~crystal

    Genepro

Nearly all protein shakes and supplements are not regulated by the FDA which means they don’t always put everything they need to on their food labels. Men’s health did a study about 10 years ago of muscle milk and found that it contains a lot of harmful metals none of which are listed on the label. If you did this study on every single one of them you will find something you don’t like. That being said there are still ones that are beneficial and I will continue drinking them.
  5. I originally wanted to go with the sleeve but after talking with my surgeon I chose bypass. My surgeon explained to me that I wouldn’t lose all the weight I want with the sleeve and because I already have really bad acid reflux that the sleeve could make it worse. He asked me if I wanted to take medication for acid reflux for the rest of my life and i told him my one of my goals with surgery was to stop taking medications for high blood pressure and that would just have me trading one med for another. So it’ll be bypass surgery in June.
  6. I had my first Dr. Visit in October. I immediately finished all the pre op appointments ie psych evaluation, meeting the nutritionist. I just finished my 6 month supervised diet last Monday and now I’m just waiting to hear back from insurance so I can schedule my surgery. My Dr. Is shooting for June and I’m having gastric bypass.

    Pooping is stressful!

I’ve been wondering about this!! I just finished my 6 month supervised diet on Monday so I’m still waiting to hear back from insurance before I can schedule surgery. Both of my kids were c-sections and I had the hardest time pooping afterwards. I’ve been wondering what this first one will be like after surgery as I’m having the gastric bypass.
  9. Hi there. My 6 month supervised diet is set to be over on April 10th. My Dr. Has given me a time frame of surgery being 1 or 2 months after that which could put me into June for surgery. It seems like a long time to wait to me as I’m already super impatient! I’m curious to see how long insurance approval took for others. I have regence uniform plus for insurance. My Dr. Says I’m doing really well so far with my diet and he thinks I’m a great candidate for surgery so I don’t foresee there being any problems.
