I think the recovery - reading a lot about the struggles a lot of people have faced along the way - and then the whole " I can only eat 4 bites of food " thing freaks me out . I truly am terrified of complications too. -

Yeah ? See I kept reading different stories . My doctors told me to stay off the internet but apparently I must be a glutton for punishment lol I can't . Because I need to know these things to help me to make my decision , and also I mean I just wana know ! I'm a researcher I can't help it . And this is a huge decision I mean once it's done it's done . Can't put your stomach back ya know ? So like it's scary ! What freaks me out the most is the recovery . I'm reading a lot about sipping, small sips and things like that . And how some have trouble getting tiny sips of water down . Things like that . Idk . I'm still trying to come to my conclusion. My doctors office has a group on march 13 so I'm Hoping I will be able to learn a lot just by meeting human beings who have had the surgery already and being able to talk face to face . I'm hoping that'll help me to come to my decision . I keengoig back and forth and just when I think I've made up my mind I change it that quickly . Thank you for your response !

You know I really appreciate that ! That was one of my concerns as well , I read a few other people's stories and one specifically scared me because the girl had lost too much weight , and kept losing and she kept getting sick and had trouble with eating enough and or keeping it down . So that kind of scared me . Thank you so much for being kind and sharing your story with me 🖤

I'm not sure as to why every one cares so much for the WHY I'm asking . I'm a faceless stranger on the internet so I'm curious is to WHY the question bothers you all so much . Also - I am curious as to why every one on this site seems to be so rude and " holier than thou". Pretty sure this site is for people who went through or are going to go through the same experiences . If you were part of a cancer group - would you condemn Some one for their choice go through chemo or to live life till it's time to go with the extra pain and suffering involved in going through chemo ? Or would you lift them up ? My point is that before you go judging and assuming, maybe in a kind way ask the person what thought process or mental standpoint brought them to ask a certain thing in the first place . I did not come to this site to ask people things to help my decide in a surgery I might have , to be judge by other fat people who had the same surgery I'm thinking of having . In my case this option isn't solely about weight loss . It's has to do with other medical conditions and injuries going on . It's not about how much weight I can or want to lose after having it done . To be that's just an added bonus . I don't have to explain myself to strangers especially ones who seem to want to put me down or make me feel small or like I have some sort of problem . Do you guys feel proud of yourselves now ? I surely Hope so . Thanks for the POSITIVE FEEDBACK GUYS . Super appreciate it .

So this might sound crazy and most may not understand why I am asking but - has any one ever gone to their surgeon and requested a slightly less of their stomach to be removed ? Like I have read that some doctors do differently such as one may remove 90 percent of the stomach while others may remove 70 percent . So my question is has this been done and is this a thing that the doctor may accommodate on your size etc ? Can I request he doesn't take as much stomach ? I'm going to be self pay .

How was your surgery and recovery ? How do you feel now ? I'm still on the fence trying to decide . -
Has any one had VSG or any other bariatric surgery with Dr. Sunil K Sharma ?

I appreciate the honestly . I've had a c section - and I've also had a tummy tuck two years ago and that was worse than the c section . It was a terrible Awful recovery . I had lost 80 pounds alone and got into body building and then had the tuck . After that I fell into such a deep and dark depression . Which I am currently still dealing with . I've gained about 50 pounds back after the tummy tuck . My binge eating creeped back but I have more control Over that now. I keep thinking because I lost it before I should be able to do it again alone but I keep yotoing with weight watchers . But I'm Not binging and that's huge for me . I knkw I have been through some serious recovery time with other surgeries . But VSG seems worlds different. And I'm not sure if I should have he hernia repair if at all any more ! Then the doctor put the idea of VSG in my head and now I'm all mentally messed up trying to figure out what I want for myself .

Well naturally yes . I don't feel I *need* the surgery . It's more of a question of do I want it ? If that makes sense . I'm 5'8 228 pounds . Never even considered the surgery until last week when I saw my doctor because I have a large hiatus hernia . He asked if I would want VSG along with it . Then I started doing the research on what the actual surgery is . I had no idea until this past week . I'm terrified of the recovery and not being able to enjoy eating ever again . I'm just not sure . I've read a lot of scary things as far as recovery goes and I'm just not sure it's the rite thing for me .

What happens if you drink and eat ? This is one of the reasons I and leaning towards not having surgery .

Large hiatal hernia surgery with possible VSG
jamieohhh posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hello guys . I'm not sure I'm posing in the proper place but here goes . I have a large hiatus hernia and tummy doctor wants to do surgery . I'm wondering if any one here may have had this surgery with out VSG. He asked me if I wanted to do VSG with it . And that I do not know . I've read lots of posts from other people and I am scared to do the VSG . I am also scared to have the hernia surgery . I'm wondering what recovery is like for the hiatal hernia with out VSG . Then I'm also wondering what recovery is like either way if that makes sense . I'm trying to make a decision and cannot find any forums about the hernia . Any thing any one is willing to talk with me about is extremely appreciated !! Thank you guys !!!
