Post Op June 2014 Sleevers
Nurseygirl replied to KimGettingSlim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't make my goal of 219. I gained 1.5 lbs. I had not taken my diuretic for my blood pressure and I had not been drinking enough H20. So.... I'm depressed... I can only blame myself! I am starting to work out tomorrow. I plan to walk 2.2 miles a day and use my resistance band to improve my upper body strength and dust off my ab lounger. I've was in Vegas for the 4th and I ate 1 fried chicken strip and a few bites of macaroni and cheese...I am really angry and feel like I've failed... -

Hi, I was sleeved on June 3rd. HW-246 SW-239 1st Appointment 1 week post-op-243 due to receiving lots of IV fluids before and after surgery. Current weight-224 I have a question. do you think I'm loosing weight too slowly? I count my SW as my starting weight and I've lost 15lbs. I expected to loose 20-22lbs the first month. I am 3.5 weeks post-op currently. I try to to compare myself to others and their weight loss.

CW-224 GW- 219 I am loosing about 3-4lbs a week average maybe I'll get to my GW.. got my fingers crossed.

I would talk to your Dr. Everybody feels different. I was off 6 days and that included the weekend. I was fine when I went back to work. I work 9+ hours a day... If you walk a lot and follow your Dr.'s orders.. I think you will be fine with continuing to meet your educational goals as we'll...

I'm 226 and my goal is 216.

Hello post-op sleevers, I am 9 days post-op, I went to my last post-op appointment. I weighed 239 going into surgery, my surgeon gave me a lot of IV fluids. My weight was 244 24h after surgery, I am at 234 now. I've lost all the water weight and now the scale is pretty steady with moving down. I was at a stand still for about 3 days before my 1 wk post-op appt. My doctor told me to drink more water. It has made such a difference. I am going to start walking every evening after work 1-2 miles. I feel motivated. I am getting about 60 gm protein a day. My doctor told me to get to 80/day, but it's hard. I am loving cottage cheese.. I don't get hungry, but cravings are strong. I have mouth thrush and a yeast infection from the ABX I received. I noticed I am a bit more emotional, than before surgery. Things that irritate me a little really piss me off now. Has anyone been emotional or a little moody since surgery? -

I'm glad you are done. I am 6 days post op and get nauseated sometimes. Keep drinking fluids as tolerated... I don't know you but I'm so happy for you! Keep walking as tolerated.. You will heal faster. The pee will come LOL!! Soon! I had that problem, and when I started to pee.. It was constant...again, Kudos to you and I wish you a safe recovery!! -
I was sleeved on June 3rd...my surgeon said I had a lot of scar tissue around my port and tubing too. He said at the beginning there was so much that he didn't think he would be able to the VSG. He Said one he got to the lap band there wasn't any scar tissue there. And was able to do the VSG.

3.5 months out and burning in stomach?
Nurseygirl replied to jennbrenna's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had a lap band removal VSG on 06/03/2014. I have this burning inside my stomach. I take my pain medication and Zofran. The two help this burning sensation in my stomach.. I tied Prilosec and that doesn't help. I was going to see if Pepcid will work... I don't have a lot of Zofran. If there was a leak you would have severe pain and a fever cause a leak would cause peritonitis. -
Hi June sleepers!!!! I had my surgery yesterday. Just got home today. I'm so tired. I have a lot of heart burn, and I mean a lot!!!!! Zofran helps both my nausea and my heart burn. My doctor said I had a lot of scar tissue around the tubing of my lap band. He almost did not do my sleeve. One he got to the band though, he saw that he could complete a VSG. I'm glad he was able todo the VSG.

Good luck to the June seconders!!!!

The time goes by fast... I brought premier shakes from Costco... Mainly because it gad the most protein than the others (30 gms). I plan on working Monday... Before the big day, but I'm feeling anxious.. Just wish I could take that day off too.. Oh well!

Hi everyone, a few more days and June 3rd I will be able to start using my new tool and getting rid of the old one. I did a little grocery shopping today's to prepare for when I come home. Has anyone bought any multivitamins or protein shakes/powder. I still have not made any decisions on which kind brand to but yet. Anyone else?

How long ago was your lap band? Is VSG a sleeve? I have my sleeve on June 3rd and just required to do liquids 24 hours beforehand too. I have had my lap band placed April 2008. I lost 30lbs and gained it all back since. I could only hold 1.7cc in a 10cc band and even that was too tight. So it my surgeon is going to remove it and do the vertical sleeve gastrectomy. I'm so excited and nervous. I know is time I will be successful... Are you ready?

CA- Orange County
Nurseygirl replied to GoalInProgress's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I live in Riverside county, but there is no chapter, so far in Riverside county... I work in Orange County. I would like to join and be a member of this chapter. I am scheduled to have a Lap Band to VSG 06/03/14. It is very important in my journey to share, be supportive and receive support from others who are in a similar weight loss journey, so with that being said, I look forward to the future with you all -
Good Morning future VSGers, I am scheduled June 3rd. I am getting nervous with less than 2 weeks to go. I've been watching YouTube videos of lap band to VSG, and VSG post op and results. The one thing that I haven't done is buy any post-op products to prepare for what I will be drinking or taking after I am discharged from the hospital. There are so many products and websites out there... I am also concerned about buying products that will be gross to me after surgery, due to the common taste buds change. It was suggested that I buy bariatric advantage products. But the. I've looked on bariatricchoice.com which sells all types of products. its so overwhelming... how many of you have started to shop for your post-op? What did you buy?

Surgery scheduled for June 4.....I drink water constantly but I was told once I have the surgery I may not be able to unless I add something to it.... They call it water nausea ... A co worker who had his surgery 2 years ago still can't drink water unless he adds something to it. Have u been reading about the hairloss? I think that is what is freaking me out the most....it's not like a woman can shave her head and be considered "hot" like some guys can!!!! Lol! I'm having my lap band removal and VSG 6/3/14. I agree! I'm spooked about the hair loss. I heard people who experience hair loss usually stop shedding after about 8 months to a year after surgery. If it happens to me... I hope I don't shed until I'm bald???? LOL! I better get some liquid/chewable Biotin just in case. I never heard of water nausea... Is it because the taste of water has changed after surgery and it tastes nasty?
