  1. Hello everyone! I am 3 months post op. I have lost 52 lbs, 32 of those lbs being post surgery. But I feel as if the past month has been very difficult. I have been losing weight very slowly and I have even stalled. I have started at the gym and changing up what I eat to make sure I am doing things correctly. It is frightening because I want to make this work for me. I know it is a tool and I have to work with it. I am human and have not eaten perfectly after surgery but I am definitely trying. My motivation picks up and falls. I just want to reach my goal like any normal person lol. Has this happened to anyone else? Any advice? HW: 286.4 SW: 267.4 CW: 234.4

    Post surgery struggles

Thank you for the book suggestion. I definitely need that book lol. This is harder I anticipated but it is everything I expected it to be. I feel like my stall is a bit lengthy at the moment. Trying to pinpoint what exactly is going on. I love all of your posts by the way! Very informative and make me laugh at the same time. Thank you . HW: 286.4 SW: 267.4 CW: 234.4 GW: 150 -Charly

    Post surgery struggles

That is what I have heard as well. I feel like this plateau is lasting a bit longer than it should. Trying to pinpoint it I am doing something wrong (which as someone else suggested it might be my eating habits) or it my body is too upset about losing the lbs to let go lol. Started up the gym this past week. Feels great! HW: 286.4 SW: 267.4 CW: 234.4 GW: 150 -Charly

    Post surgery struggles

Believe me, I am conscious of my crappy decision making. After the surgery, I was not having any ill effects if I ate a trigger food or something that I knew was not favorable. I would not binge or anything crazy, but I would still have some which was much more than I should have had at all. But the fact that I now know I was going down the wrong road is what gave me the confidence to post that statement whatsoever. I have a kitchen scale. I don’t weigh EVERYTHING (I am not going to weigh the 1 slice of chopped onion or the 1 leaf of lettuce) because I think it is overkill. But I do weigh out my big components like the proteins and veggies. I haven’t been having carbs so that doesn’t even exist in my diet anymore. What I am saying is I am not perfect and I will mess up. BUT I am now conscious of where I what I was doing wrong. I am making sure it is a mess up 1 day out of 6 months - 1 year rather than messing up every week or multiple times a week and letting it become a habit again. That is what got me to my presurgery weight in the first place. We all know this is difficult. We would not have had the surgery if we didn’t have some kind of issues controlling our food intake in the first place. But I am not going to excuse myself for messing up either. I choose to pick up and continue moving forward. Now, I used to track perfectly. Not so much anymore. That is definitely something I need to start doing and I am beyond grateful that you mentioned it. I forgot how important and impactful tracking everything is. I weigh my food and use the plate method but never really wrote it down to get the overall picture of what my post surgery diet is looking like. I have not had more than my stomach would allow. I have corrected my diet and started moving my buns more. Now I just feel stuck. HW: 286.4 SW: 267.4 CW: 234.4 GW: 150 -Charly

    Post surgery struggles

I feel that it is essential but my program says do what you’d like as long as you do not hurt yourself. It is kind of up to you to make the choices on food and exercise. Not much guidance. HW: 286.4 SW: 267.4 CW: 234.4 GW: 150 -Charly

My provided diet plan is pretty vague, making t a little difficult to know how far off I am from what they might expect. I sometimes eat foods I shouldn’t but I am human and recognize those moments. I have kept it to a minimum and move on from those in a healthier fashion rather than continuing with the bad habits. I am also avoiding snacking & carbs. Those are huge triggers for me. I am not drinking liquids during meals, rather drinking liquids around my meals. No carbonated drinks. Sometimes juice but that’s like 4 oz once or twice a week. I know exercise is not as huge a factor as the dieting but I know the sedentary lifestyle has affected me tons. I am attempting a keto type diet although I know I cannot reach the required amount of calories. Lack of bathroom use also affects my weight. I am trying to keep my foods as clean and healthy as possible. HW: 286.4 SW: 267.4 CW: 234.4 GW: 150 -Charly

    Hair loss

I know it is practically inevitable but I am not ready for the hair loss. I lost a good amount after having my daughter but now it is the fullest and nicest it has been in years. I am 6 weeks out anticipating that it will start falling out around month 3. I am embracing it while I still can *hugs hair*. What has everyone else’s experience been with the hair loss? -Charly

    Hair loss

I am so glad your loss slowed down quickly. I have heard some horror stories about the hair loss. I am hesitant to take anything only because I was advised by the nutritionist to avoid biotin. They said it could affect my labs...but if I’m not getting lab work done at the moment then maybe I can try this out! Thank you! HW: 286 SW: 267.4 CW: 248.2 GW: 150 -Charly
  10. I was curious as to how everyone calculates their total weight loss. Do you include how much you have lost from your highest weight or only what you have lost post-op? I was at my highest weight right before my surgery so I personally feel as though using my pre-op weight loss is warranted but, does it really count? Thoughts? 11. Hello everyone! I am 25 days post op and haven’t lost weight in the past week. Have only lost 11 lbs since surgery. Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this? HW: 286 SW: 267 02/07/18 CW: 256 -Charly

    Plateau during first month

Hello! It is challenging but as long as we push through and pay attention to our bodies, we should do fine. Thank you! -Charly

    Plateau during first month

I will try increasing my fluids and protein. This started once I switched over to soft foods. I am wondering if I am getting too much Carbs in my meals. But many say it is inevitable. -Charly

    Post Op Pains

I think the source of the pain might be caused by my little one as you have all suggested. She’s learning how to climb now so it is getting easier. Still not on expert mode. Other than that I am getting more water in and it helps a ton too. Walking outside has been extremely beneficial. -Charly

    Post Op Pains

Hello everyone! I had a sleeve done on 02/07/18. Everything has been going great until yesterday when I had a sharp pain as I tried standing up from my seat. It was near my belly button and felt like a stabbing pain. I called the nurse and she said it was normal after surgery (she said my muscles are waking up from anesthesia) and to make sure I was hydrated. But of course, as a normal worrywart I ask, has anyone experienced something like this? HW: 286 CW: 259 GW: 150

    Post Op Pains

I think I’m over the gas and constipation pains. Those have been regular for me since week 2. Walking is a blessing with this surgery. Fixes just about everything lol. Hope you feel better soon! -Charly

    Post Op Pains

I am between weeks 2 & 3 now. Hopefully it is gone by week 4. My problem is that I have a 1 yr old so avoiding picking her up is close to impossible BUT I am being super careful about it. Thanks! -Charly

    Post Op Pains

Mine is also in the left side! This started 2 days ago which is why I am attributing it to dehydration...for now. Glad you’re better! -Charly

    Post Op Pains

I am making sure to walk a bit more, even if it’s in circles around the house. Water has helped & im using a waist band thing (can’t remember what they’re called) that they gave me for support. I’m praying this sharp pain stops. As long as it is not a leak or an ulcer, I’m good. -Charly

    Any February Sleevers?

February 7, 2018! Feeling good so far. It’s hard not to go between liquids and soft foods before I am supposed to but thankfully my body is handling what I have thrown at it. Haven’t had anything unhealthy. Hope everyone else is well.
