    Heartburn or rookie mistake?

Though this is very late... thought I would share. I saw my surgeon for post op last week. After another barium swallow I do have another mild stricture! Another EGD for me!! Thanks for all the advice! I’m glad I have a solution now!

    Travel diet after surgery

I travel a lot for my job too and had to learn how to survive. It’s really hard when I go out with clients and don’t drink and barely eat!! When out to dinner with a group I always order something that has grilled chicken I can eat. Last week I ordered chicken fajitas and just opened the tortilla and ate the chicken. Also, every time I get to a new city I’ll Uber to a cvs or grocery store and get a box of protein bars. I do the Atkins snack bars when in a pinch. I’ve also learned that restaurants can be really accommodating! If you need to sub in a veggie for a starch most of them are happy to do it! My favorite trick? I have a client contact who likes to DRINK! And he makes it really uncomfortable for anyone who doesn’t. In this situation I’ve learned to volunteer to order the drinks and ask the bar tender to give me iced tea served in a high ball glass... my boss finally figured me out but no one else! Hope this helps! Being the only one on a strict diet can suck, hang in there!
  3. Immediately post-op my surgeons office said it should take 30 minutes to an hour to eat your meal. Did anyone else get the same instruction? In six months post op now and wondering if we’re still supposed to eat that slow? It’s a little frustrating! I hate eating now so I’d rather just get it done!
  4. Hi guys! I am curious if anyone else has a similar experience or may have some advice. I was sleeved 11/7/17 and other than a minor stricture 3 weeks post op, it has been really easy. I deal with moderate heart burn every day that I manage with Prilosec and tums. For the past few months every time I eat I feel pressure in my throat like my food is coming back up. It lasts for about an hour or two. While it’s not painful it’s uncomfortable. I’ve found myself skipping meals when I just don’t feel like dealing with it. I’ve tried to problem solve on my own and I’m stuck. I chew thoroughly, take small bites and eat slowly. The regurgitation feeling comes no matter what I eat. Could it be related to heartburn or is this normal and will go away the further out from surgery I get? Thanks
