Yup.
I can eat more chips than Protein. It’s easy to do.
All of us will test the sleeve or pouch eventually. Can I eat this? Many times we find out it is still up to us and not the surgery to make the right food choices. Makes it tough!
I try not to dwell on it if I have a bad eating moment. It doesn’t have to slide into a whole day, week, month of bad moments. Just get back on track and back to it.

Binge eating is an unhealthy coping mechanism, so I'm going to talk about it the way I would any other one.
You haven't failed. You've taken one step back but the point here is to get back up. You can do this, you're stronger than your cravings are. Relapse is a part of any recovery, and surgery for obesity is no exception. It's not going to be easy. Change never is, especially when it's been a pattern for so long. You're used to reaching for chips, or popcorn, or anything else salty. Eating 35 tortilla chips once is not a make or break moment.
How you respond to this is going to be very important. You are not a bad person for eating chips. You are not a bad patient, you have not failed. You are going to sit down and look at it like this: You binged after your surgery. Surgery is emotionally taxing, and because your diet has been very restrictive the cravings have been intense for you. You are going to make a CHOICE to not eat any more chips. It will be hard, you're going to have to work. But, always remember that you can do it. You're in control here, you can decide what to eat. Your cravings are just that, cravings.
You got this! If you need more support we're always here for you.

You will have to work, hard.
The sleeve can manipulated as you can see.
I suggest removing the tempting foods from your life, carving out a sustainable plan, only eating set meals (no Snacks at all), using support systems for good mental hygiene, forgiving yourself for this one event and vigilantly moving forward.
Safe Journey!

Oh I feel ya, I did the same thing with Doritos the other day. BUT you can get back in the saddle. Each new day is a chance to do better.
So now you know why slider food is called slider food. Back to Protein first, leafy greens, plenty of Water and no snacking. You got this.

Unfortunately I've found that chips, candy, bread, and other unhealthy stuff doesn't bother my sleeved stomach at all. I'm very disappointed and surprised by this. I really thought my new stomach wouldn't tolerate such foods. So now I need to have more strength to abstain. -

So I'm 6 weeks out (tomorrow). I haven't been perfect with my post-op diet, but damn have I been close! Until tonight. I binged on tortilla chips. I had probably 30 to 35 chips. I fit them all in within probably a 30 minute period and didn't even feel that bad. I felt really full, but I wasn't sick or anything.
I wish my sleeve was pickier sometimes. I wish I didn't know I could fit 35 tortilla chips in my sleeve.
I can't believe I did that. I think it started with allowing myself to have 2 cups of popcorn at work today. I started really craving the salt and it seems that I backslid into lack of control very quickly.
I've already been in a 10 day stall. (Stall #2 in 6 weeks). Dreading seeing the scale tomorrow and feeling stupid.

Just turned 4 months this month. I had surgery on 7/12 and have lost 110 pounds from highest weight and 88 pounds from day of surgery. Started 390 hw, 368 sw, and 280 cw. I’ve had great progress but it has slowed down and have been experiencing more stalls. Some days are good and some days are bad on the vomiting side or same food may not agree my new stomach either. I still struggle with getting enough Protein and supplement with a shake in the morning cut down with almond milk because it’s too sweet and can’t stand it. My Water intake is improving but not meeting goals. Been buying some clothes as I have gone from size 28 pants to a size 18. I didn’t gain my weight overnight and trying to be positive ahead to meet small and big goals. Looking forward to a brighter future!

About 5 months. Basically on my 4 month anniversary I had emergency gallbladder removal. By the time I was back to 100% in late month 5 I’d slowed way down. Don’t get me wrong I’m just at month 7 and still loosing but not like before. Much more intentional and obvious if I’m not on my food/hydration/exercise plan/goals. By no means am I perfect.

Both mirrors and camera lenses can distort an image in different ways. You also may look different in different mirrors or photos taken by different cameras.
And what the eye sees may vary wildly from person to person as well.
I would suggest picking a mirror or camera that gives you the image you like to the most (my mirror is from Walmart and it makes me look taller) and use it to record your progress.
Congrats on your success!

How long did your weight loss honeymoon phase last? -

I've lost 37 lbs since my Aug 15 surgery (total 52 lbs since pre surgery diet). I've been feeling pretty good with the weight loss so far. It's noticeable to me in my clothes and how I can now cross my legs with both legs hanging vertically like they're supposed to. I've actually looked at myself in the mirror more than I have in years. It's cool being able to see my collarbone and shoulders and my slimmer face and neck. This past weekend we took family photos for Christmas and when I looked through them I was a bit disappointed. My weight loss doesn't seem to be as noticeable in the pictures as it is IRL. Curious if anyone else has noticed that.

For the *losers* out there I'm curious whether you see yourself looking the same or different in the mirror compared to in photos, with both being at your current weight. I'll post my response as a comment so as to not influence your thoughts.

I’m still here! RNY on 7/17. Down 66 since surgery, 103lbs since starting the program. Gotta get back on my workout bring, but the holidays are super busy. Just got back from KY on Saturday and next week I’m off to CA for a few days. I’ve got this killer dress for a party in CA that arrives tomorrow, fingers crossed that it fits!

Just checking in here since I'm summer 2018. I'm coming up on 4 months and weight loss is seeming slow but I've lost 53 lbs from my HW. I made it though a week long trip to Houston and Thanksgiving week with family in town. Some of the leftovers and Snacks from TG have been tough. I gave in and had a few bites of pumpkin roll. I don't even like pumpkin but I LOVE cream cheese frosting! The crackers is another thing that I've got to watch out for. I find myself grabbing a couple here and there to snack on. I really need to get back on track with my food and logging everything. On my trip to Houston, the week before TG, I went out to lunch and dinner every day. I really made good choices but gave in a little with some tortilla chips and a little bread. When I got home, I was happy to see that I actually dropped to below 200. It was so nice getting on the scale and seeing <200 for once. I've got to get busy with exercise. Y'all, I just hate it. I have got to force myself to get up and do something. I know I can do it because I've done it in the past. I told myself that between TG and Christmas I would, starting today (Monday) get up and exercise. Well, I got up and put on my exercise clothes but I haven't popped in the DVD yet. I'm going to do it though, I really am! I know if I would do it then I would see even more progress. Things have seemed so slow. At least I am glad that when I eat a meal I can't eat too much and I feel full. It's the between meals that is starting to worry me though.

I am almost 6 months in - surgery date was 6/6. My pre-surgery diet weight was 254. My weight the date of surgery was 241. I currently weigh 188. I have been stuck for a few weeks. We did a week at Disneyland, including Thanksgiving, and I didn’t gain. ... but didn’t lose either. I am determined to get down to 180 by Christmas.

I'm still here too I had surgery on July 3rd. High weight in April was 362, and my current weight is 256!! Kind of hit a little stall at around 265 for a couple weeks, but then things started moving again. Hoping that the holidays don't tempt me too much!

I’m glad you relate, but I’m so sorry you’re struggling too. We keep thinking this surgery will make our lives better, and I believe it has, for the most part, but I think my inner fat girl is going through shock. -

Worse in the mirror, lighting is usually off and I think I look more or pasty than I usually am. Keep in mind it is the edge of Winter in Ohio and I have lost most of not all of my summer tan. All that remains are freckles and age spots. And if I went back to wearing makeup I have to get a lighter shade, what I have now 2 shades too tanned and dark.😴🙈🙉🙊👌

Similar to @abefroman329's story; my friend and I went to a play on Friday. We sat next to each other, and our arms weren't touching at all. Usually, I'm all up in the person's space that is sitting next to me. Not anymore!
